Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey has accused the Conservatives of being “almost Trump cheerleaders” and putting British interests at risk. He criticised other UK parties for failing to speak out against Donald Trump, saying it’s “depressing” that only the Liberal Democrats are taking a stand. Davey praised Canada’s Prime Minister for openly criticising Trump, urging the UK to do the same. Report by Covellm. 00:00Well, I've been very struck by how the Canadian prime minister
00:03has been very critical of Trump.
00:05I've been struck how other European leaguers have been
00:07very critical of President Trump.
00:09And I'm just disappointed that other political parties
00:12in Britain are holding back.
00:14Why?
00:15In my eyes, it's a bit depressing that it's only
00:17the Liberal Democrats criticising Donald Trump.
00:20Look what's happened to our politics.
00:21I can sort of understand how the government has to,
00:25you know, try to tread a fine line.
00:27I get that.
00:29But for the Conservatives and Reform to be almost
00:32Trump cheerleaders and, you know, Nigel Farage
00:35licking the boots of Trump and Musk, that's quite outrageous.
00:38That's not in the interest of Britain's economy.
00:40It's not in the interest of our defence and security.
00:44And Liberal Democrats will always champion
00:47the British national interest for our economy
00:48and for our defence.
