00:00We are definitely going global and we're definitely on air with the commissioner of Major League Baseball.
00:06Rob Manfred joins us.
00:08And Rob, thanks so much for coming on. Really appreciate it. And this, this is fun.
00:16You know, the excitement in the ballpark I kind of expected.
00:20It's just amazing how much excitement around the city.
00:23Really kind of taken over for a few days. It's been great.
00:27Ground ball to short, throw to first and it gets Miguel Amaya.
00:31And you're talking about the excitement in the city.
00:34It's a big city and you see a lot of Dodger jerseys, a lot of Cubs jerseys.
00:39And people just psyched for baseball, Major League Baseball here at the Tokyo Dome.
00:42Yeah, it really has been interesting.
00:44We came down to the store here in the stadium for the opening this morning.
00:49It was an hour and a half wait to get in.
00:51And just absolutely packed with people and stuff flying off the shelves.
00:56Just people really interested in the game.
01:00Grounded to first and John Birdie is retired two away.
01:06So, what's next internationally speaking?
01:09Well, you know, next year will be the WBC.
01:12I'm sure we'll play one of the early rounds here.
01:15We traditionally have. We're excited about that.
01:18We had a qualifier in Taiwan just about a month ago.
01:24We had 35,000 seats. We sold out all three days.
01:27So, I mean, I think it's an indication of how popular it's going to be next year.
01:31And I'm sure we're going to have a great tournament.
01:33And that was at the Taipei Dome, correct?
01:35Exactly.
01:36And that's a new dome.
01:37I mean, you guys coming out here and Cubs, Dodgers.
01:40It's a great pick with all the Japanese players.
01:42But just to see it up close in person and see the response that Shohei Otani gets
01:47and the response of the fans, I mean, I'm sure it just encourages you.
01:50It's like we have to do more stuff like this and try to grow the game more.
01:53Absolutamente.
01:54You know, it was interesting.
01:55We met with both the Korean and the Japanese commissioner's offices while we were here.
02:00All three, Korea, Japan, and the U.S., all had record attendances last year.
02:05And it just shows you the momentum that the game has right now.
02:13With the commissioner of Major League Baseball, Rob Manfred.
02:16And, Rob, you came here.
02:18What's been your favorite non-baseball part of the week?
02:21I'll tell you.
02:22I went to a place this morning that people were talking about for pancakes.
02:27Sounds like an odd thing to do in Tokyo.
02:30The pancakes are about that thick.
02:33And they are the most unbelievable things you've ever eaten.
02:37Really?
02:38Yeah.
02:39Pancakes in Tokyo.
02:40Yeah.
02:41It was something.
02:42All the, you know, the ambassador, former players that travel with us a lot,
02:45they're all going at 7.30 tomorrow morning.
02:47There was a woman next to us.
02:49It's just a kind of counter.
02:51We got there at 11.30.
02:53She'd been waiting since 7.30 in the morning to get into this place.
02:56It was unbelievable.
02:57That sounds delicious.
02:59Yeah.
03:00I'll show you a little picture afterward.
03:03It's pretty good.
03:04They're made of pancake.
03:05I didn't like it.
03:06Yeah.
03:07Well, these are special.
03:08They really are.
03:09But it's been fun.
03:10I mean, we really have been out and about a lot.
03:12I was surprised, actually.
03:14The exhibition games, the atmosphere in here was unbelievable.
03:18Even for the exhibition.
03:19It's been really special.
03:21Commissioner Major League Baseball, Rob Manfred, thanks so much for coming on.
03:24It's been a great week so far.
03:26We're looking forward to the rest of the season.
03:27Thanks.
03:28Well, thanks for having me.
03:29Great to see you both.
03:30All right, Cameron, nothing like Cubs baseball before school.
03:33So father-son time, that's awesome.
