00:00I'd like to ask unanimous consent to speak for a minute and to revise and extend my remarks.
00:04Without objection, the gentleman is recognized for one minute.
00:07Last weekend when I was home, I saw a very good guy who was recently married, he already
00:14has two children, and he was all happy because he was buying a new house.
00:18He had to save up money for a down payment to do it.
00:21The thing I noticed, though, is that during the two or three years that it took to save
00:28for the down payment, he had to live with his in-laws, which was fine because he had
00:33a strong family and that's the way it took to buy the house.
00:36It bothered me knowing that in other places in this country, people are just given housing,
00:43they don't have to live with their in-laws, and in essence, the government is treating
00:47them better than this example of a guy who was married and spent a couple years with
00:52his parents.
00:53I hope in the future that this Congress changes the rules so we no longer benefit or raise
01:00this guy's taxes to set up someone for their own house immediately.
