00:00Kind of set a baseline that you're trying to hit.
00:07And for interior guys, it's a 1-7-1-10 time that you're hunting, as well as a 4-8-9-40.
00:18So this is a good opportunity to fill some holes in some of these draft profiles.
00:23Only had four of these guys actually at the Combine in Indianapolis from this D-line group,
00:28so we'll fill this out.
00:304-9-7, unofficial time for Isaiah Bagna on his first run through.
00:35This guy who played out on the edge, Coach Kalani Sitake.
00:43Forty-two pressures this year.
00:46Didn't quite get home as much.
00:49Certainly had that conversation when it comes to Shamar Stewart at Texas A&M.
00:52You get a look at Ricky Barber, one of the interior guys here, Deej.
00:56Just a smooth run at 296 pounds.
01:03Yeah, it did look a little bit faster than that number.
01:13Shorter stride at just over 6'1".
01:16Some of it you're looking at the times, obviously, but then also just kind of how they get out
01:20and how they move around.
01:21Yeah, and obviously we're not getting a chance to see the 10 splits here, but that is almost
01:26more important for these guys.
01:34This is 4 here, right?
01:35This is Carroll.
01:36Yes, it is.
01:37DeBraylon Carroll.
01:38DeBraylon Carroll from Texas Tech.
01:41Stocky.
01:42I will go Stocky at 5'10", 6", so 5'10", 3 quarters, 291 pounds.
01:50He's like the Willie Lampkin of defensive linemen.
01:53There you go.
01:55There's a guy that Coach Joey McGuire said, yeah, he's undersized, but, man, he produces
02:03and played a lot of football there in Lubbock.
02:065'2", 6", for DeBraylon Carroll.
02:12Started his career at Rice and then ended up playing in the Big 12.
02:20All right, let's see where we end up next here as we get set for Jeff Clark, another
02:31sub-six footer on the defensive front, but had a chance to talk to Coach Kenny Dillingham,
02:36building something special there in Tempe, and Clark has certainly been a part of it.
02:43Louisville transfer.
02:49Arizona State was his third stop, began his career at Georgia State, had some big-time
02:54sack production.
02:55Let's see what Jeff Clark put up here, 5'2", another 5'2".
03:04We're going to skip to D-linemen number seven, no run for Shane Cokes out of Colorado, so
03:13Keith Cooper.
03:16Jump up at 6'3", and 280 pounds.
03:19Not a lot of sacks for Houston this year.
03:23Yeah.
03:24He had three and a half, led the team.
03:26Yeah, came with Coach Willie Fritz from Tulane, is a guy that they really appreciated there
03:31at Houston.
03:32He got out all right there.
03:33It's a good 10.
03:34Let's see how he finishes up with the 40, but looked like a good 10, 280 pounds.
03:43508 is the final time there for Cooper.
03:48I've got a feeling we're going to see Houston really start to ascend, if you look at Coach
03:56Fritz's background, right from what he brought to Tulane and even beforehand.
04:02He's won a lot of ballgames.
04:03Built some good programs, yep.
04:04We've got Javier, oh, yeah, Javier Derret from Kansas.
04:12Boy, every other guy is a transfer.
04:17It's kind of the way college football is right now.
04:19North Dakota State won a couple of national championships there.
04:22Sure did, twice over.
04:232019 and 2021.
04:24Boy, 20, he's a pre-COVID player here at 2019.
04:29525 is the unofficial 40 on the first run for Javier Derret, who played in 11 games
04:36this year for the Jayhawks.
04:39Now we welcome Daylon Dotson.
04:46This is school number three, right, for him?
04:49Or school number two?
04:50Where's school number two?
04:51Tennessee Martin?
04:52Yeah, UT Martin was a big-time player at UT Martin, finalist for the Defensive Player
04:58of the Year award on that level of college football.
05:01Got a little hitch.
05:05He's got 20, 20 and a half sacks in his career.
05:09So he knows how to finish.
05:15Let's see what we've got here.
05:16513 is UCF transfers leadership to Scott Frost, back in the saddle once again there in Orlando.
05:25He hired my former head coach, or my former teammate, actually, at App State, who was
05:29just the head coach most recently at App State.
05:32Sean Clark is the offensive line coach there at UCF.
05:34That's a great hire.
05:35It's a great, fantastic hire.
05:39This is an interesting one here.
05:41Obi Ezeigbo, and we talked about Collin Oliver from Oklahoma State.
05:49I'm curious to see if we'll get a chance to watch run, but Oliver got hurt and Ezeigbo
05:54transferred in from D2 Gannon and ended up having to jump into some major reps, maybe
06:01a little bit before he was ready, just to account for the injury to Oliver, you know,
06:05playing 65, 70 reps a game.
06:07Do we still have Bucky down there?
06:08Yeah, I'm sitting right here, guys.
06:10I was wondering if Bucky could hear us, because Gannon, Buck, Gannon, I mean, I've rarely
06:15to not hear of a school, because we've scouted all over the country and been everywhere.
06:19I had never heard of Gannon until I read that.
06:21I guarantee Bucky knows Gannon.
06:22What do you got?
06:23Yeah, no.
06:24I don't have anything on Gannon.
06:25Oh, come on.
06:26I don't have anything.
06:27I know a bunch of schools.
06:28I've never heard of any.
06:29Golden Knights, in case you were wondering.
06:31The Gannon Golden Knights.
06:32It kind of rolls off the tongue, to be honest.
06:33I mean, I like the alliteration, but wow, Gannon, Golden.
06:36You want to take a guess on the state for Gannon, Buck?
06:39Go ahead.
06:40Let's go with somewhere in southeast Oklahoma, maybe?
06:43That's a good guess.
06:44Pennsylvania.
06:45Right?
06:46Didn't I say Pennsylvania?
06:47Yeah, you did say Pennsylvania.
06:48No.
06:49Okay.
06:50So, actually, it wasn't close.
06:51It was a terrible guess.
06:52Yeah.
06:53Conforts, PSAC.
06:59That stepped up in competition, did OB Ziegbo, there in Stillwater this year, and stepped
07:08into a really leading role in that defense, trying to replace Oliver, who had garnered
07:13so much attention around that program, building that defense up around him, and so Ziegbo
07:17jumped into that role, and 4-8-8 right there.
07:21Yeah, and again, you're seeing edge guys mixed in with DTs, so you're going to see a variance
07:27here on the times.
07:32But that is our leader in the clubhouse, as it stands right now, although we're going
07:36to get a second run from these guys if they choose to do so.
07:40Van Fillinger from Utah, must be another one off the edge here, 247 pounds, six sacks this
07:49year for the Utes.
07:56Van Fillinger, a little bit under 33-inch arms, 247 pounds, 4-9-5.
08:09We're waiting for somebody to kind of go get it here.
08:12I think we're going to get something.
08:15Caleb Fox, TCU, guys played a ton of ball.
08:20Sunny Dykes, another compact, DT, Stephen F. Austin, 5-3-8 for Caleb Fox, followed his
08:41defensive line coach, Marcus McFarlane, from Stephen F. Austin to TCU.
08:49They've played the last 25 games the last two years there at TCU.
08:56Tomathan Good, second here.
08:58Again, six footer, he got a little stumble in there.
09:04328 pounds, didn't see a lot of action there at Houston.
09:12See how he ran.
09:135-5-0.
09:14There we go.
09:15No, 5-5-0.
09:175-5-0.
09:18Yeah, you got me when you said 5-0.
09:19I was like, jeez.
09:20Pretty dang good for a 3-30.
09:215-5-0.
09:22All right.
09:23Say hello to the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year, B.J.
09:34Green, the second.
09:41Let's see what B.J. has for us again here.
09:48Played for Kenny Dillingham in 2023 there at Arizona State before moving on to Colorado.
09:54He's up there.
09:57He's moving.
09:58He's moving.
09:59Oh, yeah.
10:00That's going to be our time right here.
10:01I feel like that's our leader in the clubhouse right there.
10:02Let's go.
10:03What do you got for us, B.J. Green?
10:05Give me a good time.
10:08Now we're talking.
10:094-7-0.
10:10Yeah, see?
10:11Here we go.
10:12I knew somebody was going to go ahead and take this thing.
10:13B.J. Green, that a boy.
10:14All right.
10:15He's got the torch right now.
10:16Let's see if he ends up having to pass it on or not.
10:17There's a look at D.J. in a former life sitting there in the bleachers.
10:18We didn't have laptops when Bucky and I were sitting at these pro days.
10:19I can tell you that much.
10:20We had a clipboard and an APT sheet, Buck.
10:21And we were sitting there in the bleachers.
10:22We had a clipboard and an APT sheet, Buck.
10:23And we were sitting there in the bleachers.
10:24We had a clipboard and an APT sheet, Buck.
10:25And we were sitting there in the bleachers.
10:27And then having to go back to the hotel and manually insert them.
10:28And then having to go back to the hotel and manually insert them.
10:29That's right.
10:30Would you send those reports back to the post office?
10:31Yeah.
10:32Oh, no, man.
10:33It was brutal.
10:345-1-5 for T.J. Jackson.
10:35The first team All-Big-12 selection out of West Virginia this year.
10:365-1-5 for T.J. Jackson.

10:57That's right.
10:58Another from Texas Tech here.
10:59Again, the body types.
11:00You're starting to see certain conferences are starting to change.
11:01Again, the body types.
11:02Yeah.

16:00We're getting there.
16:01We're getting there.
16:02We're getting there.
16:03We're getting there.
16:04We're getting there.
16:05We're getting there.
16:06We're getting there.
16:07We're getting there.
16:08We're getting there.
16:09We're getting there.
16:10We're getting there.
16:11We're getting there.
16:12We're getting there.
16:13We're getting there.
16:14We're getting there.
16:15We're getting there.
16:16We're getting there.
16:17We're getting there.
16:18We're getting there.
16:19We're getting there.
16:20We're getting there.
16:21We're getting there.
16:22We're getting there.
16:23We're getting there.
16:24We're getting there.
16:25We're getting there.
16:26We're getting there.
16:27We're getting there.
16:28We're getting there.
16:29We're getting there.
16:30We're getting there.
16:31We're getting there.
16:32We're getting there.
16:33We're getting there.
16:34We're getting there.
16:35We're getting there.
16:36We're getting there.
16:37We're getting there.
16:38We're getting there.
16:39We're getting there.
16:40We're getting there.
16:41Yeah, and he's did it with Ika, right, previously.
16:44Went from LSU to Baylor because of that relationship.
16:47So, yeah, you see that with coaches moving, not just players,
16:50that can establish relationships at previous spots,
16:54can lend to new opportunities for kids.
17:04Big man moving.
17:05Yeah, you're going to ask him to sit there and anchor against doubles
17:08and hang in there against the run.
17:15Definitely in that nose tackle role there at Baylor.
17:19Yeah, you're not looking to rush the passer there.
17:22We're looking to just sit in there, hang in there, handle those doubles,
17:26let somebody else go run and make the play.
17:29Yeah, coach just said that he's a real worker, you know,
17:32and kind of built up his name through the smaller schools that I mentioned
17:37and then got a chance to go put that skill set on display
17:42in Waco in the Big 12.
17:45All right, let's see what we got here from Chidozie Wonqua.
17:53Played for Coach Prime this year.
17:55He was going to be in the house over the course of the next two days.
17:59Chidozie Owuzie was a Colorado kid too, right?
18:03That does sound familiar.
18:05It does.
18:065-6-0 for Wonqua.
18:10Yeah, he was at Colorado as well.
18:12Chidozie.
18:15Yeah, but we're in the same ballpark.
18:17Yeah, we're very similar.
18:30Yeah, Tyron Bradley from West Virginia here.
18:34He's striding it out a little bit here.
18:41Depending on what this time is, we might need to make our own number
18:44and slap that on there.
18:46Might have earned it.
18:53It looked good.
18:54It looked like a good time.
18:55I agree with you.
18:56Literally has no number on his shirt.
18:59Okay, we're going to take that back.
19:02Was that O'Toole?
19:03That was O'Toole from Utah, actually.
19:05We didn't get a time though, huh?
19:074-7-0.
19:08Yeah, he looked like he was moving.
19:10So that's our high water mark right now.
19:13We've got two 4-7-0s, BJ Green and Conor O'Toole.
19:18Now, Osafa Mensah, interesting guy.
19:22Grew up in the Fort Worth area.
19:26Began his career at Notre Dame.
19:31Had a bachelor's degree and a master's by the time he got to TCU,
19:35but wanted to play for his hometown school.
19:37So he went home, said he got real emotional.
19:39Ran out of that tunnel for the first time there in Fort Worth
19:41and started every game for Coach Sonny Dyches this year.
19:47Here's Eric Phillips from Cincinnati.
19:57He's running pretty good too.
19:59Yeah.
20:00Smooth run.
20:03You know, another guy's got some ability there.
20:05He's a rusher DJ and, you know, another guy who can get to the QB,
20:10but you like to see him finish just a little bit more.
20:134-8-1 is the time there for Phillips.
20:17I feel like we have that conversation a lot, you know,
20:20whether it's in these settings or just talking about players on path of the draft.
20:23And, you know, boy, you see the incredible athleticism and the measurables.
20:27I feel like this year's class, Shamar Stewart, is kind of the poster child for that.
20:31What are some of the conversation points that go into that?
20:34Well, there's still value in disruption versus production.
20:37You know, obviously you'd like guys to be able to finish and put sacks on the board.
20:40But when you're constantly winning your one-on-one battle,
20:43you're creating havoc in the backfield.
20:46You know, teams have different metrics now that we didn't have back then.
20:50We didn't have pressure percentage and win percentage and all those things.
20:53So you can project forward also in the college game with so many quick hitters,
20:57tunnel screens, bubble screens.
20:59The ball's out so fast that it's hard to accumulate big sack numbers in some of these conferences.
21:04That's right. That's good context to have as you see some of these guys run
21:09and showcase their athleticism, and you go back and you look at the production
21:13over the course of their career or in any given season,
21:16and maybe it doesn't quite match up with what you would expect,
21:19but there's a lot of variables that go in there.
21:21Good time for Garmin Randolph.
21:23Goes 4.78 unofficial there.
21:25Yeah, over 6'6".
21:27Yeah, as an edge rusher, 265 pounds.
21:30I think that's the most impressive.
21:32It's not the fastest 40 that we've seen, but just the whole package there was impressive.
21:39You see Jeremy Robinson now from Kansas.
21:45I think Coach Leipold talked about him as maybe, again,
21:49another odd front type player, stand him up on the outside in a two-point stance
21:53and let him go as an outside linebacker.
21:56Racked up 5.5 sacks this year for the Jayhawks.
22:034.83.
22:11If you're at a school pro day, you're watching defensive linemen run.
22:17They'll put all the different guys together, not just one position or another.
22:21Normally you'll have three to five draft-eligible defensive linemen in a group.
22:27It's a pro day here technically, but man, we've got how many defensive linemen?
22:32We've got 41 defensive linemen to go through.
22:37It definitely has a little bit more of a combined feel, right?
22:41But again, that's one of the benefits of this environment
22:44is, again, seeing guys that you maybe have similar grades on
22:50that are in those clusters together that can maybe try to separate
22:53when you get to evaluate apples to apples.
22:56Look, I'll be honest with my process, and it's going to be with some of the guys here with teams.
23:01You'll have the area scouts who know all these players because they've covered those schools,
23:04but then you get the over-the-top scouts and directors
23:07who maybe they don't have high grades on some of these guys.
23:10They haven't done them yet, but you're filling in these numbers.
23:12You're watching them work out, and I'm starring the guys that,
23:15okay, this is on my priority list. I want to go watch this player.
23:17I'm going to go watch that player. I want to do a little homework on them.
23:21I'm trying to pull some guys out of the pile.
23:25And we talked about how this, you know, joked about how this can kind of take scouts
23:30out of the school on the pro day circuit because we're bringing everybody together
23:35into one venue to watch these 16 schools and these players.
23:39I want you to get a look at that 497 from Zakiya Strong.
23:42But, I mean, again, it's not like the area scouts aren't in those buildings throughout the year
23:46and getting to visit with coaches and players, you know, and people,
23:49supports that people that touch these players and that are around them.
23:51Yeah, I think you have to be a little more proactive.
23:53I think you, in the past, could rely on the pro day to be able to get face-to-face
23:58with an academic advisor or, you know, a strength coach.
24:01Now you have to try and, you know, maybe you make another visit late in the fall
24:05to go get that extra, you know, conversation or exposure
24:08with someone you have a relationship with.
24:13Caleb Taylor will be one of those interior players at just under 310 pounds.
24:25Taylor was right at 6'4", even.
24:315'4", 5.
24:33That's right.
24:39Cody Watershield up next here, Oklahoma State.
24:46And, you know, some people might look and you look at some of the production for some of these guys
24:50and you're like, gosh, they don't have a ton of production.
24:52Yeah, but it's still your opportunity.
24:53I mean, I've been at pro days where players had, you know, minimal production,
24:58but they popped at a pro day and you went, oh, okay, let's give this guy a look maybe.
25:02It just didn't work out for him at his particular school.
25:04Yeah.
25:05You've also been at pro days where some guys with their vertical jumps
25:11have their feet end up at the same level as your shoulders.
25:14Yeah, that would be the Reggie Bush.
25:16Yeah, Reggie Bush.
25:17I was wearing a sweet Tommy Bahamas shirt in that picture,
25:21which was maybe six sizes too big.
25:23It was just the baggy clothing era.
25:25It was.
25:26It was.
25:27Took that one right out of Andy Reid's closet, didn't you?
25:30Don't you lie.
25:31Yeah, I think Andy thought it was a little big on him.
25:33That thing was large that I was wearing.
25:37Here, Woodkey.
25:38All right, Dylan Woodkey.
25:41Just under 6'4", 261 pounds.
25:46Goes 4.95.
25:48All right.
25:55Tavita photo here.
25:57That's right.
25:58Utah.
26:00Utah is always going to have defensive linemen.
26:02And even if they aren't going to get picked,
26:03they're going to get in camp because you know you're getting a tough,
26:06physical kid.
26:08Coach Whittingham, I mean, that is.
26:10Usually not a kid.
26:11I shouldn't use that word.
26:12Usually they're older, more mature.
26:13Yep.
26:24Photo.
26:26Really nice game against Houston this past year.
26:31Five tackles from this D-line spot.
26:34Runs 5-2-8.
26:40Bradley here.
26:41Is this the last one?
26:42This would be the last one of the first run.
26:44Oh, no.
26:45This is Steve Linton, actually.
26:46We're rolling right into LBs, yeah.
26:48He's an interesting one.
26:50Yeah, he's going to move into the D-line group because of what he did at Baylor.
26:55Yeah, he's a fun player to watch.
26:57Yeah.
26:58Saw him at the Combine.
27:01He's got really, really long arms.
27:0734-1⁄2-inch arms, and he can move.
27:12Let's see this time.
27:14All right, let's see the time here.
27:15Steve Linton making a short drive from Waco.
27:194-8-1.
27:20I thought he would have run even faster than that.
27:22We'll get a second run for him.
27:24He's got a good getoff when you watch him rush off the edge.
27:27He had a great game against Colorado.
27:30They couldn't block him.
27:31Okay, we're going to get a little versatility here with our next run,
27:35running with the defensive linemen.
27:37It's a tight end from Utah, Miki Suga-Turanga.
27:42Give him a look here.
27:44More he can do.
27:47I suppose he could have run with the tight ends as well,
27:49but maybe going to get a little workout here with the D-line.
27:52Is this our next Pegues from Ole Miss?
27:57JJ.
28:00He's running good.
28:03At least he got out the gates good.
28:05He is going to be doing some of the drills with the defensive linemen,
28:09so I'm excited to see maybe get a little position switch possibility here.
28:15484 is the 40-yard dash for Suga-Turanga.
28:28All right, and now we are back to the top with Isaiah Bagna.
28:34Ran just under five on his first run.
28:38Let's see if he can best that time.
28:41Again, came from Boise State.
29:01What time did we get on Bagna here?
29:03Let's see if he –
29:07Stick with that first time.
29:08Yep, we'll go with the 4.97 on that one.
29:12Let's see what the official comes in at.
29:16Although I guess without the laser time, they kind of choose –
29:19These are the officials is basically what we're going with here.
29:23I always joke though, I check in with scouts at pro days to get times on players,
29:29and I can always tell who has high grades based on times.
29:33You get a bunch of times that are 4.53, 4.56,
29:36and all of a sudden you get a 4.42.
29:37You're like, wait, how big is your grade on that guy?
29:39Yeah, yeah, yeah.
29:45Ricky Barber.
29:48Starter in all the games that he played this year at UCF.
29:50Missed a couple due to injury.
29:54UCF I think is well-positioned.
29:56They're in a good conference here with the Big 12.
29:58You've got the state of Florida to recruit in high school.
30:00Even if you're getting the third, fourth, fifth guys after they've passed on
30:04maybe Florida State, Miami, Florida.
30:06There's still so much talent in that state,
30:08and you have a chance with the portal to get bounce back kids.
30:12Kids who grew up in Florida go away.
30:14It doesn't work out for them.
30:15UCF is a great landing spot for them to come back home.
30:17And Scott Frost has won there before.
30:19Yes, he's very, very well-accustomed,
30:22and he's got new parameters now with the way college football is set up
30:25that I think will benefit him.
30:26Oh, without question.
30:28Still in the American then, right, when he was there.
30:33National champs, right?
30:34Yeah, that's right.
30:41All right, DeBraylon Carroll back here again.
30:43A ton of production.
30:45The frame's not going to necessarily excite you in terms of norms for a defensive lineman,
30:51but boy, they loved him at Texas Tech.
30:58First run through, he had a 5-2-6.
31:00He got a little better here with a 5-2-5.
31:14DJ, just so you know, I decided to not participate in my 40-yard dash at the Pro Dang
31:22because I had a sprained thumb.
31:24Well, it's smart.
31:25You can't run fast with a bad thumb.
31:27I mean, how are you supposed to get a good start with your hand down?
31:29That's what I'm saying.
31:31You know, still waiting on the combine invite, but that's all right.
31:36Jeff Clark coming up here just under 6 foot.
31:39I graduated December.
31:40They called and said, you come back for the Pro Day.
31:41I said, I've already got a job.
31:42Yeah, we're good.
31:43Thanks.
31:44We're good.
31:45Now, we should talk to the resident Pro Day star in our group, Bucky Brooks, down there.
31:50Buck, what was your Pro Day time?
31:52What did you get in there?
31:53Guys, you got me?
31:55Rumor has it it was like he was in the 4-3s.
31:58It might have been way back in the day.
32:00It's so fast.
32:01He doesn't want to tell you.
32:02He's just humble.
32:03He's humble.
32:04He can't hear me.
32:05That's all right.
32:07All right, back here at the Big 12 Pro Day in Frisco, Texas,
32:10catching up on some 40s that we missed.
32:14Keith Cooper Jr. with his second run makes it at 5.08,
32:19so right on matching his first time.
32:22Javier Derrett from Kansas.
32:25Just a shade slower than his first time at 5.27.
32:31Obi Ezeigbo.
32:35Running 4.88, again, matching that first time exactly.
32:38Daylon Dotson, no second 40.
32:40That's right.
32:42He's going to stand on that 5.13.
32:44Van Fillinger, 5.01.
32:49And that brings us to Caleb Fox.
32:535.38 on the first time at 317 pounds.
32:59By the way, the TCU campus,
33:01I don't know if you've been on that campus at all lately.
33:03Holy cow, that might be one of the prettiest campuses in the country.
33:05Let's go.
33:06I was there last summer.
33:08It's not far away.
33:09Take a trip.
33:10Take a little campus tour.
33:11Incredible.
33:13Bucky, we've been waiting with bated breath,
33:16as I'm sure everyone at home has,
33:18since we teased your 40-yard dash time at your pro day back in 1994.
33:23Yeah, like now that I'm back, yeah.
33:26So we had an opportunity to run something in the 4.3s, 4.36.
33:29Let's go.
33:30It will be the official time after a very disappointing combine workout.
33:33They had me in the 4.5s because you guys like to post at 4.54.
33:37That was a bad deal, Buck.
33:39Bad, bad week.
33:41Didn't handle pressure well.
33:43Hey, Buck, how old do you feel when I tell you that was 31 years ago?
33:47It's so bad.
33:49But you know what?
33:50I feel great because Aaron Glenn is a draft mate.
33:53That's right.
33:54Same draft class.
33:55So when I see Aaron show up fully grayed out.
33:57Oh, yeah.
33:58I see that.
33:59You felt good about yourself then.
34:00Yeah, a little salt and pepper.
34:01But, yeah, we migrated.
34:03A.G. is now head coach with the New York Jets.
34:05So I don't feel as bad.
34:07That's funny.
34:094.70 is our top time of the day, and it comes from B.J. Green.
34:14A one of two.
34:16Conor O'Toole also hit a 4.70.
34:19So Green going to try to get this thing maybe a slight under 4.70.
34:23We have a lead of 21 under 16.
34:26Let's see what we got.
34:28You know, I'm glad Green elected to run and not sit out because of a –
34:324.70.
34:33Stick with that first one.
34:34Yep.
34:354.70 doesn't look bad on the card at all.
34:37No, you'll take that.
34:41T.J. Jackson getting out of the gates.
34:44287 pounds.
34:45Had a 5.15 on that first run through.
34:48Buck, we were talking earlier, and I don't know if you heard us,
34:51but we were talking about the different conferences
34:54at certain positions have particular body types.
34:56Have you noticed that from this group of defensive linemen?
35:00Yes, I absolutely have noticed that.
35:02And I want to say this being the most respectful that I can be,
35:06but some of these D linemen are like a bunch of fire hydrants,
35:09like little plugs, right?
35:10Like little short, stocky, stout guys.
35:13There's one right here.
35:14Tough against them running.
35:15A lot of those guys in the conference.
35:16Quincy Ledet, 6'6", 310 pounds.
35:20Buck, you think in the draft room they still use the term sawed off
35:23like we did back in the day?
35:25I was wondering if we could still use those terms.
35:27Sure.
35:28It's a lot of different terms.
35:29Sawed off.
35:30I even thought like is fire hydrant being offensive?
35:33Well, I wasn't going to say sawed off, but once you went fire hydrant,
35:35I thought that I had the liberty there.
35:37You opened the door on that one.
35:42There's Ledet, Jr.
35:43Quincy got a little bit of a false start on that first one,
35:47or first attempt at the second one, I should say.
35:50Going to re-rack this one.
35:54You know, Bucky, you've got an interesting piece to share as well
35:58throughout your NFL career,
36:00having getting drafted as a receiver out of UNC.
36:03You made the transition to the defensive side of the ball
36:06later in your career,
36:07and those are some of the things that I feel like evaluators can notice
36:11about guys here.
36:13We even saw it with the tight end from Utah,
36:15who's working out here as a D lineman,
36:17and will run some tight end drills as well.
36:20But that's part of what a pro day can bring you too, right?
36:23Absolutely.
36:24I mean, that's literally the story.
36:26That's how it happens.
36:27When you go through these drills,
36:28you may have a scout who falls in love with a player and is just trying
36:31to save him, trying to give him any opportunity.
36:33And so at that pro day, you not only look at the testing,
36:35you say, okay, well, those numbers are good.
36:37Maybe I can move him around and find a spot for him.
36:40So after everyone leaves,
36:42you kind of put them through another workout at a different position,
36:45so you can tell the coaches, like, hey,
36:46he may not be able to make it at one position,
36:48but maybe he can be a project at another.
36:50That's what pro days are really designed for,
36:52to be able to check out the athleticism,
36:54to see the possibilities based on how athletic and explosive a prospect is.
37:00I think about these workouts,
37:02and we're talking about some of these players who don't have a ton of
37:05production, haven't had a lot of opportunity.
37:07I always go back to our days with Matt Castle, you know?
37:10Yes.
37:11Got his opportunity at the pro day.
37:13Great one.
37:14Got himself a long career out of it.
37:16Yeah, he got drafted.
37:17That might be the best pro day story I've ever witnessed,
37:20because DJ, you may not remember,
37:22but that was the time that we couldn't get Lindell White to run.
37:26Right?
37:27Lindell White.
37:28Lindell White.
37:29All you need to do is – and I'm working with the Carolina Panthers at the time.
37:31I'm like, Linda, I just need a time.
37:33I don't care what you want.
37:34I just need a time.
37:35Like, we like you.
37:36We can't get him to run.
37:37Meanwhile, Matt Castle is over there throwing on the other field.
37:39Yeah.
37:40I don't know if anyone's paying attention.
37:42And then he gets drafted.
37:43And in the rooms, you know, when people get drafted,
37:46people are always like, hey, man.
37:48What do we have on him?
37:49Yeah, what do we have on him?
37:50Yeah.
37:51I was like, coach, he never played.
37:52Yeah.
37:53He legitimately never really played.
37:57Knowing L.A. now, he is a high school legend in the city section,
38:01leading his team to a championship and those things.
38:03So, you never know.
38:04It only takes one.
38:05That's right.
38:06Blake Mangelson improving his time on his second run.
38:10One of the few that's been able to go faster on the second run thus far
38:14goes from .506 to .501, so inching closer to a sub .540 there.
38:20Here's Sean Martin, 289 pounds, .494 on the first one.
38:26Kind of popped up on that one.
38:28Yeah, .496.
38:29So, he'll stick with his combine time, .488 there.
38:39You know, normally the benefit of working out at the pro days,
38:42you typically run faster because the conditions are ideal for you.
38:46Well, you're not having those long days either.
38:50You've had those long combine days.
38:52I can impact some guys.
38:54Yeah, and you used to be with the medical thing and all that.
38:56It was rare that you would find someone that could absolutely blow up the combine.
38:59So, the pro day was always to fall back.
39:15There's Mitchell, 318 pounds.
39:18First time was a .571.
39:21Let's see if we got under that here.
39:25Come on, come on.
39:27Ah!
39:28Stick with that .571.
39:30Yeah, .576 on that second run for Tymon Mitchell.
39:37Now, we've got to go back and watch his interception this year at TCU.
39:43That return's got to be some good TV.
39:47Come on.
39:49See that big man run that way.
39:55Brandon Mott.
39:57This is an interesting one for me.
39:59He was the defensive lineman of the year in the conference.
40:01Talked to Chris Kleiman about it.
40:03Didn't get any invites to the all-star game circuit.
40:06They really thought he was a big-time player for them.
40:09Oh, he led the conference at sacks.
40:13Eight and a half sacks.
40:15I feel like he's kind of running that one.
40:22Nice and smooth.
40:23.497 on that first run for Mott.
40:27And gets a little faster on the second one at .496.
40:33You know, DJ, you guys brought up a really interesting point.
40:37Which are going to be more important than the .40s when it's all said and done.
40:42But, again, as an edge rusher, you're looking for...
40:46He's a technician, man.
40:47Yeah, you're looking for a .161 type 10.
40:49Oh, sure, and the 10s. We'll show you those 10s.
40:51Low .46s and a .40. You're talking about the premier, premier, guys.
40:56Here we go. Fitorma Malba.
40:59309 pounds. Ran .511 on that first one.
41:03And that's it. .507 on the second run.
41:06That's a good improvement.
41:12Big John Nelson here.
41:15First time through, .494.
41:19Started 12 games at BYU.
41:22Striding it out.
41:25This guy that gets his hands up, right?
41:28If he doesn't get home at .507, he's going to get his hands up.
41:32He's going to get his hands up.
41:34He's going to get his hands up.
41:37This guy that gets his hands up, right?
41:40If he doesn't get home at five deflections
41:43there at the line of scrimmage on throws.
41:47And we'll go .494 on the second run.
41:50It's a DNA match. Yep.
41:57You're going to bring a big line of snowell here for the second run.
42:01Am I telling tales out of school, or is it a chance we might get a chance
42:04to talk to Travis Hunter and Shadour tomorrow?
42:07Is that possible?
42:09Shadour?
42:11I don't want to over-promise and under-deliver,
42:13so I just want to know if there's a chance we might have Shadour with us.
42:17I think Coach Prime's going to be around here tomorrow.
42:20Yes, indeed. Yes, indeed.
42:22I know Bucky's going to get a chance to talk to Coach Prime,
42:25perhaps down in the field there.
42:29Hey, Buck, as someone who played both ways in the NFL,
42:32if you were going to be the consultant for Travis Hunter
42:36in his eventual workout, if he is going to do one for teams,
42:40how would you construct the workout?
42:43I mean, there's so much that I already see on tape,
42:46so I would give all the teams a little teaser
42:49on what I could be on both sides of the ball.
42:51Like, offensively, I'm going to run all the routes
42:53and catch all the passes and do all the spectacular stuff.
42:56And then on defense, I'm going to do the same.
42:59Look, I just think wherever he goes and whoever takes him,
43:03you just have to have a clear plan for how you want to use him.
43:05I will say this because there's been a lot of conversations.
43:07People have talked about Charles Woodson and Cham Bailey.
43:10Cham Bailey really played both sides of the ball at Georgia.
43:14But I'm going to say Travis is a little different than both of those guys.
43:18To me, he's been more impactful and more polished
43:21as a playmaker on both sides than the way those guys were.
43:25Well, he played a lot more on offense than those guys did.
43:28Because what's different is he won the Bolitnikoff Award
43:32at wide receiver, signifying he was the best wide receiver in the country.
43:36And then he played defense and was lights out.
43:38So it's just a different conversation
43:41when we talk about a two-way specialist.
43:45Chidozie Wongqua ends up a little bit better than his first run
43:49at 5.50 on the second.
43:52Conor O'Toole, who was one of our fast 40s on the first run, 4.70.
43:56It tied for the fastest.
43:59Just under 250 pounds.
44:01Oh, here we go.
44:02We're into the 4.60s, Deej.
44:034.66 on the second run.
44:06He already had the star next to his name.
44:07He did.
44:08It's a double star there.
44:09I like that.
44:10I got a question, Deej.
44:11Yes, sir.
44:12So before, you were always an advocate for Travis Hunter playing wide receiver
44:16because there's more money going over there.
44:19But now I feel like with Derek Stangley,
44:21kind of moving the money up to $30 million per.
44:24Yeah, but Jamar Chase, look what he did to that money.
44:27But I know we're talking about like $35.
44:30So maybe, just maybe, the defensive coaches say,
44:33hey, this is a little more of a conversation
44:35than being able to make him a lockdown corner
44:37as opposed to he needs to go to the offensive meeting.
44:39I think it depends on where he goes.
44:41To me, if you're the New England Patriots,
44:43how do you look Drake May in the eye and say,
44:45oh, yeah, this guy who we got who's better at receiver
44:47than anybody on our roster, we're going to play him on defense
44:50and let you play with him about five to eight snaps a game.
44:53That'd be a hard conversation to have with Drake May.
44:56Well, I think this, because everyone is saying,
44:59oh, he's going to be taxed and tired and whatever.
45:02I just think about the number of snaps in a pro game.
45:04It's significantly less than what you see in college.
45:07And the fact that he played every snap in Colorado almost on most games,
45:11I don't know, I'm pretty confident.
45:13He still played about 140 snaps a game.
45:15When you're playing corner in college, Buck,
45:17and these formations are spreading you from sea to shining sea
45:21and you're lining up on the sideline where you can darn near touch hands
45:24with your coach when you're covering him,
45:26whereas in the NFL, they're going to bring you in in these bunches
45:29and they're going to make you have to be the force player
45:32against the run against grown NFL backs.
45:35That's the only thing that would concern me.
45:39So watching Eric Phillips there on his second run,
45:42curious to see what Garmin Randolph does here.
45:44I know he didn't have the fastest,
45:46but again at 265 pounds with a big 6'6'' frame there,
45:51he ran 4.78 on that first run.
45:54Caught our eye.
45:56He looks like a basketball player.
45:58First time through.
46:00He looks like he could be playing in a tournament on Thursday.
46:02Super long.
46:06Let's see what we get here on the second run.
46:10Long, long stride.
46:13Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
46:14He's interesting.
46:19Okay.
46:20Right on target with the first one.
46:214.78 again.
46:24He does look like he'd be a good player.
46:25That'll get a star.
46:26That'll get a star on the sheet, right?
46:27Yeah, he got a star.
46:28Yeah, there you go.
46:37Buck, the other thing that scouts like about this
46:40versus the schools is, I don't know,
46:44I saw food downstairs, man.
46:46You feed scouts.
46:47You get catering while you're watching guys run.
46:49Look, I knew where DJ was going.
46:51It was already, I was like,
46:52he's going to say something about the catering,
46:53and DJ, you're absolutely right.
46:56It was one of those things where like as a scout,
46:58you're looking up there and I'm on the main concourse
47:00and I see like the NFL hospitality.
47:03I was like, oh, so we got snacks, we got chips,
47:05we got all kinds of drinks.
47:07It was like a nice little spread.
47:08I'll be right back.
47:09Yeah, like I was like, okay.
47:12Saved up for DM for dinner.
47:13Yeah, saved up for DM for dinner.
