Calvin Watkins joined Shan & RJ today to discuss an article he wrote on the potential issues with Micah Parsons & the Cowboys. He highlighted concerns about his leadership and involvement in an in-season podcast. Some players, like DeMarcus Lawrence and Malik Hooker, have expressed frustration with Parsons' off-field activities. Additionally, Parsons' absence from voluntary workouts raised questions about his commitment, despite being a key figure for the team. While Watkins believes these issues can be resolved, it's clear that some in the Cowboys organization are concerned. However, there are no serious discussions about trading Parsons.

00:00There was a column, an article that stirred things up and it came from the Dallas Morning
00:20News written by our good buddy Calvin Watkins.
00:24Yes, the great Calvin Watkins from the Dallas Morning News.
00:28Honestly, before the Luka Doncic trade, the biggest trade in the history of Dallas sports
00:33when he and John Machado were traded for each other at the Athletic in the Dallas Morning
00:36News.
00:37And our cigar buddy from the Combine.
00:40Did you go the light, a medium, or a harsher cigar there, Calvin?
00:44I go for strong.
00:45I need strong.
00:46I got a lot of stuff going on in my life.
00:47I need something to calm me down.
00:48Hey, it'll give you a nice little high on there.
00:53It'll give you a nice little high.
00:56So we had Calvin hanging out for us in Indianapolis.
00:59Do the Cowboys have a Micah Parsons problem?
01:03Take us inside the article, Calvin.
01:07I think the purpose of the article was to raise this question because there are some
01:11issues with Parsons.
01:15And I think they do have a problem with Micah Parsons that they have to kind of fix.
01:19And they're fixable.
01:21The biggest problem is it seems that there are people in the organization and it's
01:27in the locker room that might have a problem with Micah doing an in-season podcast.
01:33Last year, Malik Hooker mentioned it.
01:37And then this year before DeMarcus Lawrence left for Seattle, or after he left for Seattle,
01:41he said, hey, spend less time on Twitter and spend more time on trying to win.
01:47I know it's a little unfair to say that to Micah because DeMarcus Lawrence was also
01:52part of the 30-year Super Bowl drought.
01:55So there's some issues with Micah's in-season activities that have to be addressed.
02:01And when you have two players saying it, I think there's more players that care about
02:05it.
02:06You know what I'm saying?
02:07Yeah.
02:08And then the other part is the voluntary workouts.
02:11Like they get 90% attendance, you know, 90% plus.
02:16And Micah Parsons is not among that 90%.
02:18Now, yes, it is voluntary and who wants to work when it's voluntary?
02:23However, if you want to say you're a leader of this team, then you take your behind to
02:29the star and you work out.
02:31Dak Prescott was in the contract talks and he showed up.
02:34C.D. Lam showed up.
02:36Not last year, obviously, because he held out.
02:38But before that, he showed up and I'm sure he'll show up in a couple of weeks.
02:42So Zach Martin showed up, you know, unless there's a contract issue.
02:46So you want to be a leader, you have to show up to these things.
02:52And I think Micah is open to doing that, but the team is going to address it with him in
02:58contract talks.
02:59Now, there's something they can't put in writing because that's against the CDA.
03:02However, I think it's going to be suggested, hey, man, get your behind in here when we
03:07all get together.
