This patisserie style venue on Byres Road has just launched its new evening menu, extending its opening hours until 10pm.
Transcript
00:00We are in the West End to try the new evening menu which has recently launched at Valaria.
00:05This patisserie style venue opened around two years ago at the top of Byers Road.
00:09It is a destination bakery but has also proved popular among locals.
00:14After a takeover of ownership, the venue extended its opening hours and between 5pm and 10pm you can now order a range of small plates, salads, flatbreads and other snacks.
00:24So when we arrived we ordered some bocconcini mozzarella and olives to start off with and some San Pellegrinos.
00:31Everything came quickly and was very flavourful.
00:34Then came a chicken and chorizo flatbread, this appears to be one of their specialty dishes, the crispy duck salad alongside tandoori roast carrots, serrano ham with grilled peach and a side of fried new potatoes.
00:48There was a lot going on here but ultimately we were really impressed.
00:51The dishes were quite light but everything was seasoned well and had been paired with appropriate sauces.
00:56Everything was really tasty and to be honest I would order each of them again.
01:01My favourites would be the roasted carrots and the serrano ham.
01:05The idea of the new opening hours is to extend the cafe feel beyond daytime which is a really good idea because there aren't many places particularly in the West End that still offer a cafe culture in the evening.
01:17It is a lovely atmosphere as well and a nice place to spend time.
01:21It looks very Parisian with its pastel green panelled exterior, the ornate outdoor seating bistro area and all the florals inside.
01:29Very tastefully designed.
01:31I really enjoyed the evening menu and am looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu.
