00:00As the Bureau of Immigration, or BI, reported to senators on the update regarding how former

00:05presidential spokesperson Harry Roque was able to flee the country, they cited the possibility

00:10that Roque may have used the same method as Alice Guo to escape.

00:14Our Daniel Manalastes has the details.

00:21As the Bureau of Immigration updated the senators on how former presidential spokesperson Harry

00:27was able to flee the country, they cited the likelihood Roque may have followed the same

00:33route Alice Guo took in her escape. Roque, who is in the Netherlands,

00:38confirmed he is one of former President Rodrigo Duterte's legal counsels.

00:43Since Mr. Roque has no recorded departure in the BI's records,

00:47he likely took the same route as Alice Guo in leaving the country by using a backdoor exit.

00:52According to the House Secretary General, in light of arrest order from the Quad Com for Roque,

00:58there's still a need for a court order to cancel Roque's passport.

01:02The House doesn't have jurisdiction over consular matters. No, it's really the DFA.

01:11But according to the DFA, it has to have a court order before they can cancel the passport of

01:19Mr. Harry Roque. I think cases have been filed with the DOJ.

01:27Once it's filed in the court, that's the time the court can issue an order

01:34concerning the passport or the immigration status of Mr. Harry Roque.

01:41Meanwhile, on Roque's plan for political asylum,

01:44Senate President Jesus Codero said this is Roque's prerogative in the decision whether

01:49or not to grant his application lies solely with the Netherlands government.
