00:00First of all, apologies for the barely existent smokey ass voice. There's been something going around
00:06It's beat my ass for the past week. I barely have a voice anymore
00:11So I'm gonna try to speed run this review which brings me to the sponsor of this video
00:14This video is brought to you by time efficiency
00:18So let's go
00:21If
00:24I talk like this
00:25It doesn't sound so bad Nova Kane directed by Dan Burke and Robert Olsen
00:30It stars Jack Quaid who plays an unassuming nobody very Jack Quaid character
00:34Just started a romance with one of his co-workers
00:37Then these guys robbed the bank take her hostage and now he's Jack Quaid the one-man army going to get his girl back
00:44I'll tell you a thing all guys know and all will admit to
00:48We think about that being the badass one-man army to get the girl you love back that and being stranded on an island oddly
00:55Those are the fantasies and he gets to do it thing is he suffers from a condition called SIPA in which he doesn't feel pain
01:02I know what you're thinking the condition from season 3 episode 14 of house. Yes the same fact
01:07it really feels like someone watched that episode of house and was like
01:11Got an idea for an action movie and the way the movie plays it up
01:14It's entertaining as hell. Not only is the condition used for the sake of humor in action sequences
01:19But it never breaches into slapstick. It never feels like Three Stooges because after watching this I'm like, oh the Three Stooges are just
01:26Three guys with SIPA I guess it could be in a way
01:30Anyway him being able to take these hits as part of the entertainment part of the humor, but it also
01:35Organically works for the character to be able to let him be the action hero
01:42He wants to be for the woman. He loves most normal people would have that moment of going
01:47Maybe I should take this one to the cops. Why fear of pain?
01:50It's a powerful motivator or a stonewall, but not this guy. He doesn't feel pain. So he doesn't have that
01:57It just it works
01:58There are little things little edits will call them nitpicks like someone slaps a gun out of someone's hand and it looked like the gun
02:05Went into a building down the hall and bank to the right and I was like, how'd it get there?
02:11Yeah, whatever. There is a point where the hits he's taking doesn't feel natural. He's walking into this booby-trapped house. It was like
02:19Why is it booby-trapped?
02:23Why is it booby-trapped I said to myself in a manly voice that definitely didn't crack
02:28That's when it didn't feel organic to me
02:30It felt like the movie broke the fourth wall and was just having him step on traps and take arrows to it
02:36To the knee is that meme dead not anymore it happened in here
02:40It felt like the movie was making him take these hits because it knew he had
02:44SIPA and it knew that that's what people were paying to see whereas before all the hits he'd been taking felt organic
02:51There were a byproduct of him being in a fight to get his girl back and the movie's not too long
02:56It's just a little longer than it feels it should be
02:58It's like the movie was wrapping up and I was like, oh it's wrapping up pretty abruptly up. Nope. There's more movie
03:03All right, here's second ending and second ending happens and I was like somewhere between second ending and first ending
03:10There's that Goldilocks zone where it probably would have been a perfect time to wrap it up
03:13but in the end the movie Novocaine had an assignment and understood the assignment have Jack Quaid be a Jack Quaid character because it's kind
03:20Of what he is and everything how to make this Jack Quaid character everyday man into a one-man-action
03:26Hero who's out to get his girlfriend back from a bunch of people who took her hostage
03:30We'll give him SIPA. He has a condition where he feels no pain. Let's have fun with that and the movie does it's entertaining
03:36It's a good time
03:37No NyQuil, DayQuil or copious amounts of Hall's medicine to drown yourself with though
03:43I'm going to drown myself in those now worth risking those movie theater dipshits
03:47You know the ones sitting behind you who are gonna talk the entire movie the one sitting in front of you is gonna be on
03:52His phone. Well, yeah, kind of it was fun. All right, so Novocaine. Have you seen it?
03:56What did you think about it? Whatever you thought comment below?
