Newry City manager Darren Mullen spoke to us after his side drew 1-1 with Dundela.
Transcript
00:00Darren imagine that was a frustrating watch. Certainly because we didn't
00:04obviously didn't get three points we should have been. I mean anybody watching that game
00:07would have won each battering for the second half with a multitude of chances
00:11didn't take them but look you have to put a positive spin on it you know we
00:13can't sit and mope about chances we didn't take. That's our third game in a row now
00:17unbeaten you know another game that we should have won loads of positives and created loads of
00:21chances and we have now that we didn't have for a long time. There's a bit of
00:24fighting spirit in it you know that's fighting for each other and the more you
00:27fight the more you get the rewards so you have to take the positives out. The lads were
00:30first half obviously that goal we seem to keep goals to get away that nobody
00:36else gives against us and unfortunately you know it was a horrendous mistake the
00:39first minute and we could have crumbled I didn't think we reacted as
00:43good as we should have done probably took us about half an hour to get into it then
00:46the last 15 minutes first half we were excellent and then the full second half so yeah at this point not to win the game but loads of positives.
00:54Just obviously the big thing tonight was the amount of chances wasn't it
00:57enough chances to win three games but you're taking that as in that's
01:00something you can build upon and the word you've used a lot there positive
01:03that you are taking that now going forward in the last six games of the
01:06season. Yeah we have to if we weren't creating the chances when we were out or
01:10sitting you know fighting for a point or hanging on for a point we weren't you
01:14know there's loads to build on loads for us to take in the next week and into
01:17the remainder of the games. If we play like that we're gonna be hard to beat you
01:20know we say it's three games now we can beat yes we'd like to have had more
01:24points but there's as I say to the lads in there it's taken this amount of
01:30time I suppose to settle in terms of players doing what they're supposed to
01:34be doing you know in a consistent manner you know we've been very erratic had a
01:38good result then followed up with a poor result you know we've had three really
01:41good performances in a row so plenty for me to build on yes you'd like to win the
01:45game and we had more than enough chances to win the game on another night you
01:49know you're scoring four or five there but it is what it is, a point is better than none.
01:53And as you've mentioned already the work rate from the players is really it's
01:56improving every week isn't it? It is yeah you see a couple of lads coming off a cramp
02:00on that tonight because of the shift they put in and right across
02:04can't fault them for that you know first even the first half when we
02:08weren't playing well they were still working hard and just hadn't got the
02:11quality in the first 30 minutes but after that we were dominant
02:15creating more chance at one chance and just sometimes you get a night like that but
02:19it could have been worse, maybe it could have been nice to get, you're thinking are we going to get caught with a
02:23sucker punch here after dominating the game for so long so no thankfully we
02:27didn't so look we'll take the point and look forward to next weekend.
02:30The squad is probably a bit thin tonight with players out, is there anybody
02:33you're expecting to have coming back into the fold in the next couple of weeks?
02:36No look it's what it is when you sit and look at it the amount of people that we
02:39were out I think seven or eight out you know and we had five under-20s on the bench
02:43tonight so it is very very thin and you know we're hoping to get a few back
02:49in the next maybe two or three weeks but nothing overly imminent in that but
02:54that's where you need all people to step up and thankfully the lads are doing that at the minute.
