00:00Okay, yeah, how are you?
00:03Good good morning. Happy Monday
00:09Congratulations on bloody axe wound what a fun
00:12wild cool
00:14Movie very much up my alley from Dread Central, obviously
00:18But I wanted to hear from both of you starting with sorry
00:21What was your experience the horror films coming in not being in them, but like watching them interacting with horror. Were you a fan?
00:28What was your experience, I would say I am a huge scaredy-cat, let's just start
00:36Saying that like Midsommar is probably my favorite horror film or like oh sweet as it takes place in broad daylight
00:44Scaredy-cat when it comes to the dark
00:47But I of course have always like, you know, I like in terms of like acting
00:51I've always wanted to do that sort of like horror genre
00:55Like yeah, it's really fun to act scared and like kind of access these emotions that you don't normally get to
01:02hopefully on like a daily basis, um, so
01:05Yes, I felt like bloody action was like the perfect blend of like something
01:09I've always wanted to sort of explore with like things that I've I've done because I come from like the comedy world. So yeah
01:18Cool. Well, what about you? I know that you've been in like Dexter and evil but like
01:26It's so funny like I I don't know how I really like kind of slipped into this genre
01:34Yeah, I am I think like we said earlier like cabin in the woods is probably one of my favorite
01:43Horror films like I just like it's such a clever to me like twist on the genre and
01:51I think like that's what I really liked about our script. And I think what really drew me to it. Is that it's
01:58It's like it's more than just like a slasher movie. I think like this premise when I heard about it
02:03I was like, this is so cool. Like I've never seen a film like it
02:08and
02:10It also I think what's really fun about it is I think this movie like definitely knows what it is
02:14And I think that it's it's really embraced that aspect of it
02:19Yeah, well and sorry you talked about coming from a comedy world and I feel like this movie melds comedy really well with the
02:27Horror aspects and something I've talked about a lot with other actors
02:31Is that similarity between comedy and horror like so much more than you would think in terms of like the cathartic release and all that
02:38So I was curious from your perspective
02:40and you too Molly about like
02:42That similarity between comedy and horror and if that was something you really found and got to dig into
02:47while being in this film
02:50Yeah, that's actually a great question. Um, I don't know it this kind of like when you mentioned this it reminds me of like conversation
02:57I conversations I'd have with Matt our director and
03:01he we were kind of talking about pacing and like trying to come up with words that like
03:06Encapsulated like Abby's like pace and Abby's like journey
03:09It's something that we kept coming back to was like this word bouncy
03:14Like bouncy bouncy bouncy and I think it's interesting because I think that word can be used to describe both horror and
03:22Comedy at the same time. I do think there's something to the timing of
03:28Like comedies all in threes and I wouldn't I would also think that like horror is like that as well
03:33Like I agree that kind of what you're mentioning with like that cathartic release of like, you know, there's that stressful moment
03:39There's like silence and all of a sudden it like hits and it's like a similar thing of like when you get to the punchline
03:46Yeah, I think there are similarities between the two
03:53Yeah, I think pacing is is the key to like really success in really anything but I think especially like
04:03You know, you can't just like
04:05Death death death death you have to have beats of something else or else none of it hits anymore and that's like it's yeah
04:13It's like what Sari was saying with comedy like you have to let the joke land
04:18Ruminate a little bit and then you can
04:21do a second beat of that and I think that like it just like
04:26It also I think like, you know it
04:30to me it just makes the film more enjoyable to like that it's not like
04:36Yes
04:40Makes the scary moment scarier, you know
04:43Yeah
04:43Well those gore moments in this movie like the impact that these bought like I was not expecting some of the net especially like at
04:50The beginning like it's gnarly and I love that right off the bat
04:55It is just disgusting and the comedy I think mixes really well with how gory this movie is
05:00It's it's a really good balance I feel like I think my favorite kill comes in the cheerleaders room and I'll leave it at that
05:10We were on set when that was happening I remember and me and Molly were like
05:15fascinated by
05:16We won't give too much away but like shout out to the special effects team. It's really crazy
05:23like it is so crazy how
05:26Much they did with the special effects like I've I was blown away by it
05:33Sorry, sorry, sorry, I was gonna say that death and
05:37Margo's
05:38Sweet Margo's death
05:40Which comes at a later different point. Yeah
05:43Let's give you such a deeper appreciation for horror
05:46Even if you don't watch it or like love it
05:48It's got to give you such a deeper appreciation for the craft just to see people make these things
05:53It's crazy, isn't it? Just to see what people are able to make with like so it's a while
05:58How much work goes into every part of it? Not even like just the special effects, but like even just like our set deck and like
06:05props that we had like your room is
06:11Phone I was like I need one. Is it the hamburger phone in Juno?
06:15I was like, okay another phone that I need in my life
06:18Easy and like it was also I'm pretty sure it was the first time that I had a room that was built for me
06:27on like a stage and I was like, I
06:30It was the coolest thing ever. I took my they gave me my headboard
06:34I got like a couple of like the posters and stuff that were up there
06:38I was also coincidentally moving into a new apartment right after
06:42Well
06:46Thank you both so much I have to wrap but it was lovely to chat with you a little bit about bloody axe when
06:51Congratulations. This film is such a blast
