00:00Raja Singh, we've always felt, had serious potential as a stallion. He was a group two,
00:13winning two-year-old at Royal Ascol. He won the Coventry in the fastest time ever.
00:18When his first crop came out, we were all aware that the numbers just quite weren't
00:22where the industry would expect them to be and to have a successful start as a stallion career,
00:28but we were so impressed with the way his progeny came out. They were winning races,
00:32they were winning races routinely and very slowly the strike rate just climbed up as the years had
00:38progressed. The strike rate had been maintained, his progeny performed at a very high level
00:44consistently, so we found it very frustrating that he wasn't perhaps getting the attention
00:50and the mares that he deserved and we were routinely having people asking or coming up
00:54to us and saying, well, Raja Singh's a good stallion, isn't he? It wasn't always correlating
00:59to the nominations, but we persisted and Phil Cunningham's persisted as well.
01:05Phil has always supported Raja Singh very significantly through the years and always
01:10been a big believer of the horse and that's because when he put them into training with his
01:15trainer here, Richard Spencer, with Rebel Racing, they were routinely performing week on week, so
01:20he's seen hands-on how the progeny could run and supported him accordingly, so we're in a position
01:26now where we just feel that he deserves more numbers, so we sit down, we go, what can we do?
01:31It wasn't only about making sure people came and booked their mares and that met the criteria,
01:35but they were ringing up and we were having a conversation with them about what can we do?
01:40They are breeders at a lower level, so it's nice to have these conversations about where people are
01:46at, what we can do to help and conjure a plan up that ticks everybody's boxes.
01:52Raja Singh is renowned here at the stud for his temperament, the way he is so relaxed,
01:58the way he just goes about everything in such a professional way and when we talk about it,
02:03I suppose every stallion has probably been described as that, but he really is renowned
02:07here for the way he behaves, the way he is around the staff, the students and for people coming to
02:13see the stud and the stallions, so he's become a legendary character as such around here. We love
02:19him to pieces and hopefully we see people coming in, getting on board and they'll be able to
02:25experience that with the progeny because the progeny, very much I've noticed his foals are
02:29very straightforward, very good conformation, sort of built like himself, like Raja Singh,
02:36which is a very strong sprinting type, so hopefully more people in the future can experience that and
02:40see that. For the 2025 breeding season, if you have a mare that has been rated 70
02:48throughout her racing career, a peak rating of 70 or above, or has produced progeny that have
02:53been rated 70 or above, you then qualify for a free nomination to Raja Singh. There are a few
03:00more criterias, but what we're doing is we're encouraging people with that sort of mare
03:04to give us a call and we can have a chat.
