00:00This is the latest news in the Philippines and this is the latest news from PTV Cordillera.

00:13The municipality has decided to implement the Smoke Vape Free Ordinance, which is the first of its kind in the city.

00:20This is to reduce the number of smokers in the locality. Here is the report.

00:26As part of Operation Baklas, the Smoke Free Task Force, the advertisement of the new type of cigarette tobacco,

00:38and the stores of gasolines in Barangay Lawakan, have approved the Smoke Vape Free Ordinance of the municipality.

00:46The activities that the Municipal Health Office, Barangay Iluacan, PNP, BFP,

00:52the Non-Government Organization, and Transcending Institutions and Communities Incorporated are helping

00:59to expand the community's access to the ordinance.

01:03The first thing we did was to visit the big barangays,

01:09usually the barangays along our national highways.

01:15For now, we have already visited 6 barangays and there are 3 more that we haven't visited yet.

01:23Transcending's mission is to help local government units

01:28who are struggling to pay for cigarettes for the public of the area

01:33who are suffering from diseases.

01:35We are doing this because we have seen many challenges for the smoke-free program.

01:42One of them is the lack of awareness.

01:44Many in the community don't know that we have a municipal ordinance, a smoke-free ordinance.

01:52This is the first time we visited the smoke-free task force

01:55where we are giving out citation tickets and materials related to the ordinance.

02:02We still need the deputation order from the mayor that we can give out citation tickets.

02:10The penalty for smoking in public areas is P500 to P2,500 for 4 hours of community service.

02:20For smokers and store owners, P1,500 to P2,500 of violation fee,

02:26community service, and suspended business permit.

02:36The National Food Authority of the Union Branch

02:41has issued a notice to the LGU of Baguio City

02:46that the LGU will issue P35 per kilo.

02:49The Department of Agriculture has declared a food security emergency on rise in February 2021.

02:58The National Food Authority of the Union Branch has issued a notice to the UNFB

03:04that the NFA rice buffer stocks are not enough for the supply of rice.

03:10The market is not yet able to meet the price of commercial rice.

03:14The province's buffer stock has increased by 1.8 tons.

03:19The coordination of the DTI office has been extended

03:23since the first shipment of rice arrived in Baguio City, Benguet.

03:27This is the first shipment of rice in the public market.

03:31The DTI is monitoring the market.

03:33The NFA has issued a well-milled rice

03:36that can be delivered to local government units for P35 per kilo.

03:42It can also be delivered to the food terminal of the D.A.

03:45because it can be delivered to government-owned and controlled corporations at a lower price.

03:50The rice has been secured in the warehouse.

03:54The NFA continues to supply rice to local farmers,

03:58trade drive, balay, katkatkatangan, upisina.

04:01It is P24 per kilo.

04:03The price is P18 per kilo newly harvested.

04:06We don't have a shortage.

04:11The only cost is the extraordinary price of rice.

04:20Only through FDI can the NFA stock be sold.

04:24The NFA cannot directly sell to LGUs

04:30if we release stocks because of the declaration of food security emergency.

04:36This is one way to replenish the stock that is being issued

04:47through procurement operations.
