00:00Stuart Williams is one of the most shrewd trainers in England having recently trained
00:06his 1,000 winner. Finding the right opportunities for horses in England can be tricky, which
00:11has led the new market-based trainer taking his three-year-old filly, Pandora's Gift,
00:16to America for the Grade 2 Presque Isle Master Stakes. Ahead of her run, Stuart tells us
00:21how this trip overseas came about.
00:25She's called Pandora's Gift. We bought her in Ireland, €28. She was second first time
00:32and then she won two novice races and then won the final day handicap at Lingfield by
00:39five lengths. Then she won the listed race, the Chelmer Stakes at Chelmsford by three
00:45and a half lengths. Then she was third the other day in Nace and ran a nice race there
00:50on ground that wouldn't have suited her again. We were looking for another race for her this
00:55year and pretty much the ground's gone here for her anyway. We thought we'd roll the dice
01:02and give it a go in Presque Isle Downs. Kirsty, the wife, used to work in Fairhill. She's
01:09got friends out there, Kelly Colgan and Peter McDermott. The horse is going to ship out
01:14to them. One of our staff's gone with it, Lorenzo Astori, who rides work for us. He's
01:22been riding there quite a lot. He's gone out there with her to Fairhill and then they're
01:25going to ship from Fairhill to Presque Isle Downs on the day before the race. I think
01:30if we're putting an American jockey on, we'd have to be pony to the start and then we'd
01:34have to have someone stand in the gate with her. We'd like to do what we've been doing
01:38already. Ben rode here for a number of years. He's ridden loads of winners for us before
01:43and it fit well. Obviously, a lot of travelling to get there, but she's tough and she's been
01:50eating up well. We've had a little cant around the Tepita track at Fairhill and she's been
01:54good as gold, so we're very happy with that. There's a couple of plans. If she won or ran
02:00really well, we might stay out there and have another race. There's a race at Belmont on
02:05Aqueduct, but it's called the Belmont Aqueduct this year because Belmont's closed. We might
02:10run there. We could come straight home. She might go to the December sales. We might race
02:17her again next year. It's all up in the air a bit at the moment, so we'll have a better
02:22plan after she runs.
