00:00Filipina badminton player Mika de Guzman plans to defend her title in the upcoming 2025
00:06Philippine badminton open this July. Jamaica Bayaka has the details.
00:13The 23-year-old badminton player Mika de Guzman confirmed that she will compete again to defend
00:18her title in a women's singles event. According to the athlete, she's preparing not just for the
00:24local tournaments but also to international competition in Asia to be held in China next month.
00:30Of course, since we'll be up against top players of the world, of course, we'll prepare not just
00:37physically but also mentally with the help of our coaches and psychologists. After de Guzman
00:43failed to get a podium finish on the 103 Lump International Series 2025, Deteneo Star is aiming
00:50to win a gold medal in her upcoming competitions. I won my first game but then sadly the next game
00:57I lost. But it was a learning experience for me because I learned a lot and I'm pretty sure
01:02the things I learned will help me in the next tournaments. As part of International Women's
01:08Month celebration, Mika is also one of the 100 Filipino athletes who recognized at the 2025
01:14PSU All-Women's Sports Awards. I just lost my game so I was so down. When I received the email,
01:22I was so happy. It was just a blessing in disguise. Of course, I'm proud because there are so many
01:28women who are playing who's bringing pride to our country and of course, they're also winning.
01:34And I'm really proud. The Philippine Badminton Open 2025 will kick off on July 7 to 12 at the
01:42Rizal Memorial Badminton Hall and Coliseum in Manila. Jamay Cabayaca from The National TV
