00:00The price of onions and imported rice continues to fall among many families in the country.

00:20The price of onions in the market is decreasing rapidly due to its high supply.

00:26Compared to the past, we have dropped from P150 to P200.

00:35Around 3 weeks or 2 weeks.

00:37The price has fallen rapidly.

00:39P42 per kilo of white onions and P100 per kilo of red onions in the previous public market.

00:45The price of onions is even lower in the price watch of the Department of Agriculture

00:49where it is stable at P120 per kilo.

00:53186 metric tons of white onions entered the country from the expected 1,000 metric tons

00:59while no imported red onions entered the country.

01:02The fear of our friends who are planting and harvesting onions

01:09is no longer affected because there is no report of imported onions.

01:15Aside from onions, the price of imported rice is also falling.

01:19According to the DA, there are 641,000 metric tons of imported rice as of March 13,

01:24which is almost half of what was imported last year at the same time,

01:29which is 1.2 million metric tons.

01:31DA spokesperson Arnel De Mesa said,

01:34the rice is expected to be good this year.

01:37Some of the reasons why the price of rice in the market is falling and stabilizing

01:42is the lifting of the import ban in India, Saddam Basmati White Rice.

01:46The DA and DTI strictly monitor the prices of rice,

01:50especially the monitoring of the maximum suggested retail price

01:54and the arresting of agricultural products hoarders.

01:57The Department of Agriculture also targets the implementation of standard labeling on rice.

02:02This is to solve the problems and avoid the maximum suggested retail price of 5% broken imported rice.

02:10If you look at what we are issuing, RFA 5%, RFA 25%, RFA 100%,

02:18it's only 5% and other special brands, they will say that they are exempted.
