00:00Anthony Mackie is sharing how he's raising his sons amid what he calls the death of the
00:04American male.
00:06During a recent appearance on The Pivot, Mackie opened up about raising his four sons.
00:10"'I keep my boys humble.
00:12Like my boys have never had a pair of Jordans.
00:14My boys don't do all that internet flying.
00:16I could be the biggest star in the world.
00:18Do not let me catch you being stupid,' he continued.
00:21"'My oldest gets it, my 15-year-old.
00:23He tells the other ones, he's like, yo, don't make dad mad.
00:26Once you get one that's right, he's going to straighten the other ones out.'"
00:30The Captain America star went on to explain why it's important to him to build his children's
00:34character.
00:35"'So, it is just that thing of in the past 20 years, we've been living through the death
00:39of the American male.
00:40They have literally killed masculinity in our homes, in our communities for one reason
00:44or another.
00:45But I raise my boys to be young men, and however you feel about that, you feel about that.'"
00:49Mackie believes all the money and celebrity in the world means nothing if he's not there
00:53to protect his family.
00:54So for me, it's always that idea of American masculinity is very different.
