00:00Let's get started with our top story of the day.
00:02And this is kind of surprising, especially considering FanDuel, a couple of weeks ago,
00:07came out discussing the prediction market company called Calshi, basically saying that we can't
00:12control some of those prediction market companies if they end up being widespread.
00:18Well, how about this?
00:19Drafting CEO Jason Robbins says that the possibility of exploring prediction markets is there.
00:24It seems the company may be ready to take a firm step in the direction.
00:28Drafting's leadership filed an application with the NFA, which is the National Futures
00:33Association, for a new business to be known as, get this, Drafting's Predict.
00:39So of course, this has nothing really to do with sports, or at least somewhat to do with sports.
00:43It has to do with everything else.
00:45How much money a movie makes at the box office over the weekend?
00:48Who could be the next president of the United States?
00:51The prediction market's supremely popular, and the application date is July 30th, 2024,
00:58and they already got this done.
00:59So we will see if this ends up coming to fruition this year or next.
01:03Before we get to some basketball and give that to you for about 45 minutes here on the show,
01:07let's just give you the latest really quick on the football news here.
01:10Cooper Cup was released yesterday by the Rams.
01:13His agent says he's going to be fine, going to sign a one or two-year deal,
01:16$10 million, $11 million remains to be seen.
01:18But that's the going market, I guess, for Cooper Cup.
01:21Jets have released C.J. Mosley, former captain.
01:23That saves him $4 million.
01:25Evan Engram, tight end, is on the move.
01:27He's going from Jacksonville to Denver on a two-year deal.
01:30Mack Jones is the new backup to Brock Purdy.
01:32He signs a two-year, $7 million contract.
01:36Over in the NBA, we had a finals preview last night.
01:40Shea Gilgis-Alexander did his best Houdini yet again,
01:43as the Thunder end up taking out the Celtics.
01:46As right now, Oklahoma City is not only the favorite to win the West,
01:50but look like the most dominant team going right now in the NBA.
01:54Here's Shea Gilgis-Alexander after the game,
01:56talking about picking up the win in Boston.
01:59Yeah, to win on the road, regardless, you have to punch first,
02:04obviously, because the crowd and the atmosphere,
02:06and they're in their comfort zone.
02:09And then you have to be very disciplined.
02:13And those are the things we focused on,
02:17just punching first, trying to throw the first punch in the game,
02:19and then making sure that we followed the game plan
02:27and stuck to it for the full 48 minutes.
02:29And we did enough of it tonight.
02:30We had some lulls, but we were pretty good.
02:32That's obviously a really, really, really good offensive team.
02:35I think they're the best in the league offensively.
02:37And we held them, it felt like, decently tonight.
02:42If you stayed up until one o'clock in the morning last night,
02:45like our producer Frank, then you were rewarded.
02:48If you were a Knicks fan, they end up going on the road
02:50and beating the Portland Trail Blazers.
02:52Mikel Bridges had the winner there, as you see the final score, 114-113.
02:57Big win for New York at the buzzer.
02:59The head coach of the Trail Blazers, Chauncey Billups, however,
03:03after the game, basically said that, yes, they did lose the game,
03:06but did try to find a silver lining in the loss.
03:11So, obviously, pretty tough way to lose,
03:13but you're happy with how you guys played, I assume?
03:16Oh, of course.
03:17Of course.
03:17I mean, that's our whole thing is whether the team beats us or not,
03:23just make them earn every single thing they get.
03:25And we did that today.
03:28It sucked to lose that game.
03:30It sucked to lose that way.
03:33But, you know, youth, it just happens sometimes.
03:38You know, we have a vow to give at the end.
03:41You know, we're trying to take it, but we don't take it.
03:44You know, just youth, just youth, man.
03:48You know, it's part of the growing up process.
03:51What can I say, man?
03:53It's a little heartbreaking.
03:57We fought a very good team.
03:59It was a scrappy game.
04:00It was a physical game.
04:02And, you know, over time, we had to do so much.
04:05And then, you know, in a game-winning shot,
04:08to lose it is heartbreaking for sure.
04:11So the Knicks get a big win in Portland,
04:14and a big win for Oklahoma in the SEC tournament yesterday
04:18as they take out Georgia by a final of 81-75.
04:22They move on to take on the Kentucky Wildcats this afternoon.
04:26Also in the SEC tournament, Mississippi State crushes LSU 91-62.
04:33Josh Hubbard had 26 points.
04:36Mississippi State will take on Missouri tonight.
04:38Trey Johnson had 19 points.
04:40Texas holds off Vanderbilt.
04:42They rally to win 79-72.
04:45This is the first time, of course, Texas is playing in the SEC tournament.
04:48Also, coach John Calipari's Arkansas Razorbacks had a 20-point lead.
04:53They almost blew it, but they did hold off South Carolina
04:55by a final score of 72-68.
04:58Their next matchup is today against Mississippi.
05:02Calipari, after the game, talked about blowing the lead yesterday,
05:06but still winning with some words of wisdom.
05:10Every tournament we go in, we're doing it for one reason.
05:13We want to win games to build up our seed.
05:16Now, along the way, for a guy that does not care about conference tournaments,
05:22I'm guessing it's 15 or 16.
05:25So if you don't care, the kids don't care, no one cares.
05:29Then I'm a magician.
05:31So how about maybe you're taking the pressure off the kids?
05:35That this is just another thing for us to get better and improve ourselves.
05:42And then along the way, you know what?
05:45You're reaching for stars, you grab a moon,
05:47and all of a sudden you're standing there with the trophy.
05:50Reach for stars and grab a moon.
05:52Love it.
05:53All right, whatever that means.
05:54Over the Big Ten tournament, USC tops Rutgers,
05:56one of the most exciting games of the night, 97-89 in double overtime.
06:00USC was down four, they came back and won.
06:03Iowa beat Ohio State, 77-70, and they will take on Illinois today.
06:09Also, Nick Martinelli had 28 points.
06:11Northwestern beats Minnesota, 72-64.
06:15And after losing the game yesterday, Minnesota fired their head coach, Ben Johnson.
06:20They made that announcement officially today.
06:23All right, now let's go to the Big 12 tournament,
06:25where it was a battle that nobody saw coming yesterday.
06:28Central Florida took Kansas to the tilt in overtime.
06:31The Jayhawks prevailed.
06:32They win the game, 98-84.
06:35Here's Bill Self after the game, happy with the win,
06:38but could have been a little easier.
06:41You know, we're happy we won.
06:43We didn't play our best, but I think they had a lot to do with that.
06:47And when we had a chance to kind of break the game open,
06:50we didn't take advantage of it.
06:52But fortunately, Zeke and A.J. both made shots,
06:57and Hunt made three threes in the second half or whatever that were all huge.
07:01We needed every one of them,
07:02but that was not a very good defensive performance out there tonight.
07:08Also in the conference, Baylor takes out Kansas State, 70-56.
07:14And number 16 seed Colorado beats number eight seed West Virginia, 67-70.
07:21Iowa State beats Cincinnati, as expected.
07:23They were big favorites, 76-56.
07:26All right, now let's go over to the ACC tournament.
07:28Some blowouts here as well.
07:30SMU, close game at the half, but they end up taking out Syracuse by 20.
07:34Final score, 73-53.
07:36Also, Jalen Blake had 21 points.
07:38Stanford beats Cal.
07:39Both teams out West now playing in the ACC, 78-73.
07:44North Carolina, no issues with Notre Dame.
07:46That final was 76-56.
07:49And Duncan Powell had 21 points.
07:51Georgia Tech beats Virginia, 66-60.
07:56And the reward for that for Georgia Tech is taking on Duke today,
07:59the Blue Devils this afternoon are 22 and a half point favorites.
08:03Over in the Big East, Villanova takes care of Seton Hall, 67-55.
08:08Villanova will take on the Huskies tonight.
08:10DePaul upsets Georgetown, 71-67, as they take on Creighton.
08:16And Butler beats Providence, 75-69.
08:19And they'll match up with St. John's.
