00:00Grade 1 Bluegrass winner Zanjan will remain at Keeneland for the time being before he
00:07makes the trip to Churchill Downs to continue his Kentucky Derby preparations.
00:11His trainer Chad Brown talks through the Bluegrass win.

00:17You know, I'm appreciative that he got some good experience there as well headed to the
00:21Derby.
00:22I think it'll hopefully serve him well.
00:23You know, he was shuffled back, he had to take a lot of dirt and go through a big pack
00:28of horses.
00:29He took a good bump there on the 8th pole and such.
00:32So he, you know, I was really proud of the way the horse ran and everything we got accomplished
00:38there.
00:39Zanjan has moved through all kinds of traffic from the back of the pack and he is now taking
00:46command in deep stretch.
00:48It's over.
00:49Zanjan wins the Toyota Bluegrass.
00:52You start getting these babies up close to the debut, especially if it's in the fall
00:58where you've had them for a good period of time normally all through the summer and you
01:02get to match them up and get to learn about them a little more and you see them get fitter
01:05and more experienced.
01:07He really sort of separated himself in the top small group of super talented horses that
01:14we had in this crop and, you know, he ran to his work.
01:17So it's always, it leaves a trainer when that happens.
01:21I think he's had a little bit of trouble getting out of the gate the last couple of starts.
01:24Obviously two back in the race in the fairgrounds, he completely jumped at the start and missed
01:29a break.
01:30I'm hoping that this horse shows more of his natural speed that I know he has out of the
01:34gate again from when we debuted him, you know, in a sprint race, he was able to win.
01:39So yeah, he's going to have to get a little better position in the derby, I think, to
01:44give him his best chance.
01:45We'll see.
01:47So much time to get from here to the derby.
01:49We've done it before.
01:50It's a bit of a minefield to get through with so many things you have to get through with
01:53weather and works and post and trip and all that.
01:56So we'll just take obstacles one at a time as they come, you know, it's a super field,
02:04I think.
02:05Certainly the top, I'd say dozen main contenders for the race coming from all different regions
02:11all look legitimate, you know, their numbers are fast enough and some of them look like
02:15they're improving and a lot of them are with experienced conditioners.
02:18So a lot of them are well bred, you know, it could be a wide open derby.
