00:00Each batch of 12 to 16 macarons takes me 5 to 6 hours from start to finish.
00:16My name is Katrina.
00:17I've been making macarons for almost three years.
00:23I started baking after my husband gave me a mixer for Christmas one year.
00:28Before that, I have never baked my entire life.
00:31At first, I experimented with cake pops and cake, but I wasn't very good at it.
00:36Then I started baking macarons after seeing and tasting macarons from my friends.
00:44Today I'm making a kawaii fox wearing a scarf.
00:51I'm inspired by all cute kawaii toys and art.
01:02In Japanese, the word kawaii describes something as cute or adorable.
01:14I also have drawn inspiration from some of my dog's mini toys.
01:18Jojo is my 10-year-old cockapoo who is very spoiled and has two large boxes full of toys.
01:25Sometimes one of his toys will give me an idea to come up with a simple design that
01:29I can turn into a macaron.
01:36Anybody can make macarons like mine.
01:38It's very important to have a good recipe, proper baking equipment, basic knowledge of
01:43making macarons, and sometimes a lot of patience.
01:59Baking for me has been a therapeutic hobby.
02:02My happy place is where I can focus on baking and forget about everything else.
02:07I find encouragement and motivation to keep baking when I know my work puts a smile on
02:11someone's face.
02:14My main goal is to sell my recipe to more people, not only because I will help other
02:19people make macarons like mine, but also because I donate 100% of the proceeds to charity.
02:26This has also made my hobby so much more meaningful to me.
