00:00Wishing to end his life as a fugitive, running away from the law, disgraced former Duterte spokesperson and human rights proponent, attorney Harry Roque, is seeking to do what Communist Party of the Philippines founder, Jose Maria, or John Massison, did before.

00:15Hopefully seek a successful request of political asylum in the Dutch state.

00:19But house Solans have mocked his claim of political persecution with the Magabayan block signifying to block his request for relief.

00:27As our Mela Las Moras has more.

00:32The house of representatives Magabayan block is determined to block the planned asylum application of former presidential spokesperson Harry Roque.

00:41Roque is in the Netherlands to assist former president Rodrigo Duterte who is being accused of crimes against humanity at the international criminal court in connection over his so called war on drugs during his term.

00:53However in the Philippines a contempt and detention order is still in effect against Roque issued by the house squad committee due to his failure to attend previous hearings of the joint panel and his refusal to submit relevant documents allegedly related to illegal pogos.

01:09If granted asylum, Roque will be allowed to stay in the Netherlands instead of returning to the Philippines as a form of protection against alleged persecution.

01:17According to house deputy minority leader Franz Castro, their proposal will be coursed through the house squad committee.

01:23Then a government to government channel can be utilized for the government of the Netherlands to acknowledge and act on.

01:31He has no right to seek asylum in the Netherlands because he is not a victim of political persecution.

01:41Mars, go home and face the questions of the house squad committee and clear yourself first before you go to the lawyer of former president Duterte.

01:57In a separate statement, another Makabayan black member, house assistant minority leader Arlene Brosas alleged attorney Roque's asylum bid is nothing but a mockery of justice and a slap on the face of the Filipino people.

02:09For his part, house assistant majority leader Jude Asidre added, if he has nothing to hide, why is he running away from the issue?

02:17Asidre said, this is not just about contempt in Congress anymore as Roque is also facing serious criminal charges in the country that involve human trafficking so he should be held accountable for his actions.
