Shear line, easterlies, ‘amihan’ to bring cloudy skies, scattered rains across the Philippines

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, March 21 said cloudy skies and scattered rains will continue to affect various parts of the country due to the combined effects of the shear line, easterlies, and the northeast monsoon. 00:00We still haven't monitored any typhoons or low-pressure areas inside and outside of our Philippine Area of Responsibility.

00:12But now, we have three weather systems that are affecting our country.

00:17First is the North East Monsoon or the cold wind that continues to blow here in Meluson.

00:24Second is the Easter Leaves or the hot and misty wind coming from the Pacific Ocean that is blowing here in Mindanao.

00:33And just like the North East Monsoon which is the cold wind and then the Easter Leaves,

00:38the hot and misty wind, the collision of these two results in what we call a shear line.

00:45And this is also our third weather system that is affecting here in Kabisayan.

00:53For our current weather, we are still hoping that this shear line will bring heavy rains here in Catanduanes, Masbate, Albay, and Sorsogon.

01:05Meanwhile, the North East Monsoon will bring heavy rains here in Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and here in the dense Bicol Region.

01:20For Metro Manila, the rest of Meluson, we are still hoping that it will bring heavy rains until the isolated light rains are over.

01:29Temperature for Metro Manila is 24 to 32 degrees Celsius.

01:33Lawag is 23 to 31 degrees Celsius.

01:36For Togigaraw, we are hoping for 22 to 29 degrees Celsius.

01:40Baguio is 14 to 24 degrees Celsius.

01:43Tagaytay is 21 to 30 degrees Celsius.

01:47And Legazpi is 24 to 29 degrees Celsius.

01:52For Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, as you can see, we are expecting heavy rains.

01:59For Visayas and Dinagat Islands, we are expecting a shear line.

02:06Meanwhile, for Davao Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Sulu, Tawitawi, Sarangani, and Palawan, we are also expecting heavy rains.

02:22Aguat is 26 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:28Iloilo is 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

02:31Fort Tocloban is 24 to 30 degrees Celsius.

02:34Cebu is 25 to 30 degrees Celsius.

02:37Zamboanga is 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:40Cagayan de Oro is 25 to 31 degrees Celsius.

02:43And Davao is 25 to 32 degrees Celsius.

02:47We have released a weather advisory.

02:50We are expecting moderate to heavy rains or 50 to 100 millimeters of rain.

02:55We are also expecting a shear line for Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran, Masbate, Leyte, and Southern Leyte.

03:05That is why we are warning our countrymen for the possibility of flash floods and landslides.

03:14For tomorrow, the shear line will weaken and we are expecting 50 to 100 millimeters of rain here in Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.

03:29For our heat index, if we notice, there is no danger that was reported yesterday.

03:35This is due to the weather system that is affecting our country and is also bringing floods.

03:41Here in Metro Manila, we have a 31 to 32 degrees Celsius heat index.

03:47And our highest is 41 degrees Celsius here in Mecotobato City, Maguindanao.

03:55For our forecast for today's heat index here in Metro Manila, we are expecting 33 to 34 degrees Celsius.

04:02And our highest possible is 41 degrees Celsius here in Mecotobato City, Maguindanao.

04:12We still have a high gale warning of floods here in the Northeast Monsoon

04:17in the northern and eastern coasts of Catanduanes, eastern coasts of Albay, eastern coasts of Sorsogon,

04:23northern and eastern coasts of Northern Samar, and eastern coasts of Eastern Samar.

04:28That is why we are warning our countrymen, especially those who own small sea vehicles,

04:34that it is dangerous to go out here in the coastal waters that we have listed.
