00:00You know, Gamine is the type of horse that when you see her for the very first time,
00:20you knew she was special, and she knew she was special.
00:26After Stride, everything that she did, it was so easy, in the interview, you felt like,
00:31okay, I'm the best horse ever, you know, so she gave you everything she can.
00:36She was different than that kind of horse.
00:38I remember going to the Timonium sale, the Fasig-Tipton, right after the Preaknesses
00:42run, and walking in there, and my bloodstock agent, Donato Lanny, says, I want you to come
00:49look at this filly.
00:50It's very rare that I have horses just, that I look at them, and I just see something magic
00:56in them, and Gamine had me at Hello, so we need to call Michael Lund, and he needs to
01:03buy this filly.
01:04This is the perfect filly for him.
01:05I said, we found a filly for you, you know, he wants to play at the top level, and he
01:09asked me, well, Bob, how far should I go?
01:13I says, these fillies are hard to find.
01:16I said, you stop when you own her.
01:20You know, Gamine's always been special to us at Fasig-Tipton since her breeze at the
01:25Timonium two-year-old and training sale.
01:27You know, I think we all knew that she was poised to do something special in the sales
01:32ring, and she certainly exceeded those expectations when she topped the sale.
01:37You know, I think history will reflect the fact that Gamine's 2020 racing campaign was
01:43one for the ages.
01:44She wins the Acorn by 18 lengths.
01:4618 lengths, grade one in New York.
01:49Eight lengths, and then it's Pleasant Orb moving into second, followed by Waterwhite
01:54and Lucrezia.
01:56This is a tremendous performance by this three-year-old filly.
02:00Gamine, won by the length of the stretch.
02:03And at that point, I didn't know very much of her, you know, so the way she won, I got
02:08back and I said to my agent, I only can say, wow, I was like, that was incredible.
02:14And her stride was, that's what got her to what she was, and racing, her stride was incredible.
02:20Very fast and very powerful.
02:21They don't come that often, horses like her, they're special.
02:25She won five grade one races.
02:28And against the top competition, she took on all comers.
02:31Not only did she win, but the dominant, the brilliant way in which she won, I mean, she
02:36was a horse that when you watched her on a racetrack, she gave you goosebumps.
02:40For a horse as fast as she was, she was really kind, you know.
02:43She was in the post parade.
02:46She was never, you know, like on the muscle or anything like that.
02:49She had a big heart, you know, she'll give you everything she could at any time.
02:55That's what made her, Gamine.
02:57She's a filly that I've always looked forward to watching her run because I knew she was
03:03going to wow us.
03:04She's the whole package.
03:08And she's a generational talent.
03:12And that's what you need in this business.
03:14She's always exceeded expectations.
03:16And as those expectations, the bar was always set very, very, very high to begin with.
03:20And I think she'll likely do that as a broodmare as well.
