Tyler Forness discusses why Minnesota Vikings fans need to ignore the national media when they comment on Aaron Rodgers.

00:00Aaron Rodgers is not coming to the Minnesota Vikings,
00:04but why are insiders keeping the door open? Let's talk about it.
00:11Reporting on Wednesday morning from NFL Network's Tom Pelosero stated that the Minnesota Vikings
00:15were not going to be targeting Aaron Rodgers to be their starting quarterback in 2025.
00:21But it was really interesting because he used the phrasing,
00:24at this time, they would not be pursuing him. It's very interesting that they use
00:30that kind of verbiage. It's something that Diana Rossini has been using as well,
00:34that they're considering it. Why is it all this vague language? Why are they
00:41keeping that door open? Well, it's simple. Money. Ratings. Clicks. Traffic.
00:50These are all situations to make companies money. How do you make money? It's the first take
00:56strategy. Keep talking about it. Make it interesting. Deliver value to the viewer.
01:02And part of the problem is, the value to the viewer used to be stuff like highlights on
01:06SportsCenter. It used to be thoughtful conversations like the sports reporters on Sunday mornings.
01:13Mitch Albom. Bob Ryan. Mike Lupica. That used to be what we craved.
01:20Now, it's just the latest 30 second update about Aaron Rodgers, about the Bengals contract stuff.
01:29It's not about substance. And they're keeping it open because they can keep driving traffic with
01:34it. They kept talking about the Justin Jefferson contract for months. It was monotonous. It was
01:40annoying. And it didn't make a ton of sense. They're doing the same thing here. Using the
01:47verbiage, not at this time, is a key indicator that they want to keep the story going.
01:53But here's the reality. He's not coming here. This is J.J. McCarthy's team.
01:58They have made it clear that this is J.J. McCarthy's team. So where do we go from here?
02:04Well, unless Aaron Rodgers for some reason puts his pen on the dotted line, which
02:10the Vikings, I believe, are only do that if J.J. McCarthy has a catastrophic injury that ends his
02:142025 season. Just ignore it. It's frustrating and annoying. But just ignore it. It's not going to
02:23happen. And insiders need to be able to continue to drive discussion because that's how they get
02:29people to click on their stuff. That's how they get people to read them. That's how they get
02:33people to watch their content. Because that's how they stay relevant. And that's not insulting.
02:39That's just the nature of media today. And it's frustrating for Vikings fans.
