00:00People thought that I gave up on franchise mode, that I had quit and was never coming back.
00:05Do you really think that the best GM in NHL history,
00:08Rostislav Nashrov, would give up that easily? Absolutely.
00:13I'm telling you right now, this series will not end until I win a Stanley Cup.
00:18If it takes me until NHL 32, so be it, I will still be uploading franchise videos.
00:24On a real note though, I do want to apologize for the huge delay that we had between videos.
00:28The last couple months have been a whirlwind. We went out to Fargo, North Dakota with the Force,
00:33Montreal, Canada for the Four Nations Tournament,
00:35and then the Stadium Series here in my hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
00:39Honestly, I think we've been putting out some of the best content
00:42ever on my channel over the last few weeks. So if you haven't seen it yet, go check it out.
00:46With that being said, we are now back on the grind,
00:49which means more consistent franchise mode videos coming each and every week.
00:53So let's get into it.
00:55Last episode, we started to fix some of the mistakes that we made in the first episode.
00:59The expansion draft, let's be honest, absolutely horrible.
01:03However, in the midst of trying to fix those mistakes,
01:05we may have made possibly the biggest mistake that we ever could have made.
01:10I received a trade offer, Spencer Knight for White Cloud and a third round pick in 2026.
01:17This trade offer came in with like two minutes left in the trade deadline.
01:21I was panicking. I was trying to get it done.
01:24Go down to a fourth round pick, switch it up. It didn't work.
01:27And at the buzzer, we unfortunately did not get the trade done.
01:32That very well may have changed the trajectory of my entire franchise mode for the worst.
01:37But we're going to redo that deal at the end of the season and hopefully get it back.
01:41Looking at our standings, we are currently 25th in the league
01:44here in the regular season with it ending 34, 42, and 6.
01:49Not a good place to be, would prefer to be down lower,
01:52but we will at least get a decent draft pick.
01:55Taking a look at our player stats, not much better.
01:57Our leading point scorer there, Tarasenko with 53 points and only 18 goals.
02:04However, there are some redeeming things.
02:06Our first round draft pick, Seth Friesen, already up to an 82 overall.
02:10I mean, he didn't get that many points, but he played really well.
02:13We're going to give him more minutes this year.
02:15He should be on good pace to get up to a 90 at some point soon.
02:18Taking a look at our playoff bracket here,
02:20toss some guesses down in the comment section below.
02:22Who is taking the cup?
02:23In the bottom left, we have the Chicago Blackhawks, which who knows how they got there.
02:29Honestly, everything else looks relatively realistic as to what we could see in person.
02:35All right, central scouting ranking.
02:36So here's our draft class here for the 20, wait, what year?
02:392026, 2027 draft?
02:42We have Bobkov, our boy!
02:45Yo, Artem Bobkov.
02:47That's like Rostislav Nastrov, the most creative name possible.
02:50I hope Bobkov is not an actual player.
02:53We do have Bobkov there, number one.
02:56Matthew Schaefer, I actually had the chance to meet him out at a Bauer event.
03:00Absolutely nasty, lefty, righty.
03:02Elite potential there.
03:03Martone, Verkunen, McQueen in the mix, and Malcolm Spence, who was also out at that Bauer event.
03:10Absolute legend.
03:11We finished 25th in the league, so again, we should be looking around here for our potential
03:16picks.
03:16We do have the SR here, which is who the scout recommends.
03:20So we might actually end up getting Malcolm Spence.
03:22That would be a good pickup for us.
03:23Dimitrakos.
03:25Wait, what is that Sims logo thing?
03:27You're on the right side.
03:29Tell me that that is not the Sims logo that is above the guy's head that you're controlling
03:34from way back when.
03:36The Sims logo is a gem, so gem or bust.
03:40We have Dimitrakos, who is locked in as a gem.
03:44You know what?
03:45I might try to go for the gems.
03:46Maybe that means it's a lock that they are going to be top six.
03:50Playoffs are complete.
03:51Oh my.
03:52You cannot make this up.
03:53Rostislav Nasharov, obviously the goaltender of the Toronto Maple Leafs, retires two seasons
03:59later.
04:00The Toronto Maple Leafs are the Stanley Cup champions.
04:04Wow.
04:05The drought is officially over.
04:07Toronto, your time is coming.
04:09Congratulations.
04:10You know what?
04:11No ill will here from Rostislav Nasharov.
04:14It is well-deserved.
04:15Here are the results for the draft lottery.
04:18There probably are two Columbuses.
04:19We should be the one there at number nine.
04:22So expected to go nine.
04:23We did not move up or down.
04:25The Columbus Blue Jackets are down there at 15.
04:28The Columbus Heat are at number nine.
04:31Players have retired.
04:33Backstrom, Perry, Shea Weber, Luchich, Onisimov.
04:39Dude, these are some sick names, man.
04:42Reeves is done.
04:44Clifford Hunt.
04:46Some big names now done with their NHL careers.
04:50It is time to bring back a fan favorite, the comment of the day.
04:54I'll be selecting three random comments in each video to feature in the next one.
04:58So if you want the chance to be featured as the comment of the day, leave a comment down below.
05:03Our first comment comes from none other than TacticsHD, who said,
05:07I had people commenting on my video that you needed help.
05:10First of all, I would like to say whoever went to Tactics channel
05:14and put in the comments, Nasher needs help in franchise mode.
05:17How dare you?
05:18I am locked in right now and we are turning this season around starting this episode.
05:24All right.
05:24No more comments to Tactics.
05:26I don't need any help.
05:27All right.
05:28Tactics, if you do want to come over to my house and we can like collaborate on an episode,
05:31maybe get you in here, make some moves for me, that would be appreciated.
05:35So let me know.
05:36Comment number two comes from MaxTheRiver.
05:38He has some huge suggestions for us.
05:41Here's a few of his notes.
05:42You could still turn off injuries in the settings.
05:44Not sure about morale, but if you can, you should.
05:47So injuries are just random and they can ruin franchise mode.
05:50I will be turning that off.
05:52He says we should turn off owner mode.
05:54We already mentioned that earlier.
05:55I will look into that.
05:57The Spencer nitrate was an absolute steal.
06:01I know.
06:02And last but not least, I love the videos.
06:04Please keep them coming.
06:05Hopefully this helps a bit.
06:06Shout out to MaxTheRiver.
06:08For real, the comment section of all of my videos has been so wholesome since we started
06:13franchise mode.
06:14No more spam in franchise mode, anything.
06:16You guys are showing so much love and helping me out.
06:18I have no idea what I'm doing, so I really do appreciate it.
06:21Our third comment comes from Weck.
06:23I'm not going to read the entire thing, but this may be the most wholesome comment that
06:27I have ever seen.
06:28Weck, you're an absolute legend.
06:29Pause the video, read it if you want.
06:31For real, I appreciate all the love, man.
06:34I'm going to get you a Stanley Cup, Weck.
06:35All right.
06:36This one's for you.
06:37As always, leave a comment down below if you want to get featured in the next episode.
06:40It is time for the biggest draft of our careers.
06:44Here we go.
06:45All right.
06:45We are now entering the NHL entry draft here.
06:49And again, we are coming in at pick nine.
06:51So let's start to see what makes sense here.
06:53I'm going to start looking for some trades too, because if we can get another first round
06:57pick, that'd be huge for us.
06:59Absolutely huge.
07:00Okay.
07:00So we're going to be smart here and not just spam the sim button like I did the last time.
07:05First, we'll find some trades.
07:07Okay.
07:07I did see comments on this as well.
07:09If I want to look at like open trade.
07:10So if I select Spurgeon and hit LB, I can see all sorts of different trades coming in
07:16for Spurgeon there.
07:18Ooh, Spencer Knight!
07:20We can get it back!
07:22Yes!
07:23Wait, that is an elite trade.
07:26Okay.
07:26Spurgeon for Spencer Knight.
07:28We can do that one for one.
07:29Keep on looking here.
07:30That might actually be the play.
07:32I don't mind that at all.
07:33Why does Florida want to get rid of Spencer Knight so much?
07:37This might end up being better than the White Cloud one.
07:40Dude, I actually like this trade.
07:42Spurgeon for Spencer Knight.
07:44We have done it!
07:45We have got Spencer Knight.
07:46I think he has potential to be our number one goalie for a long time.
07:51What a trade.
07:52Got rid of an older player, picked up Spencer Knight.
07:55That is huge.
07:56Bob Cobb did go number one overall.
07:58Rightfully deserved there for Bob Cobb.
08:01Bob Cobb.
08:01Well done, buddy.
08:02Can we get rid of Perron?
08:04We can.
08:05A third and a fourth is not great.
08:07Third and four, third and four.
08:08So it looks like market value there for Perron is going to be a third and fourth.
08:1323-year-old, 72 overall with top 4D potential.
08:17He does only have one year on his contract, but we can obviously sign him back.
08:202.1 milli for Yarny.
08:23We get rid of an older player, we get a good defenseman.
08:25That is what we are looking to do, right?
08:27I'm going to take it.
08:28I'm going to take that, Yarny.
08:29The morale has dropped on a couple of our players.
08:32Every single player on our team is losing morale.
08:34Sick.
08:35Thanks, boys.
08:36So we are going to go ahead and sim until our pick.
08:39Des Noyers.
08:40Caleb Des Noyers.
08:41Medium potential.
08:43Elite.
08:43That could be a no-brainer pick.
08:45How far down was that gem?
08:47I'm so curious about that gem.
08:49I know it's definitely not worth dropping that far down, but the gem is interesting to me.
08:55I didn't even see that last episode.
08:57The best case scenario for us dropping down to number nine.
09:01So Des Noyers, welcome to the squad.
09:03Huge pickup for the boys.
09:05Another big 6-2 center.
09:07And yeah, he's going to be playing well for us.
09:10So huge.
09:10Him and Freecin.
09:12Future of the Columbus Heat.
09:14No doubt about it.
09:15Heading into our next draft pick.
09:17Smiles!
09:19The gem!
09:20Yes!
09:22Okay.
09:23Oh, this is huge.
09:24Okay, not only...
09:25I mean, he's top six with medium potential, and he's the only one with the gem.
09:29From the USA, Timothy Smiles.
09:33I don't even know if this is a good pick.
09:34We are taking him.
09:36What a pick, boys.
09:37Did kind of forget about the binoculars.
09:39I have no idea.
09:41Timothy Smiles.
09:42I should have been looking at the binoculars.
09:44I don't know what our chances of that being accurate are.
09:47I'd rather take my chances on a top six than have a guaranteed bottom six, if that makes sense.
09:53So we're going to go with Tanner Lamb.
09:54Welcome to the team.
09:56And at this point, I have no idea what I'm doing.
09:57So I'm just going to go ahead and sim the rest of the draft.
10:00Here are the players.
10:02There's Noyers, Smiles, Lamb, Sweat, and Junilla.
10:07Welcome to the Columbus Heat.
10:09You know what?
10:10I thought since we weren't going to be playing the game, that we'd get away from a lot of the glitches.
10:14This is what I'm currently seeing on my screen after the draft.
10:17Oh, we can't hit the A button's doing nothing.
10:19The B button's doing nothing.
10:21Okay.
10:21This is very, very bad.
10:23I don't think I can save.
10:25I can't back out.
10:27And our GM mode may be ruined.
10:30I just had the best draft.
10:31I made some of the biggest trades that I've ever made.
10:35And it is all going to be lost.
10:37And we might have to redo absolutely everything.
10:39This is unbelievable, dude.
10:42Come on, EA.
10:44How?
10:46And it didn't, I have not saved.
10:48Unless there's an auto save.
10:50I hope there's an auto save.
10:52Please.
10:52Well, we are back in the game.
10:54And yes, I've lost absolutely everything.
10:56So I'm going to try to recreate everything that you guys just watched.
11:01I mean, this, I don't know if it's going to happen the same.
11:04Like, dude, this sucks.
11:07I think everything worked out.
11:08I made all the trades.
11:09They all went through.
11:10We got all the same draft picks, regardless of the sim.
11:13As long as we hit advanced here and it doesn't glitch out again, we should be good.
11:16And that we are.
11:17Okay.
11:18We are back, boys.
11:19Hey, get fired up.
11:20Before we do anything, let's go ahead and save a new file here.
11:24Here are our expiring contracts.
11:26Brett Burns, we may just have to say goodbye to.
11:29But again, if we could sign up for one year, two year, whatever, that's fine.
11:32Jake Evans definitely want to get a big contract going to him.
11:36Let's do three million for four years.
11:38Just get a little bit more on there.
11:40I do think he's going to be a player that helps us out a lot.
11:42So I'm just going to go ahead and offer him this.
11:45Romanov's asking for 3.69 times three.
11:47A little bit high for him.
11:48I'll give him a 3.2.
11:50I think that's fair.
11:51He'll get back to us tonight.
11:52Focus to 81 overall.
11:542.25 times three.
11:56That's fair.
11:56We'll give him one.
11:57He accepts it right on the spot.
11:58So we got all of our RFAs.
12:00Now we just have our UFAs.
12:01Are there any of these that we are really excited about?
12:04I mean, Pedersen's up to an 84 overall.
12:05He's only 29 years old.
12:07Definitely a guy that I would like to hang on to.
12:09He wants 5.925 times three at 84 overall.
12:14That is not horrible.
12:16I think we can get it down to five million.
12:17I'd be happy with that.
12:19Definitely a little...
12:20He's overshooting it a little bit.
12:22He'll get back to us.
12:23We can obviously re-offer him something else as well.
12:26Appleton 4.475.
12:28I'm just going to get him down to say...
12:31We'll get him 4.1 at two million.
12:33Give him a little extra change.
12:35Why not?
12:35All right.
12:35Last one that we're going to do is Matthew Olivier.
12:38He just wants one year at one point.
12:39I'm fine with that, actually.
12:40We'll give him one more year.
12:41Sierra does.
12:42Brett Burns, 84 UFA.
12:44I think we are just going to have to let him go.
12:46Let's see what he wants.
12:46He wants 5.8 million.
12:48No shot.
12:49So we're just going to leave the rest of them.
12:51I think that is good.
12:52And we will see what some of those players come back with.
12:55Okay.
12:56Appleton has accepted our offer.
12:57That's good.
12:58Jake Effen, I don't wish to stick around.
13:00Okay.
13:01Romanov and Jake Evans and Pedersen have all rejected our offer.
13:06Surely we can change Jake Evans' mind with three million dollars.
13:11Pedersen, I think he has potential to get up there.
13:14You know what?
13:14We'll give him what he wants.
13:16We will give him what he wants.
13:17Jake Evans!
13:18The toxic locker room guy has accepted our offer.
13:21What do you know?
13:21And there's Pedersen accepting it too.
13:23Okay, that's big.
13:24That is big.
13:25We have 16 million in cap space.
13:27We could make a run at a big free agent.
13:30Ealers is available 12.4 million.
13:32That is a huge contract for Ealers.
13:34And he wants it for seven years.
13:37Like we could do that.
13:38It's just right now, I don't really want to be good quite yet.
13:43Down here, Saiplakov, Siplika, however you say his name.
13:4784 overall, all he wants is two years at 3.85.
13:51I think it is a no brainer to give him that.
13:54Okay, we have to give him this year's second round pick as compensation for the offer sheet.
14:01You know what though?
14:02Second rounder for an 84 overall at 26 years old at a good price.
14:08I'm doing it.
14:08Trent Frederick, 27 years old at an 83 overall.
14:12Here, I'll give him 3.3 at three.
14:16And we will send that one.
14:18He accepts it.
14:18Okay.
14:18They're not willing to offer.
14:20Okay.
14:20We have got Siplikov, our boy.
14:23Huge pickup.
14:24Oh my gosh, dude.
14:25I feel like we are actually making some good moves.
14:27You guys got to let me know in the comments how these are looking right now.
14:31I think we are in a much better spot than we were.
14:33If I see one more trade from the Edmonton Oilers.
14:36Before I forget, I do need to offer contracts here to our new players as well.
14:41So we'll go ahead and lock these guys in.
14:44I think we have actually become a better and younger team over the course of this offseason.
14:49Freeson, absolutely nasty.
14:50Playing with Siplikov, absolutely disgusting.
14:53We've got a young team.
14:54It's going to get better over time.
14:55We're giving them NHL minutes and hopefully within one to two years, we can start to compete.
15:01I will say our main focus going forward probably does need to be on defense here
15:05as we have 276 overalls in our NHL lineup, which is not ideal.
15:09My long-term plan is going to be to wait until closer to trade deadline day,
15:12and then we can drop Korpi, hopefully get a young solid defenseman for him.
15:18And then our entire lineup is pretty set.
15:21Looking through the preseason, we won some games.
15:22I mean, we had a win, OT win, couple losses.
15:25We won about every other 8-0 over the New Jersey Devils to end the preseason.
15:31Let's go.
15:32I don't know how long this video is that you guys are watching,
15:35but I have been filming for two hours going through all these trades,
15:39trying to make sure that we don't miss anything super important.
15:42If there is anything that I missed in the comment section down below,
15:45we're going to go until January 1st.
15:48So January 1st is our cutoff date.
15:50Let's see how this team looks.
15:52Not Mayo!
15:53Wait, would you like to claim him?
15:54Hold on a second.
15:55Give me a...
15:55I kind of wanted just for the name, Mayo?
15:57Uh, potential 70...
15:59Yeah, we probably, probably do not need to mess with that.
16:02All right, we are off to a 1-7-2 start.
16:08To the 1-9-2 start to the season.
16:12Now, obviously, we want to be bad.
16:14We do not want to be this bad.
16:18What is happening?
16:19I feel like our team's not even that bad.
16:22Wait, what?
16:24Okay, I mean, I'm just making sure here that we have not missed something,
16:29like, absolutely huge.
16:32My...
16:33The lineup isn't that bad.
16:35I mean, Spencer Knight's up to an 86.
16:37Please tell me the AHL team's at least doing decent.
16:40The AHL team is 2-10-1?
16:44What?
16:46Okay, this organization is in shambles, but we will keep the sim going.
16:51Wait a second.
16:52I mean, honestly, at this point, this can't hurt me.
16:53A 20-27 round three.
16:55Uh, sure.
16:56We will, uh, we will absolutely take that.
16:59Get me out of this episode.
17:00We'll see what happens in the next one.
17:01Oh, hold on.
17:02We're starting to string together.
17:04We...
17:05Okay, we didn't string together anything, but we got a win.
17:08We are 6-21.
17:11Oh, no.
17:11Let's just look at the bright side.
17:13We want last.
17:14We will be getting last.
17:15And that has done it.
17:16So, January 1st, here in the new year.
17:19Final record, 9-24-4.
17:22Don't get me wrong.
17:23This was an intentional tank.
17:25Like, obviously, we let some of our best players go.
17:28We went way younger.
17:29We expected to be bad.
17:31However, this has gone extremely off the rails.
17:34Like, what do we have to do to get some of these younger guys to go up
17:37and overall to make some moves?
17:39Obviously, if we are losing the way that we are, they're not gonna be progressing.
17:42Uh, they're not gonna be getting better, and their overalls are just gonna be the same.
17:46While we are definitely in a bad position,
17:50it feels like at least our team's younger and the potential is there.
17:54But again, you guys gotta let me know in the comments down below,
17:58what do we have to do to turn this mess around?
18:00Or maybe, maybe this is how we turn it around.
18:03Uh, 9-24-4, you gotta think.
18:05Probably not, but maybe this is okay.
18:07That is gonna do it for this episode of Franchise Mode.
18:11Again, I don't know how you guys are enjoying this or if you're enjoying it at all,
18:14but let me know what you think in the comments section down below.
18:18Uh, if you do enjoy this series, we are playing until we win a Stanley Cup,
