00:00Every year, Stone Street Farm brings an elite roster of yearlings to Keeneland September
00:06Sales Book 1.
00:08This year, their group includes siblings to Molithot, Good Magic, Gamene, Charlatan, Girvan,
00:13and more.
00:14We spoke with the Stone Street team about what it takes to prepare their yearlings for
00:18the big stage every September.
00:21You know our Book 1 this year is probably as good as we've ever had it, you know, at
00:26Keeneland.
00:27We've got around a dozen of really are some of our just absolute best horses that in my
00:33opinion that we've really bred over the years.
00:37I'm proud of the fact that we're bringing the best to the market and the best for Keeneland
00:43and helping to make this Book 1 of this year a really fantastic Book 1 that is a must for
00:52anybody that is in the horse business.
00:55My mother is a big believer and the fact of the matter is that if you have the integrity
01:01of the horse, if you have a horse person's attitude, you invest in the thoroughbred first.
01:07But quality shows over time.
01:10We raise our horses here to be racehorses so they spend the majority of their time outside.
01:16Robert and his crew have done an amazing job as they do every year and this land is, in
01:21my opinion, it's some of the best land here with the rolling hills and the undulations
01:26and the huge paddocks they get turned out in.
01:29The Awesome Flyer Gunrunner filly, absolutely beautiful, you know, we bought the mare carrying
01:36this filly.
01:37I'd seen Cyberknife, he was a very nice physical horse and I was hoping that the foal would
01:41be of similar quality.
01:43She's absolutely gorgeous.
01:45Rachel's Valentina, another beautiful filly, you know, fabulous family.
01:50The Intimischief Catch the Moon Colt, another beautiful, beautiful horse.
01:54This is the dam of Girvan, who's, you know, an up-and-coming young stallion.
02:01The Kirtland Convorting Colt, I mean, this horse is really, really special.
02:05Out of a mare that we bought in Convorting, she won major graded stakes.
02:11She's a 100% stakes producer.
02:13Her first foal was Clariere.
02:15I just can't imagine a horse with a better pedigree that stacks up physically to this
02:22horse at Keeneland.
02:24I like seeing our horses compete on the racetrack and I have sold some wonderful champions like
02:32Malathot and Gamene and of course I sold Good Magic and retained part of him.
02:39So I'm proud of all of our horses that compete on the racetrack, whether we have a part of
02:46them or not.
02:47We sell 90% roughly of the yearlings we produce every year.
02:51All the yearlings we bring to market, you know, we stand behind to the point where I'm
02:57sure people realize that we've liked them so much that we've kept part of them.
03:02So I think that says abundance of things of, you know, in respect to prospective buyers
03:08and how they should look at our horses.
03:11In some cases I have many members of the same family, so I will sell one from time to time
03:16that is really well bred and we have a number of them going to the sale that are from stellar
03:22families and the mares are grade one producers.
03:27A huge sales price, that's great, but you know our main objective is to create, breed
03:34these horses so they're successful on the racetrack.
03:38Both wine and thoroughbreds take a long-term vision.
03:41You have to have a big belief in quality and the best.
03:44I think it's respecting the integrity of the broodmare band.
03:48I think it's investing in horses that have tremendous sire potential and making sure
03:53that we have great lineage with the families that we represent here at Stout Street.
