00:19a house in England's cheapest local authority area is just £116,500.
00:26We've analysed the ONS figures showing the median price paid during the year ending in
00:29September 2024, the latest period to which figures are available, by local authority
00:34area across England. Here are the 15 cheapest places in England
00:39to buy a house based on that data, in order of descending price. In every one of these
00:44places the average house price is less than £160,000, in some cases considerably so.
00:51The cheapest areas include locations around the North East and North West, as well as
00:55Yorkshire and the Humber, with Darlington, Middlesbrough, Blackburn, Blackpool, Sunderland,
01:01Hartlepool and Burnley among the towns and cities featured in this list.
