00:00Uncle Mo is fast becoming a successful sire of sires and his grade one winner Motown is
00:07looking to become the next young Uncle Mo sire sensation. With his first yearlings going through
00:13the ring this year we visited Motown who stands alongside his sire at Ashford stud.
00:18So Motown is one of those horses that is was very well received when he arrived but he's
00:25actually gone from strength to strength as people have seen his seen his foals and now
00:29we're in anticipation of his first yearling crop coming to the sales this year. Obviously what
00:35Uncle Mo has done not only as a sire but now as a sire of sires has certainly helped the momentum
00:40gather behind a horse like Motown. There's quite a lot of similarities between them but I think if
00:46anything Motown while he does look quite like Uncle Mo in some respects I think there's a lot
00:52of Bernardini in him. He's got a quite much much more of a short back, he's got a great hip and
00:57shoulder, he's got all the qualities you'd want in Bernardini who was obviously a great broodmare
01:02sire, a great sire in his own right but a great broodmare sire as well and then he's got the
01:06strength and the scope of Uncle Mo so he's a very good mover, he was very versatile himself,
01:11he managed to do what we all want them to do is be successful on dirt at two and then if
01:17they can go on and win a grade one on dirt or turf at three is very very important as well.
01:23What we've seen so far we've been very encouraged by. They're very balanced, scopey looking horses,
01:29they've got a lot of quality, they move well. Uncle Mo certainly stamps his stock and Motown
01:35does as well. I think he'll get the good hip and shoulder, lovely top line and he had a really
01:41really good Pinnock sold by Gainsway Farm for Devont Latham's group. He bought the colt for
01:47185,000 at Keeneland and then sold the horse for 300,000 at the select sale in Saratoga so I think
01:55that bodes very well for the way his crop should be received. There's 40 plus of them in the
02:02September sale. One of them was highlighted to me by Brian Graves of Gainsway. He said that hip
02:082242 out of closing move is one to keep an eye on. It was a $75,000 colt as a weanling. He said
02:16it's progressed very very very well so I think he's a horse that we can definitely keep an eye
02:20on in the later books in Keeneland. The great thing about Uncle Mo is that he was perceived
02:27very much as a dirt horse himself but I think we're now starting to see the versatility of
02:32the Uncle Mo line. I think that's something very important because it opens you up to so
02:37many more buyers at a yearling sale. It opens up your buying pool to include the rest of the
02:43world as well and then I think the fact that you know this Uncle Mo sire line is something
02:47really to be reckoned with. Uncle Mo himself isn't an old horse but his first three proper
02:53stallions at stud have done very very well. With what Leoban has done, what Nyquist has done and
03:00what Outwork has done I think we're starting to realise now that Uncle Mo is very much on the
03:05way to creating a sire line all of his own. So I think now it's up to Moto.
