00:00In response to World Tuberculosis Day yesterday, March 24, the Department of Health issued a statement

00:12about the high number of TB cases in our country.

00:16According to them, more than 540,000 cases of tuberculosis were reported last year.

00:24That's less than what Health Secretary Ted Erbosa said in 2023,

00:29that the country is still far from being TB-free.

00:33On the other hand, there is a decline in TB-related deaths from 2022 to 2023.

00:41According to the World Health Organization, the Philippines is one of the five countries

00:45with the highest number of TB cases.

00:48TB is a contagious disease that usually affects the lungs

00:53and spreads through the air when it enters the lungs.

00:57The disease spreads or decreases.

01:00As of now, the DOH has not yet released any data on TB cases this year.

01:05Heartthrobs, TB is curable.

01:09So consult your doctor or health center immediately if you have symptoms such as

01:15long-lasting,

01:17chest pain,

01:19fatigue,

01:21fever,

01:21and lower weight.
