00:00Hey Us Weekly, we are here with Kalen Bristow, and this girl, you have been on so many shows!
00:07You think so?
00:08Yeah, just a few, just a few.
00:10I don't feel like that, I'm like, it's been a minute for me.
00:13Well, I mean, still, the experience of being on Dancing with the Stars, The Bachelor,
00:17like, you're having your own podcast, like, you, I mean, you're the queen of this.
00:22Well, thank you for saying that, um, I actually don't feel like I am,
00:26I was just saying I have imposter syndrome being here, because I'm like-
00:28I think we all do.
00:29That's true, you know what, and I saw somebody had an interview,
00:33I can't believe I'm blanking on her name, I follow her and I love her,
00:35but she was talking about how she doesn't get imposter syndrome,
00:38and I want to channel her energy, because she was like, I deserve to be here.
00:43I, like, worked really hard to get to where I am, and I was like, that's boss energy,
00:47I'm like, I'm insecure!
00:50Why am I here?
00:51You know what, I think we all go through that in our lives, and then there's ups and downs,
00:55but I think that if we surround ourselves with people who empower us,
00:58and listen to people like you were talking about-
01:00Yeah.
01:01Yeah.
01:01Honestly, one of my best friends in the world is Carly Pierce,
01:04who's obviously here tonight, and she's the one who talks me into coming to these things,
01:08like, I'm meeting her in her dressing room after to have some wine,
01:10because she was like-
01:11Can I come?
01:12Yeah, absolutely, everybody can come.
01:14She's gonna be like, Caitlin, who did you invite?
01:15I'm like, everyone!
01:16Tell her Us Weekly, she just did an interview.
01:18I also, I also invited Reba.
01:21Oh, well, I'm definitely coming then!
01:23You'll fit right in, you look southern.
01:26Yeah, Reba and I can bond over Oklahoma.
01:28There you go.
01:29So, okay, tell us about, what is your favorite memory that you have made being just here tonight?
01:34I don't know if you've ever been to the Opry before, but-
01:36I have.
01:36I actually got to perform on the stage for the Dancing with the Stars tour, and when I-
01:41That's cool!
01:42I blacked out.
01:43I stepped on the stage, and I was like, I'm on the Opry stage, this is iconic.
01:48So yes, I've had very special memories here.
01:50I also take my family when they come into town to do tours of the Opry.
01:53Obviously, Carly, my good friend, is a member,
01:56and I just feel absolutely honored to even be part of this tonight.
02:00Oh, well, I think we all feel honored that you're here as well.
02:03You live here.
02:04You deserve to be here.
02:05You know what? So do you.
02:06Thank you!
02:07Yes!
02:07We all do.
02:08We all do.
02:09So tell us about your podcast, like, what's next for you?
02:12Oh my gosh, I just had Russell Dickerson on, obviously a big country music artist.
02:16He's so funny, isn't he?
02:17Hilarious.
02:18I love to have people on who I can just, you know,
02:2045 minutes of actually just having a conversation with someone these days.
02:24Not being on your phone feels very empowering,
02:27but I just love to have honest conversation with anyone from,
02:31you know, reality TV stars to country singers to thought leaders.
02:34I've had Jay Shetty on.
02:35I had Mel Robbins give me a lecture on, like, Let Them.
02:39So it's really, I'm very lucky to have the job I have because I feel like I get free therapy.
02:45That's so true.
02:46You get to ask them questions on your mind, and then they give you an answer.
02:49Exactly.
02:50And they shoot it to me straight, and I like that.
02:52Yeah.
02:52Sometimes we drink wine.
02:53It's great.
02:54Yeah.
02:55Can I come on your podcast?
02:56Yes, I have my own wine label called Spade and Sparrows.
02:59I'll send you a bottle.
03:00Oh, perfect.
03:01It's great.
03:02Okay, so you say you have imposter syndrome,
03:04but you're doing all these amazing things that people,
03:07you know, they've worked their whole lives to get to that point.
03:10You know, what is one moment where you're,
03:12you looked back and you're like, wow, I did that.
03:14Like, how did you get there?
03:16Like, what is that?
03:17Honestly, it probably is winning Dancing with the Stars
03:20because I still have injuries from that.
03:23And that was like three years ago now.
03:24And my ribs are like still cracked.
03:26And I still like get out of bed.
03:27Like, but it was worth it.
03:28I got the mirror ball.
03:29But I honestly worked so hard to get there.
03:32It was like emotionally, physically, spiritually exhausting.
03:37And it's way more work than people think it is.
03:40It's eight hours a day in a studio.
03:42It's a grind and it's really hard on the body.
03:44But I grew up wanting to be a dancer.
03:46And I wasn't good enough.
03:48And at 25, I had to quit.
03:49And I was like so lost in life.
03:52I didn't have a job.
03:52I didn't have education.
03:54I didn't have anything.
03:54And I tried to chase a boy.
03:56And I was like, I have nothing.
03:57So to come full circle and believe in myself,
04:00like 10 years later as a dancer and win the mirror ball
04:02and work so hard to get there,
04:03it was really like a beautiful, full circle,
04:06proud moment for me that I didn't have imposter syndrome.
04:08I was like, I really deserve that.
04:10See, and we have to channel that, Caitlin, more often.
04:13But I mean, you walk in the car with Reba McIntyre
04:16and Blake Shelton and all of you.
04:18And I'm just like, what do I do with my hands?
04:22It's so cool.
04:23But you're in a completely different area than them.
04:25You don't have to compare yourself to them.
04:27And I'm not.
04:28I'm just honored to be in their presence, truly.
04:30I really am.
04:31I think we all are.
