A look around John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery, Broseley.

00:00Good morning and welcome to John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery.

00:04I'm Mrs Beard and I'm the head teacher here at the nursery and this is...

00:08I'm Lisa McGowan, I'm nursery manager.

00:11We're very proud of being situated in Broseley and having beautiful surroundings for our school.

00:16As you can see the sun is shining.

00:19We have lots of greenhouses and we have ponds and we do lots of outdoor learning.

00:23I think Mrs McGowan's going to tell you a little bit about more of what they do in the nursery.

00:27So in nursery we are very much about the outdoors.

00:31We enjoy forest school sessions found on the woodland area at the bottom of the school field

00:37which is a beautiful setting for our children.

00:39It's a safe environment but allowing them to manage their risk and prepare them for school.

00:44All sorts of learning goes on down there as well as lots and lots of fun.

00:49We take this learning forward across the rest of the school with outdoor learning going on with our greenhouses

00:54and our in-school allotments where they grow produce that we actually use in school in the summer

01:00which is really lovely so the children can see how you grow things and then you use them for food.

01:05We also have a kiln at John Wilkinson Primary School celebrating the fact that we're very near to Jackfield

01:12and we do lots of pottery work which hopefully you'll have seen on this video.

01:16The children are very very proud of their pottery work and it's always exciting on the days that we open the kiln door

01:22to make sure that they haven't got cracked.

01:24John Wilkinson Primary School and Nursery became a member of the 3 to 18 Trust on the 1st of February this year

01:30and we're very excited about the opportunities that that's offering our school, the children and the local community.

01:35And we're very very proud to be part of John Wilkinson Primary School
