In a disturbing incident in Chandannagar, an IT engineer allegedly murdered his three-and-a-half-year-old son, driven by suspicions regarding his wife’s character. The accused, Madhav Tiketi (38), reportedly slit the child's throat before abandoning the body in a desolate area. Pune Police have arrested Tiketi in connection with the crime.
The case unfolded when the child's mother filed a missing person report at the Chandannagar police station, stating that her husband and son had been missing since Thursday afternoon. A swift investigation followed, with officers examining CCTV footage from various locations, including Lohgaon, Vadgaonsheri, and Hadapsar.
CCTV images revealed that at 2:30 pm on Thursday, Madhav was seen with his son. However, by 5:00 pm, he was alone, purchasing clothes, which raised suspicion. Police tracked his mobile phone to a lodge in Vadgaonsheri, where he was found intoxicated.
After regaining consciousness, Madhav confessed to the crime, admitting he killed his son and disposed of the body near a highway. He led police to the location, where the child’s bloodstained body was recovered.
DCP (Zone 4) Himmat Jadhav shared that Madhav had been unemployed for two months after working in the IT sector. Authorities believe his escalating doubts about his wife’s fidelity led to the tragic act, as he began to question the paternity of his child.
Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne from Chandannagar police station confirmed that the crime had been premeditated. “The accused purchased a knife and blade before taking the child, and the body has been sent for a postmortem,” she stated. The investigation is ongoing.
Madhav, a native of Visakhapatnam, relocated to Pune in 2016 for work. He is currently in police custody, with legal proceedings set to follow.
