00:00They were using signal to coordinate on sets of materials and...
00:04Having to do with what?
00:06Having to do with what? What were they talking about?
00:09With the Houthis.
00:10The Houthis? You mean the attacker of the Houthis?
00:12Nobody was texting war plans, and that's all I have to say about that.
00:17We will not comment on the Secretary's deliberative conversations.
00:23And secondly, that you should contact the White House.
01:30Your reaction to the story of the Atlantic that said that some of your top
01:44cabinet officials and aides have been discussing very sensitive material
01:48through signal and included an Atlantic reporter for that.
01:51What is your response to that?
01:53I don't know anything about it. I'm not a big fan of the Atlantic.
01:56To me, it's a magazine that's going out of business.
01:58I think it's not much of a magazine, but I know nothing about it.
02:01You're saying that they had what?
02:03They were using signal to coordinate on sets of materials and...
02:08Having to do with what?
02:10Having to do with what? What were they talking about?
02:12With the Houthis.
02:14The Houthis? You mean the attacker of the Houthis?
02:16Yes.
02:16Well, it couldn't have been very effective because the attack was very effective.
02:20I can tell you that. I don't know anything about it.
02:22You're telling me about it for the first time.
02:29So nobody was texting war plans and that's all I have to say about that.
02:43Deceitful and highly discredited so-called journalist who's
02:48made a profession of peddling hoaxes time and time again.
02:52Our troops, our sailors were getting shot at as targets.
02:55Our ships couldn't sail through.
02:57And when they did shoot back, it was purely defensively or at shacks in Yemen.
03:02President Trump said, no more.
03:04We will reestablish deterrence.
03:06We will open freedom of navigation and we will ultimately decimate the Houthis,
03:12which is exactly what we're doing.
03:13But why was the cabinet secretaries in the national security cabinet
03:20discussing a potential military operation on signal, which is a public app?
03:27And why didn't they notice a phone number that was not part of their group?
03:32And how concerned is the secretary about the implications of this?
03:38Well, I have two very short things to say to you.
03:41First is that we will not comment on the secretary's deliberative conversations.
03:48And secondly, that you should contact the White House.
03:52But in this regard, this was a very extensive series of conversations
03:58involving a very important military action.
04:04And the Secretary of State is the leader of foreign policy.
04:09Shouldn't he have an opinion about this?
04:12Well, from this podium, I'm not going to comment and never would I comment
04:16in any framework the secretary's deliberative conversations in any regard.
04:22All right.
04:22Are you concerned about the security?
04:26I've said it twice and I appreciate your persistence.
04:29That's why you're who you are.
04:30But I won't be commenting on that particular framework.
