00:00Alright, Moons, was that a pretty satisfying way to bring up 200 games for Australia?
00:05Yeah, really cool. I think Eden Park is a pretty iconic venue in New Zealand, so first
00:10and foremost to do it here was pretty special and had a few close family and friends in
00:15the crowd, so that was nice as well, but to play the way we did was probably the icing
00:19on the cake for sure.
00:20What was the chat at the Eden Park break about how you and Bowling wanted to go about that
00:24chase?
00:25I think in those sort of chases you just want to take the scoreboard out of it and just
00:28bat to the conditions, and we sort of spoke about what the wicket was doing and that the
00:32ball looked like it was coming on quite nice and there was a bit of pace and bounce in
00:35the wicket, so that was going to suit us just fine if we played good cricket shots and played
00:41our natural game. So I think when you hit a few out of the middle early in your innings
00:45like Volley and I did, it's pretty easy to keep going.
00:48What did you think you guys did well to keep up with Meeley and Sophie and Sheck, even
00:53as they've been at the crease for a long period?
00:56I think we were pretty good at just keeping the stumps in play, not giving them too much
01:00width and bowling a few big changes of pace, I think that was probably the difference.
01:05We kind of worked out that the ball was sliding on pretty nicely and it was, you know, pace
01:11on was quite easy to hit, so those real big changes worked really well from Belsey and
01:15T-Mac and, you know, they got a bit of a flurry at the back end and probably got a few more
01:21than we would have liked, but I think at the start of the day we would have taken chasing
01:2537.
01:26How tricky is it adjusting to the dimensions of somewhere like Eden Park?
01:30Yeah, it is a bit of a funny shaped ground, you know, it's probably not too dissimilar
01:35to Adelaide Oval, just the opposite, with the straight boundaries being a little bit
01:40shorter but still for us it's still a fair hit down the ground, there's just those
01:44real short pockets behind the bat. As we saw a few runs go down there and you got to work
01:49out how far off the boundary you got to be as a fielder and, you know, how hard to hit
01:52it in what pocket of the ground when you're batting, so I guess that's the problem
01:56solving part of the game that we really love.
01:58And just on Volley's innings, what did you make of that and how important will this
02:03be for her to get that first 50?
02:04Yeah, she was amazing, I think she just came out all guns blazing and absolutely smacked
02:09them out of the middle of her bat. You know, she's not afraid to take the game on, she's
02:13got that fearless nature about her and, you know, she's had such a great year so it's
02:17really nice to see her reap the rewards of that and, you know, come out like she did
02:22today and get her first international 50, which I'm sure will be the first of many.
02:26And how exciting is it for the future of this team over the next few years? It's not like
02:30Volley's just ready to go when Midge is injured.
02:32Yeah, it's amazing, isn't it? We've just got this, you know, production line of young players
02:36ready to step up and perform in this team and, you know, they look like they've been
02:40here for years, you know, it's hard to believe Volley's in her first 10 games playing for
02:44Australia when it looks like she's been doing it for probably as long as I have, although
02:49I've got a few more warm-ups behind me than she does, so I think that's just, I guess,
02:54the benefit of what Korea Australia have done in the ACA in making sure that our domestic
02:58programs are as, you know, high performance as they can be.
03:02What do you think the team will look at maybe tweaking or improving on for the second game?
03:09Yeah, well, I think if we're being really critical we'll probably let a few runs go
03:13at the back end, especially in the field, just a few uncharacteristic missed fields
03:17and things like that. Obviously, getting used to the conditions, not having played
03:21here before might have played a bit of a factor, but we love playing at Mount Maunganui, so
03:26that'll be a really fun ground to play out for those that haven't played there.
03:29And just, is there any update on Ash?
03:31Yeah, so obviously she got a bit of a hit to the finger, I think, so middle of that
03:35it would have probably gone for six, that's how flat it got hit hard, but she's gone off
03:40for some scans and I think the SSSM team will have a discussion once they get some more
03:45info on that.
03:46Thanks.
03:47Thanks.
03:48Thanks.
