00:11It is Friday, March 21st.
00:12It's been a minute since we did one of these things since the season ended, but it's time
00:16to jump right back into it as we are just a little over a month away from the NFL draft.
00:22We'll get into all of your draft talk, rumors, speculation, um, you know, all of that good
00:31stuff as it approaches here, beginning April 24th from frigid green, but I don't know the
00:37green Bay cold in April.
00:39I don't know.
00:40I've never been there.
00:41Never will be.
00:42Uh, but free agency things happening for the Cowboys.
00:45Again, not a lot as expected as they're just never, never, never big players these days
00:52in free agency.
00:53Um, but still things to talk about the best, uh, and most interesting things I can think
00:59of these days right now, uh, as, as the first wave here, a free agency is pretty much done
01:05are the rumors and speculation because the Cowboys have some holes to fill and we know
01:10they'll be looking at, uh, you know, wide receivers in the draft, offensive and defensive
01:16line help in the draft.
01:19But, uh, Cooper rush is gone as he's over there with your Baltimore Ravens.
01:26And that's not something I think the Cowboys expected, just like, I don't think they expected
01:32Rico Dowdle to be gone.
01:34Um, I think that kind of took them by surprise.
01:38So they're going to need a backup quarterback.
01:42Now will they draft somebody?
01:43This isn't the best draft class for quarterbacks to be quite honest.
01:47I'm not really huge on any of these guys.
01:50Maybe you are.
01:51That's great.
01:52Uh, Cam Ward should or Sanders generally considered to be the two best in the draft.
01:58If it was any other draft and if all 32 NFL teams had great starting quarterbacks, these
02:03guys wouldn't go anywhere before the third round.
02:05I don't think, um, I just not that big on them, but you have teams desperate for quarterbacks.
02:12So you will get got you, you know, the Browns, the giants, hell, even the Titans, um, they
02:18may be giving up on will Levis.
02:20Those are your top three teams picking one through three, and they could all potentially
02:25take a quarterback.
02:26So one of those guys is going to go in the top three.
02:28You may have both of them going in the top three.
02:30I don't know.
02:31No one knows what the Browns are going to do.
02:33Good Lord.
02:34What a mess.
02:35Um, but rather than maybe finding a backup quarterback in the draft, which, you know,
02:43Dak just starts his brand new, uh, what $40 million a year, $60 million a year.
02:51His new contract just starts this year.
02:53You guys, in case y'all didn't know that, uh, that he signed last off season that just
02:57goes into effect this year.
02:58So Dak's here for the next four years with all of that money.
03:03Um, so do you go get a quarterback in the draft for Dak to back him up, maybe potentially
03:11replace him, or do you bring some, a young quarterback in, if there's someone you like
03:15out in the league, that's been a recent draft pick, well, there are rumors already.
03:21And from a pretty reliable source, um, so, you know, a lot of these so-called, uh, you
03:29know, insiders and look, I'm not, I never claimed to be an insider.
03:32I just take information that I find and I regurgitate it to you guys.
03:36Um, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who I've found to be a somewhat reliable source in all
03:41of this has a quarterback linked via a possible trade to the Dallas Cowboys.
03:49And that is Joe Milton.
03:51The third, the current new England, uh, Patriots backup quarterback, Jeremy
03:57Fowler says that the Cowboys among other teams, there's other teams
04:01interested in him too.
04:03I know that he's been linked to the, uh, Cleveland Brown starting job, which is
04:08weird, uh, as they have the number two pick, they can go get whoever they want.
04:12Uh, but Jeremy Fowler says that Joe Milton has been a name link to the Cowboys.
04:17They are just the latest team to show interest in him.
04:20And he noted on Wednesday's edition of NFL live that the Patriots are willing
04:26to discuss a trade for him and that he mentioned on the show as well, the
04:32Cowboys, uh, they're looking for a good backup, a young backup, and maybe
04:36somebody that they could develop into a starter behind Dak when he's finally
04:40done, which maybe sooner than later, if these injuries keep up, but
04:44that's a show for another day.
04:46Uh, Milton was a sixth round pick out of Tennessee in 2024.
04:49He didn't see a lot of action behind Drake May last season.
04:52So they're really trying really hard to make Drake May the guy up there.
04:57And maybe he will, maybe he won't, uh, he threw for 241 yards and a touchdown
05:03on 22 of 29 passing and adding a rushing score on the ground and a win over the
05:09bills, I believe that was their week 18, uh, game and, uh, keep in mind
05:16the bills weren't playing for anything.
05:17I don't believe they played all their starters, but still
05:19against NFL caliber talent.
05:22I'll take it for what it is.
05:24Um, a lot of people thought he was overlooked coming out of
05:27college, out of Tennessee.
05:29Um, he didn't have, you know, stats that jumped off the board for you.
05:33And his only full season as a starter in 2023 for the vols.
05:37He threw for 2,813 yards, 20 touchdowns, five picks, and he rushed for 299 yards
05:44and seven touchdowns on the ground in the sec, those aren't horrible numbers,
05:50but they're not numbers that jump off the stats sheet for you when you're
05:54looking at quarterbacks to draft.
05:56Right.
05:57Um, except for maybe the sixth round, right.
06:01When you're taking a flyer on a guy and that's exactly what
06:03the Patriots did for him.
06:06Um, so, you know, trades have been discussed with the Patriots
06:11from teams regarding Milton.
06:14The Patriots added Josh Dobbs and free agency earlier this month.
06:20Um, you would think that he would win the backup role over Milton
06:26in, in camp, in a camp situation.
06:29Again, Drake may be in the start of there.
06:31Maybe, maybe not.
06:33I would love to see, uh, Joe Milton three, JM three, whatever
06:37he's going to be called Joe Milton.
06:40Um, I would like to see him have an opportunity to, to, to
06:45compete for a starting job.
06:47There was no way he was going to win the starting job in, in new England
06:52because Drake may was crowned the future starter because of where they drafted
06:56him and he's the, he's the golden boy in new England.
07:00Um, Milton, I think would have a great opportunity in a lot of teams camps.
07:05I don't think he's horrible.
07:07I haven't watched a ton of film on him.
07:09I did watch him play in the sec quite a bit, and I never thought that he was,
07:15you know, going to be a top pick, but I always thought he would be serviceable
07:19in the NFL, um, and maybe he, with the right team and the right situation
07:23and the right system, which all quarterbacks need those things to add
07:27up for them would be a decent, a decent NFL quarterback, you know,
07:31especially with his mobility.
07:32He's got huge mobility.
07:34He reminds me, I'll tell you this.
07:34He reminds me a lot of Dak coming out of Mississippi state with his legs,
07:39his ability to run, which Dak certainly does not have anymore.
07:43That strength to his game early on his, that success he had that rookie
07:48season after Romo's injury was his ability to run and move around and
07:54make decisions with his legs.
07:56And he can't do that anymore.
07:58I'm not saying that's not a good quarterback anymore.
08:00Clearly he is, uh, whatever side of the fence you sit on that opinion.
08:04But I think he is, I still think that's good.
08:07Uh, and I would like to see a better offensive line in front of him.
08:11That's going to be true of anybody.
08:12So is Jalen or, uh, is Joe Milton the third, see the future quarterback for
08:17the Cowboys, probably not.
08:21Could he be a serviceable backup behind Dak?
08:23Who's probably going to miss five games for the next four years of his career.
08:29I mean, we hope not, but let's just, you know, throw it on the table.
08:33That's going to miss some time every year, probably for the rest
08:36of his pro career with injuries.
08:38Uh, would you like to have somebody there?
08:39You know, Cooper rush was, was adequate.
08:41I think we could have done better than Cooper rush the last
08:43couple of years as a backup.
08:46Maybe Joe Milton's that guy.

08:50Cause right now the Cowboys have none.
08:52Um, I think we'll Greer's under contract.
