00:00Sarawak Bersatu Head Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Sufian urged all parties to prioritise national

00:07interests in resolving the gas rights dispute between Petronas and Petroleum Sarawak Berhad.

00:13He said negotiations should be based on mutual respect and dialogue, warning against extreme

00:18voices and unilateral actions that could erode trust and hinder a win-win solution.

00:25On March 8, Deputy Prime Minister Fadilah Yusuf said Petronas and Petros were negotiating

00:30a commercial arrangement to align the Petroleum Development Act 1974 and Sarawak's Distribution

00:37of Gas Ordinance 2016.

00:39This came after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Oping agreed

00:44that the PDA would remain the primary law governing oil and gas resources, while Petros

00:49would act as Sarawak's gas aggregator.

00:53However, on March 12, a source claimed that Sarawak insisted all domestic gas users comply

00:58with the DGO, potentially affecting Petronas' contracts and contradicting the agreement

01:04announced by Anwar.

01:06Jaziri stressed that prioritising Sarawak's interests alone could be short-sighted, and

01:11that Petronas and Petros must collaborate for long-term economic prosperity.

01:17He also said Petros does not have sufficient talent to manage Sarawak's oil and gas sector

01:22independently and warned that a poorly handled dispute could harm Malaysia's investment appeal.

01:28While Jaziri acknowledged Sarawak's right to autonomy, he warned against killing the

01:32golden goose before it could lay more golden eggs.
