00:00The three Filipinos were rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation and were made scammers in Cambodia.

00:05They were also tortured when they planned to leave their jobs.

00:43This is the video of the three Filipinos who were tricked and brought to Cambodia to work as scammers.

00:50It was Sunday morning when they were able to return to their country after being rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation.

00:56In these images, you can see the scars they received on different parts of their bodies.

01:01According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago,

01:04the victims of the online posts were able to work as customer service representatives in Thailand

01:11with an allotted salary of US$1,000.

01:14We coordinated with IACAT, Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking,

01:20our BI, Bureau of Immigration, and Interpol on how to help them.

01:27After the coordination, we all agreed to send four agents to Cambodia.

01:37Because we don't have Pogo here, it was prohibited for us to move there.

01:41But then, the Pogo that is usually used for gaming, they are scammers.

01:48After they were allowed to leave, they were taken out of the country in January by a backdoor exit.

01:54They went to Dipolog City via plane.

01:58From Dipolog City, they went to Basilan via ferry and from Basilan to Tawi-Tawi ferry.

02:05From Tawi-Tawi, they boarded a small boat with a capacity of less than three people.

02:13They waited for the night and they were taken to the sea

02:17where they were transferred to a bigger fishing vessel until they arrived in Sabah.

02:23NBI explained that in Malaysia, the victims' passports were stamped with Peking border stamp.

02:28They were transferred from Malaysia, followed by Thailand, until they arrived in Cambodia.

02:34Seven of them left the country at the same time, but two of them managed to escape to Thailand.

02:39When they arrived in Cambodia, they were brought to a compound and were prohibited to leave.

02:44Here, they learned that their job is to be scammers.

02:48The target of their operation is foreigners aged 55 years and above through cryptocurrency.

02:55After a month, they only received 300 US dollars.

02:59Because of this, they planned to leave, but their plan was exposed.

03:03That's why they were beaten by 15 Chinese-looking nationals.

03:06Three of them were beaten.

03:09One of our victims died while being beaten.

03:13To wake him up, he was shot with a cigarette in one of his hands.

03:19After he was shot, he did not wake up.

03:22He used a hot iron to burn his other hand.

03:27That's when our victim woke up.

03:29The first thing they did was to escape and ask for help.

03:32The NBI continued to contact the Interpol and the Cambodian authorities

03:37to carry out the raid and help the so-called 40 Filipino victims.

03:42The NBI reminded them not to take a big salary and ensure that it is accredited by the government.
