Two men are on the run after a suspected drive by shooting in Western Sydney’s Merrylands. Police say the young family caught in the crossfire were not the intended targets, alleging the suspected target of the attack moved out of the house months ago. Two crime scenes have been set up and investigations are ongoing.

00:38Detectives have obtained CCTV footage of the incident and say they are hunting two men
00:44and that a rifle was used to carry out the shooting.
00:47The family are now receiving support from authorities.

00:53A short time later, police were called to reports of a car fire in South Granville.
01:04There, they found three vehicles alight.
01:08Officers say one of those vehicles was the getaway car and had been stolen.
01:13The two men were later seen on foot on Chiswick Road heading into bushland, but police say
01:18they have so far been unable to locate them.
01:21The stolen vehicle has been taken away for forensic testing.
