Assistant coach of team Gujarat Titans Parthiv Patel said in a special conversation with IANS that We've had a couple of camps before coming to Ahmedabad. We had a five-day camp twice in Surat. We've had great facilities there. So obviously, everyone worked really hard there. As you talked about batting, everyone has batted enough balls. There's been a lot of volume in terms of hitting the cricket ball and that's what all the players have done. In Ahmedabad, we've got together. We started training from March 10 and played a couple of practice matches also. I think it is great to be back on the ground. I have done a bit of coaching with MI Emirates (in ILT20), and I've done my level two coaching course also. So obviously, there was always a desire to coach an IPL side and to coach any side.”

00:00I think it is great to be back on the ground. I have done bit of coaching with MIM Reds and I have done my level 2 coaching course also.
00:10So obviously there was always a desire to coach an IPL side and to coach any side.
00:17And when this offer came in, obviously there was a lot of excitement.
00:21And other thing was, since I have played for lot of franchises, lot of cities but never represented my own state where I have played cricket for 15-20 years, that was Gujarat.
00:32So now coming back to home team and getting this opportunity was very grateful and now I am looking forward to the coaching role as well.
00:40So commentary is not going anywhere. I will still be commentating after the 2 months of IPL.
00:47So I am someone who actually likes looking at numbers. I like someone who likes to look at videos and make my own notes.
00:54So that I can represent my thoughts with the player if someone is coming and asking me about what a certain bowler is doing.
01:03So I have my own notes. I do look at data but it is very subjective. I don't force data on anyone.
01:10It depends on the player how they are thinking it. It is about accommodating player's need.
01:16But I have to, as a coach, I have to make sure I am ready with everything and that's how I look at it.
01:21So every coach has a different way of working it. This is how I keep myself ready.
01:26And if player needs it, I should be ready with my homework and my notes.
01:31So obviously we have had couple of camps before coming to Ahmedabad.
