00:00:00The top story this time, very interesting, comes in from Karnataka and this is about
00:00:05our leaders in Karnataka, a state that is facing a cash crunch.
00:00:09They cannot pay their welfare schemes.
00:00:12Despite ranking highest among all these categories, the MLAs are demanding a hike in their salary.
00:00:19So while they are expecting everyone else to not really push for the guarantees in the
00:00:23schemes right now, a total of 31 MLAs in Karnataka possess assets exceeding 100 crore rupees.
00:00:29Deputy Chief Minister DK Shiv Kumar has declared a wealth surpassing over 1,400 crore rupees,
00:00:37ranking him as the second richest MLA in India, across the country.
00:00:42As per a report by the Association for Democratic Reforms, Karnataka leads the country in the
00:00:46number of billionaire MLAs.
00:00:48Andhra Pradesh follows in second place, 27 billionaire legislators.
00:00:54Maharashtra ranks third with 18.
00:00:57And Karnataka tops this list, so I rated it again, very interesting, Karnataka tops
00:01:01the list with the richest MLAs, followed by Andhra Pradesh and then Maharashtra and interestingly
00:01:06it is in these states that right now in Karnataka, where in total the assets of all these MLAs
00:01:14amount to be about 14,000 crore rupees, it's all about money.
00:01:18And then these MLAs now want a hike in their salary.
00:01:23Sagar, I am only looking at the irony of this case this morning, but tell me about
00:01:31this pay hike.
00:01:33I don't think the Karnataka MLAs are paid very poorly that they are demanding a hike
00:01:38at a time when there is barely any money to pay for the guarantee schemes and welfare
00:01:43schemes.
00:01:44Absolutely, the priority has been placed on all the public representatives in the state
00:01:50of Karnataka because there is a lot of pending amount which should be paid for the beneficiaries
00:01:56in the guarantees.
00:01:57And apart from that, even if you notice that they are also collecting, hiking the prices
00:02:02of electricity, water and various other things, instead of trying to compensate with the money
00:02:09that they are trying to get as a hike as a salary, they are demanding more money.
00:02:17And if you notice that ADR, the report which has been submitted has clearly stated that
00:02:21around 31 MLAs are the billionaires from Karnataka and these are the same MLAs who are demanding
00:02:28a salary hike.
00:02:29All right, so we'll be tracking all that and more.
00:02:31Remember, there are, of course, additional, the kind of reimbursements, everything that
00:02:37will be included in these hike as and when it happens, but Karnataka MLAs clearly feel
00:02:42they deserve a hike even though their constituents may not be able to really right now be able
00:02:48to go ahead with the salary hike.
00:02:51So we'll be tracking that and more.
00:02:53But here's meanwhile, a power tariff hike in Karnataka.
00:02:56Just to give you a lowdown, starting from the 1st of April, the electricity prices in
00:03:00Karnataka will be increased by 36 paise per unit.
00:03:04The decision is expected to impact millions of consumers across the state, surcharge will
00:03:08be added to the existing electricity bills for the financial year 2025-26.
00:03:12Remember, there's already been a hike on several other issues, including essential items like milk.
00:03:17According to the latest hike, if a house, let's say, uses 250 units of electricity per
00:03:21month and paid over Rs. 2,200 from 1st of April, same family will now have to possibly
00:03:28pay Rs. 2,300.
00:03:31This comes right after a cash-strapped state proposing a salary hike almost 100% for its MLAs.
00:03:39Now, the BJP, of course, has jumped on this against the Dharamayya government.
00:03:42They are saying this is going to burden common people.
00:03:44They are saying it's the freebie model that one has collapsed and that has led to more
00:03:49failures for the state.
00:03:53It's good, right?
00:03:54So if the governor office has agreed, that's what you meant, right?
00:03:58Raj Bhawan will agree, right?
00:04:00So it's good, right?
00:04:01Bill also I presented in Assam.
00:04:03So it will get passed.
00:04:05It's necessary, sir.
00:04:07Why it's not necessary?
00:04:08Why do you feel it's not necessary?
00:04:10You mean salary hike is not necessary?
00:04:12Everybody is, sir.
00:04:13What's wrong with that?
00:04:14Committee is there which has recommended.
00:04:16You take the example of Singapore.
00:04:18The prime minister of Singapore, the ministers of Singapore, the MPs of Singapore are the
00:04:24highest paid in the world.
00:04:26Do you know why?
00:04:28That makes them very independent.
00:04:31Non-corrupt.
00:04:35You have to learn sometimes.
00:04:37Do we compare our salaries to Singapore's one?
00:04:39We cannot.
00:04:40But still, at least this one has to be paid for every month.
00:04:44The practice of increasing the salary of public representatives by public representatives themselves
00:04:51is a very wrong method.
00:04:53Nowhere in the world do people increase their own salary.
00:04:56It is always done by someone else.
00:04:59Either the superiors or there is a committee.
00:05:02In the case of MLAs or MPs, there is a practice of increasing the salary by themselves,
00:05:07which is very, very wrong.
00:05:09As it is, people look at politicians in a very, very cynical way.
00:05:14By doing these kind of things, people tend to laugh at us.
00:05:19See, this all in a democracy, it is not correct.
00:05:25It should not happen to anybody.
00:05:27See, this all is a personal thing.
00:05:30Making political issues is not correct.
00:05:33This should not be trapped by anybody in this house.
00:05:36The central government has failed to control the hike of the price
00:05:41of commodities used by the common people.
00:05:44Let the central government curb the hike of the commodities that the common people are using.
00:05:51It is a routine process.
00:05:53The metro or KSTC, whatever it is there.
00:05:57Even electricity also.
00:05:59It was spending since long time.
00:06:02So, it is enhanced as per the routine work.
00:06:04There is nothing wrong in that.
00:06:06And we are giving amenities to the people.
00:06:08Congress government is going to give benefit to the people.
00:06:11But there is something more sinister and dangerous that appears to be happening
00:06:16with the MLAs and ministers in Karnataka.
00:06:18Karnataka's minister K.N. Rajanna has made an explosive claim in the assembly
00:06:22about 48 politicians including possibly some central leaders being victims of honey trap.
00:06:29He has claimed that there has been a political motive behind these attempts.
00:06:32Now, the controversy emerged amid the ongoing power struggle within the Karnataka government.
00:06:37How are the leaders especially from Karnataka getting honey trapped?
00:06:41Who is doing it?
00:06:42Here is a report.
00:06:47What started as whispers of a Karnataka minister being honey trapped
00:06:50has now spiralled into a full-blown scandal.
00:06:55State Co-operative Minister K.N. Rajanna claimed in the assembly
00:06:59that at least 48 people including national figures had been caught in honey traps rocking Karnataka politics.
00:07:08I will just tell you what is being done by this CD and pen drive.
00:07:14There are 48 people.
00:07:17Not one or two.
00:07:19It is not just our politicians.
00:07:22There are women and men from all political parties involved in this.
00:07:30In that sense, what is the accusation against me?
00:07:34It is not right for me to answer this accusation.
00:07:40Rajanna has written a letter to state home minister demanding an enquiry into the matter.
00:07:46I don't know. I don't know.
00:07:49I come to know only when the department...
00:07:52You see, there may be so many speculations going on.
00:07:55But if I had to say officially, then I had to get information.
00:08:00So I have asked the department to give me some information.
00:08:03So far nobody has told us in the department or there is any complaint in the department.
00:08:11The BJP slammed the Siddharth Amaya government and sought an independent probe.
00:08:16More than 45-48 leaders, they are the victims of this honey trap.
00:08:21And he did not name anybody but he has said that some national leaders have also been victims.
00:08:28So I am 100... I mean, this matter, you can't expect any fair investigation by SIT or anybody else.
00:08:36Nor by a retired high court judge. It has to be referred to SIT by investigation.
00:08:41Who is doing the honey trap? Who is the kingpin?
00:08:45Who is doing the investment?
00:08:47It should be investigated.
00:08:49The accused is not a common man.
00:08:54The journalist is not the accused.
00:08:56The common man is not the accused.
00:08:58The accused is a senior leader.
00:09:02He is the minister of the Congress government.
00:09:33I have news coming in from the hill state of Uttarakhand.
00:09:37It appears that the Uttarakhand government is doing a crackdown on illegal madarsas, the Islamic seminary schools.
00:09:43Dhami government has seized over 100 madarsas in Uttarakhand.
00:09:47Remember this hill state has faced communal tensions also recently.
00:09:51Illegal madarsas are facing the acts now in Uttarakhand.
00:09:55Earlier also about 90 illegal Islamic schools were shut in Dehradun.
00:10:01The Uttarakhand government continuously taking a tough stand against what they say are illegally operating madarsas.
00:10:07Administration sealed over 16 in Udham Singh Nagar district and 2 in Haridwar.
00:10:13So far over 100 in total have been locked in the entire state.
00:10:17So this is happening in batches.
00:10:19My colleague Ankit Sharma joins me for the latest on that.
00:10:22Ankit, tell me more about this.
00:10:25What has triggered the government's decision?
00:10:27Where all are primarily these madarsas?
00:10:30Are where they have been shut and why?
00:10:56And this needs to be probed.
00:10:59And after that the various authorities special team is investigating into the various sources of funds received by madarsas in Uttarakhand.
00:11:10And so far it is believed that more than 300 illegal madarsas might be running in the state.
00:11:20And going further against the illegal operations of these madarsas,
00:11:26government is taking action and have sealed more than 110 madarsas across the state.
00:11:33And the maximum comes from Dehradun which stands at 92.
00:11:39So these madarsas are being checked every day and according to the details received so far,
00:11:46every day at least 4 and 5 madarsas are being sealed in various districts.
00:11:51The government says that they are not going to stop here.
00:11:54They are going to completely wipe out the illegal network of madarsas and mazars.
00:12:00So far CM Ghami also said earlier that they have razzed the encroachments on government land
00:12:07and which totals to more than 3000 acres so far.
00:12:12And going further on madarsas action, the government will ensure that none of the illegal madarsas are being run in the state.
00:12:22So this crackdown primarily as the government says is on illegally operated madarsas.
00:12:26These are specific Islamic schools.
00:12:28Remember that there are government operated as well but these are the ones as the administration says
00:12:33had no registration or prior information about how and why were they running in the state of Uttarakhand.
00:12:41This week the biggest story coming in from Nagpur
00:13:00and this is with regard to now remember it's been 5 days since what we saw
00:13:04the mob violence, the arson in the evening on March 17th.
00:13:08Prohibitory orders remain imposed in parts of the city
00:13:11and today remember is going to be a sensitive day.
00:13:14It's the day of Friday prayers.
00:13:15There's a congregation expected in the afternoon as well.
00:13:18A strict curfew will likely be issued in areas like Tehsil and Ganeshpet.
00:13:24There are some other localities where curfew has been relaxed or lifted
00:13:28specifically between 2 and 4 pm.
00:13:30That's where the namaz prayers will be offered.
00:13:32Politics however has continued to escalate.
00:13:35Chief Minister Fadnavis said no writer would be spared
00:13:37even if they have to be dragged out of their grave.
00:13:40The opposition has hit out.
00:13:41Mahavika Sagari says chief minister is just trying to save his face.
00:13:45Now the fact that there was a total collapse of the intelligence sharing unit on Monday
00:13:50in addition to that Muslim clerics have given a call.
00:13:53They want Vicky Kaushal's film Chawa to be banned, to be restricted now to the audience.
00:13:58Remember the film basically depicts the atrocities
00:14:01and documented atrocities during Aurangzeb's rule and against Sambhaji Maharaj.
00:14:06Clerics have also said that the film incited violence
00:14:10and the makers of the movie should face a trial in the court now.
00:14:28It's a shame that the intelligence unit of Maharashtra state
00:14:35government has collapsed under the leadership of Shri Devendra Fadnavis.
00:15:03Of course he will say these words or we will dig them out from their graves etc.
00:15:06because those are his face savers.
00:15:08But what is unfortunate is whatever information he continues to share is in bits and pieces.
00:15:13Why not have an independent inquiry and have a report submitted on the floor of the assembly
00:15:19so that total truth can come out.
00:15:22This bits and pieces of sharing information is the reason why we saw the inflammation of riots
00:15:28and we saw how violence took a serious turn and people lost their lives.
00:15:32The martyr mind of Nagpur, Fahim, has a connection with Bangladesh as well as Malegaon.
00:15:42The way violence took place in Nagpur, the first message of social media
00:15:51was made by Fahim from Bangladesh.
00:15:56The deeds of Fahim have now come in front of the people.
00:16:00Fahim will be severely punished.
00:16:26Shivaji Maharaj is the hero of the country.
00:16:31No innocent person should be prosecuted.
00:16:34Those who are involved in this riot should definitely be prosecuted severely.
00:16:39I have ordered the C.P.
00:16:41I have told the Collector that the people who have lost their lives in this riot,
00:16:45the poor people who have lost their lives,
00:16:48should be compensated within 48 hours.
00:16:52The poor people who have lost their lives in this riot should definitely be compensated.
00:16:59I will immediately meet the Collector.
00:17:01I will also tell the government to compensate them.
00:17:04I have written a letter to Home Minister Amisha regarding the film Chhaba.
00:17:12The film is such that after watching it, young people get excited.
00:17:20This is why Nagpur riot took place.
00:17:26Nagpur riot is such that if a person is a criminal, then this film is Chhaba.
00:17:32This is why this film should be banned.
00:17:37Its director, producer and writer should conduct legal proceedings against these people.
00:18:07Participate in the rallies on Ram Navmi.
00:18:09You will see these rallies and occasions celebrated in other parts of the country too.
00:18:13But while attacking the TMC government,
00:18:15Suvendu Adhikari claims that this year's Ram Navmi is special.
00:18:18It falls on the year of the Mahakumbh.
00:18:20The state government must ensure that celebrations are not hampered.
00:18:24The BJP has even released a slogan for the 2026 Bengal elections
00:18:28after several posters were put up in the state.
00:18:31The posters say Hindu Hindu Bhai Bhai and Hindus will bring BJP to power in 2026.
00:18:38Are we already looking at what upcoming Bengal elections are going to have primarily as its highlights?
00:18:44Bengal Police has asked KKR, the IPL team, to reschedule or shift the match with LSG on 6th April
00:18:54which falls on Ram Navmi because they then won't be able to provide enough security.
00:18:58There will already be heavy deployment in the state and that could get divided.
00:19:02So are we looking at an IPL match reschedule also on the Ram Navmi day?
00:19:06I am very sure that all stakeholders will act with a sense of responsibility
00:19:12and Ram Navmi will pass on in a very peaceful and harmonious manner.
00:19:16There have been matches here before and there is an admin here.
00:19:20It will remain as it is. It will be better than that.
00:19:24There has been a request to reschedule the match.
00:19:31We haven't got any response from them.
00:19:34This is a routine.
00:19:36The opening ceremony of the match, how it is being arranged,
00:19:41this was the meeting and that was the visit.
00:19:44But the match on Ram Navmi on 6th April, they have clearly forgotten about it
00:19:48because it is not possible to provide police.
00:19:51That is why they have requested to reschedule the match.
00:19:54On the basis of that, we have requested the BCCI.
00:19:57But there is no response from the BCCI.
00:19:59If they are rescheduling the match or reshifting it from one place to another,
00:20:04there has been no mail from them.
00:20:06They have cleared it. They can't provide any police protection.
00:20:09Big news coming in from Russia and Ukraine.
00:20:12Putin has signed two big decrees. What does this mean?
00:20:15Ukrainian citizens who are currently in Russia, illegally allegedly,
00:20:19must leave the country by 10th of September or be legalized.
00:20:23That is become, at least put it on documents,
00:20:27that they are as Ukrainians living in Russia.
00:20:30Foreigners in Donbass and Novorossiya are required to provide proof
00:20:35of their negative HIV status, drug use history by the 10th of June.
00:20:39This is very interesting.
00:20:40So in many ways, remember, as we are expecting Russia and Ukraine
00:20:43to end the war, at least begin with a good ceasefire for a long time.
00:20:47But Putin already has said to Ukrainian citizens who may be living in Russia illegally
00:20:52to either leave the country by 10th of September or be legalized.
00:20:56And then saying if there are foreigners living in certain areas
00:20:59and areas that have been either associated with war,
00:21:03especially for example Donbass, are required to provide proof
00:21:06of their negative HIV status, drug use history by June.
00:21:09India Today Global's Shashank Mattu is joining me for the latest on that.
00:21:13Shashank, good morning.
00:21:15Tell me more about this decree, very interesting,
00:21:17because it's not exactly about the war and yet say so much about it.
00:21:45of the people who are living in these territories can transition into Russian citizenship.
00:21:50This is not the first time he's signed a decree on citizenship.
00:21:54But the idea really here is that people who are living in the Donbass,
00:21:59as you were mentioning, as well as other territories that Russia has conquered
00:22:04in the Ukraine war will have a certain period of time within which they will have to acquire
00:22:09Russian citizenship or they will be living illegally, as it were, in Russian territory.
00:22:14The idea is that the territories that you have, you want the people living in those territories
00:22:18to transition into acquiring Russian citizenship, become Russian,
00:22:22so that your control over these parts of Ukraine becomes much more solid,
00:22:26much more firm and therefore the gains that Russia has made in this war
00:22:30will become therefore effectively part of Russia
00:22:32and the people of these regions will also become part of Russia.
00:22:35Alright, keep tracking all the latest on that.
00:22:38And remember this will also signify whether there will be a change on the ground.
00:22:42Shashank, stay on with me. I have more news coming in. I want you on that as well.
00:22:56What's happening in our neighbour nation, Pakistan,
00:22:58days after the Baloch Liberation Army hijacked the train
00:23:02and then remember there was another attack on the Pakistan Army.
00:23:07Now, a Pakistan Army Captain and 10 terrorists have been killed in an operation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa area.
00:23:12A Pakistani Army Captain and at least 10 terrorists, we are told, associated with the banned outfit,
00:23:17were killed during a gunfight in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's area, which is their Ismail Khan district.
00:23:22This is, remember, the official statement also that's come in from the Inter-Services Public Relations, ISPR,
00:23:29has said, acknowledging that there's been an incident.
00:23:33Remember, in this week itself, we have seen a train hijacked hostage crisis by Baloch fighters.
00:23:40We have seen an attack on Pakistan Army's, who were ambushed as their cavalcade was attacked and then this.
00:23:47Tell me more about this as Shashank Matoo joins us.
00:23:50What are you hearing? What's happening in the neighbour nation?
00:23:54Pakistan is really in the jaws of a terrible terrorism problem at this point in time.
00:23:59Just to put in some context, some numbers.
00:24:02Just last month, there were 91 deaths in Pakistan, 35 security personnel, 20 civilians, 36 militants.
00:24:09So, this is a scourge that is increasing day by day in Pakistan.
00:24:15Really, thousands of people have died over the last three years.
00:24:18Sitting here in India, people who do not track Pakistan may not recognise how deep the problem has become.
00:24:23We're talking about Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
00:24:25We also have, of course, nationwide attacks by the Pakistani Taliban.
00:24:31You also have, in Balochistan, attacks by the Baloch Liberation Army,
00:24:35including, of course, the Jaffar train hijacking that we saw over the course of this month,
00:24:40as well as a suicide bombing that also took place just this month.
00:24:45So, the idea, of course, for the Pakistani security forces is that in region after region,
00:24:50political mismanagement, as well as a heavy-handed military rule,
00:24:53as well as economic issues, social issues, over a long period of time,
00:24:56have created this sort of perfect storm for the Pakistani government,
00:25:00where in every single problem, almost, they are facing a significant terrorist threat
00:25:04and they seem unable to deal with it, even militarily,
00:25:07which was their traditional go-to option to dealing with sensitive political and social issues.
00:25:11That's so true. At least the Pakistan military believed that their own military,
00:25:16at least internally, would be strong.
00:25:18But remember, it's also a country that's sheltered, supported terrorism against India for so long.
00:25:23Now, on its own borders, it's facing wrath coming its way.
00:25:27Thank you very much, Shashank Bachchu, for all the latest on this.
00:25:49Dozens have been injured in the fire.
00:25:51So, it was a bus full of passengers that has caught fire.
00:25:55We are trying to get more details.
00:25:57Remember, more like a small-tempo traveller, so to say, as we call it, usually, which is for tours.
00:26:04We are told that there was an earlier rivalry incident that led to a driver
00:26:09pushing the vehicle in a certain way that led to fire
00:26:16and in which four people have died because you can see the vehicle is still moving.
00:26:21Let's listen in first to what exactly happened, details coming in,
00:26:24then I'll go across to my colleague on the ground.
00:26:46My colleague Vidya joins me this morning.
00:27:00Vidya, tell us more about this incident.
00:27:02Who is this driver? What exactly happened?
00:27:05Because it's not just about his revenge.
00:27:07He literally put other people's life in danger.
00:27:11That sounds really shocking.
00:27:13If he really wanted to take revenge, this was really the way that it should have happened
00:27:18because it led to the death of employees, including those who were actually on a daily commute.
00:27:25In fact, according to the Pune Police, Janardhan was the person, the driver.
00:27:32His salary had been reduced during Diwali.
00:27:37And that's one of the reasons why he was holding that revenge feeling against his employers.
00:27:45And that is why he wanted to take revenge.
00:27:47And for that, he actually planned it out in a very clear manner,
00:27:52in which he stored very inflammable chemicals inside the bus.
00:27:58He put on some rags with toners on it, which would become extremely inflammable.
00:28:05And he just had to light a matchstick, which led to this entire tragedy.
00:28:09And this investigation certainly brings to a whole lot of issue
00:28:15as to how a person of such a mindset could have been employed by a company,
00:28:22which has now led to this tragedy.
00:28:25Again, raising the mental health concerns here, remember,
00:28:28because we do not know, imagine a driver suddenly decides to take revenge.
00:28:32Nothing connected to the passengers in the bus.
00:28:34How is his health status? Has he been arrested?
00:28:37What are you picking up about the details?
00:28:39What is the company saying? What are the police adding further to this?
00:28:43Well, the accused has been arrested.
00:28:46In fact, it was during his interrogation that they found out that he had the knowledge.
00:28:53And it was he himself who had planned this entire execution of this fire to take revenge.
00:28:59That was something really shocking that has come out in the forefront
00:29:03with this entire investigation.
00:29:05And the Pune police, not just invoking murder charges,
00:29:09but also making sure that they build a watertight case against him
00:29:15so that it could prove as an example for those who want to do such kind of things.
00:29:21So certainly the Pune police not taking anything lightly
00:29:24and planning to build a very watertight case against this accused.
00:29:28And my final question is just a confirmation that there have been deaths also in this case?
00:29:32Yes, there have been.
00:29:34In this entire incident, this entire bus was on a daily commute
00:29:41wherein it was transporting about 14 people.
00:29:45And suddenly when the bus caught fire,
00:29:48it claimed the lives of four people,
00:29:50Subhash Bhosle, Shankar Shinde, Gurudas Lokre and Raju Chavan.
00:29:54These are the four people who had died in this tragic incident.
00:29:58And it was during the interrogation of the driver
00:30:02that this entire issue really came in the forefront.
00:30:04Terrible. Four people, innocent people dead
00:30:07because the driver wanted to take revenge over some other issue
00:30:11that had cropped up earlier and against the company.
00:30:15But this, remember, is a reminder of how there should be a certain grievous redressal.
00:30:21Otherwise, we have innocent people just going on and about their life,
00:30:24possibly heading to office
00:30:26and someone else's revenge feelings lead to their loss of life as well.
00:30:31Vidya, updating us on this. Thank you very much, Vidya.
00:30:42There is a crackdown happening in Delhi over fake visa and passports.
00:30:46The latest information that I can bring to you right now on this
00:30:49is after a complaint came in from the U.S. Embassy.
00:30:53There's a fake visa crackdown happening.
00:30:56Remember, not just about a fake passport that you must have heard about,
00:30:59but fake visas also happening.
00:31:01That means the stamp not officially coming in from the administration,
00:31:05from the immigration authorities.
00:31:07U.S. Embassy has said that states are giving wrong information on the applicants.
00:31:13American Embassy has put forth a complaint saying
00:31:16that fake documents are being submitted.
00:31:19Delhi Police has started a probe on fake visa syndicate.
00:31:23Because, remember, this is not just about India.
00:31:25It also concerns other countries as well, their agencies too.
00:31:29Himanshu Mishra joins me for the latest on that.
00:31:31Himanshu, give us the details because
00:31:33we have heard about the fake passport scam,
00:31:36but the fake visa is also coming.
00:31:37The fake documents that are being given,
00:31:39how will the Delhi Cops update on this
00:31:42and what has the U.S. Embassy told the Delhi Police?
00:31:46There was a lengthy complaint filed
00:31:49after which the Crime Branch filed an FIR.
00:31:52All the branches of BNS have been set up
00:31:55to work with the cheating fraud syndicate.
00:31:58After setting up all these branches,
00:32:00the police have started an investigation.
00:32:02A specific team has been set up by the Crime Branch
00:32:04to investigate the entire matter.
00:32:06Allegations have been filed that there is a syndicate
00:32:09that is giving wrong documents.
00:32:12And many times, the information is being shared wrongly
00:32:16which is causing problems.
00:32:19So, in this entire complaint,
00:32:21and there are many such incidents
00:32:23which have been reported by the U.S. Embassy
00:32:25in their complaints,
00:32:27which is with the Crime Branch.
00:32:29And mainly, the syndicates working in Haryana, Delhi, Punjab
00:32:36are those people.
00:32:38They are connected to each other.
00:32:39They are different syndicates.
00:32:41So, when the Crime Branch has involved them in fraud,
00:32:44after filing an FIR on the entire complaint,
00:32:47two teams have been set up.
00:32:49One team has worked on the way they work.
00:32:52The documents that have been made fake,
00:32:54where have they been made from?
00:32:56Because the police are trying to find out
00:32:59whether there is only one source
00:33:01of all these fake documents
00:33:03or have they been procured from different sources?
00:33:05So, the investigation is still at the primary stage, Pooja.
00:33:08The police want a breakthrough in this matter as soon as possible.
00:33:38The next time, remember, from the Bharatiya Janata Party
00:33:40has written to the Chief Secretary.
00:33:42And it's a Babu versus Sarkar and Delhi speaker,
00:33:46Delhi Assembly issue right now.
00:33:48Citing instances of senior bureaucrats
00:33:50not responding to communications from the MLAs.
00:33:53Vijendra Gupta seeking intervention from the Chief Secretary
00:33:56to ensure smooth functioning.
00:33:58So, in case you thought that perhaps
00:34:00this tenure of the BGP government in Delhi
00:34:03will be completely smooth because it's a double-engine Sarkar,
00:34:06but it appears not as much, of course,
00:34:08between the centre and the state,
00:34:10but between the state leaders and the bureaucracy,
00:34:13there is an issue.
00:34:14Are the bureaucrats not responding
00:34:17to communication from elected MLAs?
00:34:20Let's listen in to what exactly happened.
00:34:22And very interesting here,
00:34:24that Vijendra Gupta may have written
00:34:26asking that MLAs must be heard by these bureaucrats.
00:34:30They need to respond.
00:34:31Aam Aadmi Party leaders are taking a jibe on this.
00:34:37For the last 10 years,
00:34:39the central government of the BGP
00:34:42has been teaching Delhi's officer Shahi
00:34:45that if there are elected MLAs,
00:34:47do not listen to them.
00:34:49If there are elected ministers,
00:34:51do not take their orders,
00:34:52do not attend their meetings,
00:34:53do not respond to their calls.
00:34:55Now the problem is that the BGP has become a government.
00:34:59The 48 MLAs of the BGP have come
00:35:03and the officers are not responding to their calls.
00:35:07Now, ultimately, the people who have been elected,
00:35:10they will get the work done by the officers.
00:35:12You have tried to give it a political colour.
00:35:15Most of the new MLAs
00:35:18do not have their numbers with the officials.
00:35:21There is no exchange of numbers between them.
00:35:24Because of this,
00:35:25there will be a lot of starting problems.
00:35:29For those who do not come in the future,
00:35:31Vijendra ji took a good step
00:35:33and wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary and made it public.
00:35:36Don't worry, Mr. Employer.
00:35:39You, the officials and the MPs
00:35:44want to work together.
00:35:46They will work. They are committed.
00:35:48Let them work.
00:35:50India Today's Amit Bhardwa joins me for the latest on that.
00:35:54Amit, tell me first about what Vijendra Gupta has written
00:35:58because he is, after all, a senior veteran leader
00:36:01of the Bharatiya Janata Party
00:36:02but also as much of the Delhi Assembly and now a speaker.
00:36:04And very interesting how the Aam Aadmi Party
00:36:07didn't waste an opportunity to target the BJP over this too.
00:36:15Amit, can you come?
00:36:16Had it been any other BJP leader or BJP legislator,
00:36:21the situation wouldn't have been this serious
00:36:24or maybe the Aam Aadmi Party
00:36:26would not have gotten the kind of opportunity
00:36:28it has got on the platter.
00:36:31It is the Delhi Assembly speaker
00:36:33who is writing to the Chief Secretary
00:36:35of the National Capital, Dharmendra,
00:36:37that the situation that has been brought to his notice
00:36:41is that there have been several instances
00:36:44where the letters, phones, messages by the legislators
00:36:48to the officials of the Delhi government
00:36:51are not being acknowledged.
00:36:53So, whether action is being taken or not
00:36:55is a separate question.
00:36:57The primary problem out here is that
00:37:00no acknowledgement of the letters, calls and messages
00:37:03that are being sent by the newly elected MLAs
00:37:05to the Delhi government officials
00:37:07are being acknowledged.
00:37:08So, that's what he has written in the letter
00:37:10to Chief Secretary Dharmendra.
00:37:11And in fact, he has also asked the Chief Secretary
00:37:14to ensure that the guidelines of the GAD,
00:37:18the General Administrative Department,
00:37:20are reiterated to the Delhi government officials
00:37:22and not only Delhi government officials
00:37:24but all the officials from Delhi Police,
00:37:27DDA, Delhi Government as well as other agencies in Delhi
00:37:32needs to be sensitized about
00:37:34as to how to acknowledge the letters and phone calls
00:37:36or messages of the MLAs.
00:37:39Now, this is a problem which Aam Aadmi Party legislators
00:37:42have been complaining about for nearly a decade now.
00:37:46Now, there is a change in power
00:37:48so it was expected that government officials
00:37:50will start responding to each and every phone call
00:37:54at least by the legislators of party in power
00:37:58that is the BJP.
00:37:59But having said that,
00:38:00if the letter is being sent by the Delhi Assembly Speaker itself,
00:38:04that itself underlines the seriousness of the matter.
00:38:08However, now you have the BJP MLAs
00:38:11also defending the entire situation.
00:38:13For instance, Ajay Mahabhar has issued a video statement
00:38:16saying that there could be a possibility
00:38:18that many of these MLAs are newly elected MLAs
00:38:21and the officers do not have their numbers
00:38:23and that is why there is a communication gap
00:38:26which will be streamlined after the letter.
00:38:28So, there could be a communication gap as well
00:38:29but does this mean there could be trouble coming in?
00:38:31For the bureaucracy in Delhi,
00:38:33could the Chief Secretary take action over this?
00:38:35Is this one or two MLAs who are not being responded to
00:38:38or is this a pattern by the bureaucrats in Delhi?
00:38:40Aam Aadmi Party happy to jump in here
00:38:42but let's listen in also now to what Vijendra Gupta has said.
00:38:45He is the one who wrote that letter.
00:38:49Vijendra Gupta, Chief Secretary, BJP
00:38:52This is not a matter of anger.
00:38:54The privileges and protocols of the elected representatives
00:38:58should be followed.
00:39:00If the officials do not pick up the phone
00:39:02or do not call back
00:39:04or do not reply to the message
00:39:06or if they are not cooperating in their work
00:39:13or if there is a problem in communicating with them
00:39:17they should be aware of the progress of their work
00:39:20and there should not be any unnecessary confusion.
00:39:25This should be taken care of.
00:39:48I have updates coming in from Nagpur.
00:39:50What exactly happened on 17th March evening
00:39:52as the investigation is intensifying.
00:39:54We have accessed some details
00:39:55and I am going to take you through immediately.
00:39:57More than 60 vehicles
00:39:59were vandalised and torched in Nagpur violence.
00:40:02Information reveals that the Panchnama
00:40:05that was made
00:40:07and the cops eventually investigating further
00:40:09the aftermath was for all to see.
00:40:11But as the Panchnama is being done by the government
00:40:13over 60 vehicles, you can see on your screens
00:40:15Remember, dozens of vehicles even in India today
00:40:18without much effort also could see
00:40:20that the window panes were broken
00:40:22vehicles that were burnt, completely damaged
00:40:25and these vehicles, remember, parked right inside the
00:40:28inside the premise of a house.
00:40:30That means how close could the mob get
00:40:33to residential complex.
00:40:35Information revealed in the Panchnama
00:40:38is that 36 cars
00:40:4022 two wheelers
00:40:42even a crane
00:40:44Remember, one of the cranes also was completely burnt down
00:40:47and a house
00:40:49has reported to have suffered heavy damage
00:40:51in the mob violence.
00:40:53District administration starting the process of
00:40:55giving compensation to all the people
00:40:57who have suffered losses by doing the Panchnama.
00:41:04Alright, my colleague Sumi is joining me right now
00:41:07from Nagpur for the latest.
00:41:09Remember that Sumi has been since day one
00:41:11been on the ground and she is tracking
00:41:13a little bit of what this riot
00:41:15this mob violence has been
00:41:17getting us eyewitness accounts as well.
00:41:19Sumi, over 60 vehicles
00:41:21in fact, some of these vehicles
00:41:23you also documented during your reporting
00:41:25What is the status now?
00:41:27What is being done by the investigators
00:41:29to ensure that a precedent is set
00:41:31of what exactly happened shouldn't be repeated
00:41:33Tell us about the damage, the aftermath and more.
00:41:35Yes, absolutely.
00:41:37Over 60 vehicles are now
00:41:39are being going through the process
00:41:41of the Panchnama and in fact
00:41:43there are many officials that also come to the spot
00:41:45right after the day of the violence
00:41:47and they had collected data
00:41:49of the people who have had
00:41:51the public property damages
00:41:53and in fact the calculation
00:41:55is in fact right now in process
00:41:57and within a few hours
00:41:59we will also get to know
00:42:01how much damage the Nagpur violence
00:42:03has left people with
00:42:05and this is something very crucial
00:42:07because the rioters completely
00:42:09had lost the sense of what they were doing
00:42:11because they were putting and setting everything
00:42:13ablaze which is why we had seen
00:42:15several two-wheelers as well as four-wheelers
00:42:17and a couple of JCBs on fire
00:42:19and in fact it was critical
00:42:21how all of it has happened
00:42:23because right now 84 people have been
00:42:25detained and in fact the number is likely to go
00:42:27high as well. 200 people have been
00:42:29identified already, more than 1000
00:42:31are going to be identified through various sensitive footages
00:42:33that were in and around the vicinity of the
00:42:35sensitive route and it is important to know that
00:42:37today is a very sensitive day because
00:42:39today is a Friday and we are already
00:42:41witnessing Ramzan's
00:42:43month and today there will
00:42:45be further relaxation. Yesterday a new
00:42:47order on the curfew relaxation had come where
00:42:49two areas, Nandan 1
00:42:51and Kapilnagar had
00:42:53already seen the curfew upliftment
00:42:55because these areas were not affected
00:42:57at all but as precautionary measures
00:42:59curfew restrictions were placed there
00:43:01however now there will be
00:43:03two-hour relaxation between 2pm
00:43:05to 4pm and people can open
00:43:07shops at the relatively
00:43:09non-restricted areas
00:43:11such as Imamwada and Panchpauli
00:43:13all these areas but Kotwali,
00:43:15Tehsil and the
00:43:17area around Chitnas Park which was the
00:43:19worst affected has the
00:43:21complete curfew even now
00:43:23and it's been four days
00:43:25of the violence but still
00:43:27the situation remains tense and there is
00:43:29a lot of aftermath that is also
00:43:31being witnessed here because all the businesses
00:43:33are now getting affected in the
00:43:35vicinity of the sensitive route and today
00:43:37it is going to be crucial because
00:43:39it is sensitive and
00:43:41the people will come out to offer namaz
00:43:43and it is going to be a
00:43:45very interesting day and there
00:43:47will be additional deployment of forces
00:43:49in and around the sensitive route as well
00:43:51Sumay keep
00:43:53tracking the latest on that
00:43:55The situation appears to be under control
00:43:57but remember an incident that shouldn't have
00:43:59happened. Imagine the innocent families, women
00:44:01and children huddled in their home when
00:44:03a mob outside in the evening is
00:44:05rampaging, vandalizing
00:44:07and literally got too close
00:44:09to the residents as well
00:44:11the arson violence, is it that easy
00:44:13and spontaneous to come in? What was the
00:44:15administration, the police doing at that
00:44:17time when it went on for over
00:44:19one hour at least? Why did it
00:44:21not anticipate?
00:44:23So it's been five days
00:44:25there is an uneasy calm now in
00:44:27Nagpur but it's a reminder of what happened
00:44:29I must tell you that prohibitory
00:44:31orders are still imposed in a few parts of
00:44:33Nagpur because it's also the day of the Friday prayers
00:44:35there will be likely a congregation
00:44:37in the afternoon and that's why
00:44:39there have been a strict curfew in some
00:44:41areas in Tehsil and
00:44:43Ganeshpet but there are localities
00:44:45where the curfew will be lifted as well
00:44:47relaxed between 2 and 4 pm
00:44:49specifically because that's also the namaz prayers time
00:44:51Meanwhile, politics has erupted
00:44:53after Chief Minister Fadnavis warned that
00:44:55no writer would be spared and even
00:44:57if they have to be dragged out of their grave, it will
00:44:59happen but the opposition has hit out
00:45:01saying Fadnavis is now saving face
00:45:03we all saw what happened on
00:45:05March 17th, it was a collapse of law and order
00:45:07of Intel sharing unit
00:45:09and that is why Fadnavis is giving out these statements
00:45:11but on the sidelines
00:45:13of it, Muslim clerics
00:45:15have come out to give a call
00:45:17to ban the film Chawah
00:45:19which stars Vicky Kaushal which documents
00:45:21known atrocities
00:45:23by Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb
00:45:25on Sambaji Maharaj
00:45:27and clerics have said that the film incites
00:45:29violence, makers of the movie
00:45:31should face trial now
00:45:49it's a shame
00:45:51that the intelligence unit of Maharashtra
00:45:53state government has collapsed
00:45:55under the leadership
00:45:57of Shri Devendra Fadnavis
00:45:59it's a shame
00:46:01that the intelligence unit of Maharashtra
00:46:03state government has collapsed
00:46:05under the leadership
00:46:07of Shri Devendra Fadnavis
00:46:09it's a shame
00:46:11that the intelligence unit of Maharashtra
00:46:13state government has collapsed
00:46:15under the leadership
00:46:17of Shri Devendra Fadnavis
00:46:19of course he will say these words
00:46:21or we will dig them out from their graves etc
00:46:23because those are his face savers
00:46:25but what is unfortunate is
00:46:27whatever information he continues to share
00:46:29is in bits and pieces
00:46:31why not have an independent inquiry
00:46:33and have a report submitted on the floor
00:46:35of the assembly so that it can
00:46:37so the total truth can come out
00:46:39this bits and pieces of sharing information
00:46:41is the reason why we saw
00:46:43the information of riots
00:46:45and we saw how violence
00:46:47took a serious turn and people lost their lives

00:50:03say, look closely on your screen, Hindu, Hindu Bhai Bhai.
00:50:07Hindus will bring BJP to power in 2026 in Bengal.
00:50:11Remember, it's a high stake election
00:50:12going to be for the BJP to make inroads,
00:50:14for the TMC survival, and for the Congress at stake too.
00:50:18But the Bengal police, meanwhile,
00:50:20looking at all of this unfolding,
00:50:21has asked the IPL team KKR to reschedule
00:50:25or at least shift the match with LSG,
00:50:27scheduled on 6th April, on the day of the Ram Navmi occasion,
00:50:30possibly because there could be
00:50:32then a death of the deployment of the police and more.
00:50:38I'm very sure that all stakeholders
00:50:41will act with a sense of responsibility
00:50:43and Ram Navmi will pass on
00:50:45in a very, very peaceful and harmonious manner.
00:50:47The matches have already been held here
00:50:49and the admin is already here.
00:50:51And it will remain as it is.
00:50:53It will be better than that.
00:50:54And since the inauguration is taking place here,
00:50:57an extra admin has been appointed for that.
00:50:59We have requested to reschedule the match.
00:51:01We haven't got any response from them.
00:51:32Or they are reshifting it from one place to another.
00:51:35We haven't received a reply from them either.
00:52:01The surcharge will be added to the existing electricity bills
00:52:04for financial year 2025-2026.
00:52:06So what does this mean? Let me put it in perspective.
00:52:08If a house, for example, uses 250 units of electricity per month,
00:52:12pays over Rs 2,200 approximately from 1st April,
00:52:16the same family will now have to pay about Rs 2,300 here on.
00:52:21But this comes after there's already a cash-strapped state
00:52:24that Karnataka is right now,
00:52:27is already mulling on how to continue with the welfare schemes,
00:52:30the guarantees it promised before elections.
00:52:33But the Netas in Karnataka are set to get a 100% pay hike of their salaries.
00:52:39Now the BJP is charging at the Siddharamayya government,
00:52:41saying on one side you're burdening the people
00:52:43and then you also want the pay hike for the MLAs.
00:52:49It's good, right?
00:52:50So if the governor office has agreed,
00:52:53that's what you meant, right?
00:52:54Raj Bhawan agreed, right?
00:52:56So it's good, right?
00:52:57The bill also is presented in Assam.
00:52:59So it'll get passed.
00:53:00It's necessary, sir.
00:53:03Why do you feel it's not necessary?
00:53:06You mean salary is not necessary?
00:53:08For everybody, sir.
00:53:09The committee is there, which has recommended.
00:53:12You take the example of Singapore.
00:53:14The Prime Minister of Singapore,
00:53:17the Ministers of Singapore, the MPs of Singapore
00:53:20are the highest paid in the world.
00:53:22Do you know why?
00:53:24That makes them very independent.
00:53:28Non-corrupt.
00:53:31You have to learn some things.
00:53:33Do we compare our salaries to Singapore's one?
00:53:35We cannot.
00:53:36But still, at least this one has to be paid for every month.
00:53:40The practice of increasing the salary
00:53:43of public representatives by public representatives themselves
00:53:47is a very wrong method.
00:53:49Nowhere in the world do people increase their own salary.
00:53:53It is always done by someone else,
00:53:55either the superiors or there is a committee.
00:53:58In case of MLAs or MPs,
00:54:00there is a practice of increasing the salary by themselves,
00:54:04which is very, very wrong.
00:54:05As it is, people look at politicians
00:54:08in a very, very cynical way.
00:54:10By doing these kind of things, people tend to laugh at us.
00:54:16See, this all in a democracy, it is not correct.
00:54:22It should not happen to anybody.
00:54:24See, this all is a personal thing.
00:54:26This is making political issues is not correct.
00:54:29This should not be trapped by anybody in this house.
00:54:33Central government has failed to control the hike of the price
00:54:38of what the commodity is using by the common people.
00:54:41Let the central government curb the hike of the commodities
00:54:46what the common people are using.
00:54:48It is a routine process.
00:54:50The metro or KSRTC, whatever it is there,
00:54:54even electricity also, it was spending since long time.
00:54:58So it is enhanced as per the routine work.
00:55:01There is nothing wrong in that.
00:55:02And we are giving amenities to the people.
00:55:04Congress government is going to give benefit to the people.
00:55:09So how much do the Karnataka leaders earn officially?
00:55:12We have the details coming in.
00:55:14This is per month salary from official notifications.
00:55:17The chief minister of the state earlier was earning
00:55:21about 75,000 rupees.
00:55:23After what appears to be a 100% proposed pay hike,
00:55:27they're going to get about 1,50,000 rupees per month.
00:55:31Now this is for the chief minister.
00:55:32What are the ministers getting?
00:55:34Earlier we are told it was about 60,000 rupees
00:55:37and now it's about going to be 1,25,000 rupees.
00:55:41Now why is it going to be already?
00:55:43Because even though it's a proposal,
00:55:45we're pretty sure that no MLA is going to be negating it
00:55:48whether from opposition or the ruling party.
00:55:50The chairman and the speaker in the assembly earlier
00:55:53were being paid about 75,000 rupees per month.
00:55:56It's going to be about 1,25,000 rupees
00:55:59after the proposed pay hike.
00:56:01Deputy chairperson, deputy speaker, 60,000 rupees earlier,
00:56:04it's going to be about 80,000 rupees.
00:56:06So there are different increase depending on the position.
00:56:09Leader of opposition would be earlier
00:56:11getting about 60,000 rupees, 80,000 now.
00:56:15The chief whip also an important position,
00:56:1850,000 earlier is what they were getting.
00:56:20It's going to be about 70,000 rupees approximately.
00:56:24Then comes in the most important,
00:56:26which is if you're an MLA, you're an MLC.
00:56:29Earlier reportedly it was about 40,000 rupees.
00:56:32It's going to go up to about 75,000 rupees.
00:56:36Now you may debate if this is salary that they deserve,
00:56:40but again it comes for a state, remember,
00:56:42that's facing a massive cash crunch right now
00:56:45for the basic welfare schemes
00:56:46that are not possible to be implemented right now.
00:56:49So we'll be tracking that and more.
00:56:50Here's what's happening meanwhile
00:56:52in Karnataka apart from this.
00:56:54Now remember Karnataka minister K.N. Rajanna
00:56:57has made an explosive charge in the assembly
00:57:00and this is concerning.
00:57:01He says 48 politicians including central leaders
00:57:04have become victims of honey trap.
00:57:06He's claiming there's been a political motive
00:57:08behind these attempts.
00:57:09The controversy emerged after the current power struggles
00:57:12that are on, but who are these politicians?
00:57:15Who's honey trapping them and why?
00:57:23What started as whispers of a Karnataka minister
00:57:25being honey trapped has now spiraled
00:57:27into a full-blown scandal.
00:57:31State cooperative minister K.N. Rajanna
00:57:33claimed in the assembly that at least 48 people
00:57:36including national figures had been caught in honey traps
00:57:40rocking Karnataka politics.

01:14:06is under the scan of the Indian government
01:14:08The IT ministry has expressed concerns
01:14:10with the use of the provocative language
01:14:12that shockingly came in from the
01:14:14Artificial Intelligence chatbot
01:14:16on the social media site X
01:14:18It's grabbed the attention of the Indian users
01:14:20and remember it's supposed to be
01:14:22with fact checking that's often done
01:14:24but the unfiltered language
01:14:26slangs even have raised concerns
01:14:28Here's a report
01:14:32AI with an attitude
01:14:34and a sharp and filthy tongue
01:14:36that is what the social media
01:14:38is saying to GROK
01:14:40the immensely popular AI chatbot
01:14:42of X
01:14:46The Indian government is now in talks
01:14:48with Elon Musk owned X
01:14:50formally twitter over GROK
01:14:52the AI chatbot using Hindi
01:14:54slangs and giving unfiltered
01:14:56and abusive responses
01:14:58to queries which expletives
01:15:00stayed in themselves
01:15:04It all started when a user
01:15:06casually asked GROK for recommendations
01:15:08about 10 best mutuals
01:15:10but the AI did not respond fast
01:15:12then the impatient user
01:15:14hurled some expletives
01:15:18Replying to him
01:15:20GROK just roasted the user
01:15:22in pure desi style with
01:15:24unexpected swear words
01:15:26This conversation

01:15:48and an alternative to AI models
01:15:50like ChatGPT and Google's
01:15:52Gemini
01:15:54It was developed
01:15:56in 2023 by XAI
01:15:58an AI company of
