00:00It's just this whole thing with my mother.
00:03I just don't know if I can go through with it."
00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the most egregious movie
00:11scenes that definitely deserved to be deleted.
00:15Spoilers to come!
00:21Number 10.
00:22Brock holds the heart of the ocean.
00:24Titanic.
00:25This epic romance had the perfect ending, or at least the most iconic.
00:30We could have gotten something much less impressive.
00:36In this deleted scene, Rose still aims to drop the heart of the ocean into the sea.
00:42Only this time, Brock and Rose's granddaughter catch her in the act.
00:46Rose then allows Brock to hold the necklace before she drops it into the ocean.
00:56Please, just once."
00:59With its corny dialogue and rather strange acting, this scene was superfluous at best.
01:06The final cut of the movie, with Rose alone and uninterrupted,
01:10was a much better artistic decision as a whole.
01:19Number 9.
01:20Moana wasting coconuts.
01:23Moana.
01:24Disney's extensive research on Polynesian culture reaped fruit in this successful film,
01:29inspired by extensive trips to Fiji, Samoa, and Tahiti.
01:42The film is overall respectful of the culture and setting,
01:45although some of their original ideas didn't pass muster as very indigenous-friendly.
01:51Moana's original script initially had a humorous scene of Moana,
01:55after a fight with her father, starts tossing coconuts in her frustration.
02:08The Oceanic Story Trust, however, vetoed the idea, as coconuts are a precious resource.
02:15It would have been deemed wasteful, if not out of character, for a Polynesian girl to have done so.
02:20We're glad this was left on the cutting room floor.
02:32Number 8.
02:33Dante's death.
02:34Clerks.
02:35This is another alternate ending that would have gone over badly.
02:45Kevin Smith's debut film follows young clerk Dante,
02:49forced to cover a fellow employee's morning shift and all the wacky shenanigans of that day.
02:54The film's first ending, in which Dante is shot dead by a random robber,
02:59would have killed the light comic vibe entirely.
03:04Smith wanted the dramatic irony of Dante dying when he was not supposed to be there
03:08in the first place.
03:10This dark ending would have been jarring, to say the least,
03:13not fitting the tone of the film at all.
03:16We're just glad this was left in the editing room.
03:20Number 7.
03:21E.T. Watches Mary Sleep.
03:23E.T. The Extraterrestrial.
03:26This beloved alien might have been less family-friendly,
03:29had director Steven Spielberg kept a certain moment in.
03:33During the scene in which E.T. explores the house,
03:36he also walks in on Mary sleeping naked in bed.
03:40E.T. is the equivalent of a toddler,
03:42and this scene is meant to show his curiosity about humans.
03:50But this was not the end of E.T.
03:53E.T. is still alive,
03:54and he's still in a coma.
03:56He's still alive,
03:57and he's still in a coma.
03:59It's a baseball and bat.
04:01But this was unnecessary and still would have not been the best way to show it.
04:07Only some photographs of the deleted scene survive,
04:11which neatly encapsulates why it was removed in the first place.
04:15It was definitely for the best.
04:22Number 6.
04:24Uncle Frank Pulls Down Kevin's Pants.
04:26Home Alone.
04:28Speaking of unintentionally creepy scenes,
04:31Kevin's life before he was accidentally left home alone
04:34was more than just a little chaotic.
04:45This deleted scene would have turned Kevin's family
04:48from mildly jerky to downright abusive.
04:52Obnoxious Uncle Frank of little jerk fame
04:55pulls down Kevin's pants as a joke.
05:04Why this was ever even briefly considered to be a scene
05:07worth including in the final cut is beyond us.
05:10It's terrible at best,
05:12creepy at worst.
05:13Thankfully, it was deleted,
05:15leaving this family-friendly Christmas classic as unproblematic as ever.
05:23Number 5.
05:24Forrest Saves MLK.
05:26Forrest Gump.
05:28Much of the charm of this Oscar-winning film
05:30is watching Forrest Gump meet celebrities
05:32and even presidents in fun coincidences.
05:42One meeting would have had Forrest meet Martin Luther King Jr. himself.
05:46As Forrest and Jenny are walking down a bridge,
05:48they hear MLK and the Selma protesters being attacked by police dogs.
05:54Forrest helps them out by calming down the dogs.
06:02Unfortunately, this would have undermined the danger MLK
06:06and the protesters would have been in for another of Gump's shenanigans.
06:10There is also the unpleasant whiff of the white savior trope.
06:14This scene didn't make the cut for good reason.
06:20Number 4.
06:22Chewbacca Rips an Arm Off.
06:24Star Wars Episode VII – The Force Awakens.
06:28Who doesn't like Han Solo's iconic furry companion?
06:35The first film of the Star Wars sequel trilogy
06:37sees Han and Chewbacca together again, which is fantastic.
06:41This deleted scene would have definitely cast Chewbacca in a much darker light.
06:46In Episode VII, Rey, Finn, Han, and Chewbacca
06:50end up at a bar on the planet Takodana.
06:55I'm going to make you pay for what you've done.
06:58I suggest kindly that you let go of me.
07:01When Rey encounters her old boss,
07:03Chewie saves the day by breaking his weapon and also his arm.
07:08While it's heartwarming for Chewie to protect Rey this way,
07:11the arm ripping is grisly overkill.
07:14I'm not afraid of you.
07:16Half a wookie isn't much.
07:19Number 3.
07:20Marty Worries About Turning Gay.
07:23Back to the Future.
07:24Now, this deleted scene would have dated this sci-fi classic for good.
07:29See if you bastards can do 90.
07:32In the film, Marty McFly ends up going to the 50s and being stuck there.
07:37While trying to help his father,
07:39Marty unfortunately meets his mother who develops a crush on him.
07:43Marty finds himself going to the dance with his own mother,
07:46planning on acting boorishly so his father can come to the rescue.
07:51You come up, you punch me in the stomach,
07:53I'm out for the count, right?
07:54And you and Lorraine live happily ever after.
07:58You make it sound so easy.
08:00In this deleted scene,
08:01he admits to Doc that he worries this whole experience will mess him up psychologically,
08:07as in, it will turn him gay.
08:08You know, this is the kind of thing that could screw me up permanently.
08:11It's retrograde at best,
08:13prejudiced at worst,
08:14and anything but timeless.
08:17Number 2.
08:18The Hell Scene.
08:19Event Horizon.
08:21Some deleted scenes can be pure nightmare fuel.
08:24I think that there's a connection between the readings and the hallucinations.
08:28Like they're all part of a defensive reaction, some sort of immune system.
08:31I don't have time to listen to this.
08:33You have to listen to me.
08:34To what?
08:34I'm saying that this ship is reacting to us and the reactions are getting stronger.
08:38This sci-fi horror cult film follows the crew of Lewis and Clark
08:42investigating the missing spaceship, Event Horizon,
08:45only to discover a massacre.
08:48Even worse, there is clearly a supernatural force of the most sinister kind.
08:53The film is grisly enough as it is,
08:56filled with hallucinations and murder.
08:58You can't leave.
09:00She won't let you.
09:02You just get your gear and get back on the Lewis and Clark doctor
09:04or you'll find yourself walking home.
09:07I am home.
09:08The deleted scenes featuring the hallucinations
09:10would have featured stomach-churning additions,
09:13such as mutilations, broken limbs and even sexual violence.
09:18It's a horror movie, alright, but some things are just too much to be countenanced.

09:47Number 1.
09:48Human Duck
09:49Freaks.
09:50This box office bomb-turned-cult film could have been a lot more twisted.
09:59Set in a carnival sideshow,
10:01the film follows trapeze artist Cleopatra
10:04as she tries to seduce, and then plot to murder,
10:07little person Hans to gain his inheritance.
10:11When Hans realizes the plot,
10:13he and the other circus performers take their revenge on Cleopatra.
10:17The film ends darkly with Cleopatra transformed into a human duck.
10:26The original deleted ending goes beyond that,
10:29showing not just Cleopatra's performance,
10:32but also her lover Hercules becoming a castrato.
10:36This dark tale of murder and vengeance could have been much darker.
