00:00Rick, fourth yesterday, is that very good for you?
00:03Yeah, it was super good, I think.
00:04I think it was a bit mixed because I had the feeling I could have had more,
00:09but I was a bit boxed in with 300 to go and I couldn't really do my sprint.
00:14But in the end, fourth in the Stage of Tireno is not too bad, I think.
00:19Does it make you angry for more?
00:20Oh, for sure, for sure.
00:22It's nice to see that this year I made the step to be able to ride there in the finals
00:27and compete for the win.
00:29I think today we will for sure try again.
00:32What do you think of today's stage?
00:33Is it easy to read?
00:36I think there are different possibilities.
00:38It can be a sprint, but it can also be a super hard race from the beginning.
00:41So we just need to be sharp at the start and we need to see how the race is going to develop.
00:47I will just try my best to be there in the first group in the final.
00:51Do you know what kind of rider you are or you can become?
00:54I think I'm more like a punchy rider, like short hard efforts.
00:59Not too long of the climbs, but when it's been a hard race, I think that's the best for me.
01:06Ryan, you have more than 50 victories in your pro career, but not yet a win in Italy.
01:13How bad did you miss that?
01:15I don't know.
01:16You saw me yesterday, but I think I don't ride a lot in Italy.
01:20It's my first Tireno.
01:22I never do the Giro.
01:27I think maybe it's for that.
01:31I tried today.
01:33What makes you think that you can try today?
01:36Today is a difficult day.
01:39Bad condition.
01:40Weather is not good.
01:42You have a lot of climbs at the start of the stage and after it's more flat for maybe a sprint.
01:51We don't know.
01:51Maybe if it's a chaotic start with a lot of attack and high speed on the climb, I do my
02:02maximum for what's at the contact of the bench, but I don't know.
02:09I try.
02:09I do my maximum and we can see tonight.
02:13Does the race scenario depend mostly on Jonathan Milan?
02:17Yeah, for sure.
02:18Maybe Milan tried to pass the difficulty, but I think it's more the puncture.
02:26If it's, for example, if Van Der Poel do a breakaway with a big group, it's impossible
02:34to come back after the climb.
02:36It's for that.
02:38We don't know.
02:41How hard is Tireno-Adriatico and how important is it for you to be able to do the Giro?
02:46Is it for you to do a hard race?
02:49Yeah, it's super hard.
02:51I knew already a World Tour race would be super hard, a stage race, and especially with
02:56the conditions make it really harder.
02:58But yeah, it's important for me to do hard race.
03:03In the future, it's races I would like to perform on.
03:06So it's nice to discover.
03:08I can see I need to progress a lot on a few points and I'm very happy to be here to learn.
03:14Do you think it would be good for you today to break away?
03:19Break away, I'm not sure.
03:21I think I will try to recover as much as possible from yesterday.
03:26But for sure, I think the breakaway have a big chance today.
03:29But this is not really my plan.
03:33Johnny, flat finish.
03:34Does it mean it's a stage for sprinter?
03:36Yeah, flat finish.
03:39Start uphill, pretty tough day.
03:43Also after the crash of yesterday, I have to say.
03:47Feeling pretty painful a bit.
03:53So we will see.
03:56We will try to do our best to hold in the climbs.
04:00I'm sure that there will be some teams that will make me suffer on it.
04:06But yeah, I will try to do my best to arrive in the sprint.
04:10And maybe some teams will also help you to get a sprint finish?
04:13Yeah, for sure.
04:15They will be.
04:16I'm looking for maybe Wisma.
04:19But yeah, as I said, we will see.
04:22You have won Tirreno-Adriatico yourself before.
04:25Do you think you can win Tirreno-Adriatico this year as a teammate of Filippo Ganna?
04:30Because he looks very good.
04:31Anything's possible in cycling.
04:34I think Filippo is going well.
04:35Obviously, you know.
04:37I think he's really targeting and his eyes are on Milano-San Remo.
04:40So no pressure about it.
04:42He already won a great start for Stamchal.
04:46So it's nothing he's chasing for.
04:51And obviously, Lorenz De Pluschi is in a great shape.
04:55Also, Brandon Rivera is up there in the GC.
04:58So yeah, we'll see.
05:00I think it's quite an open race at the minute, especially with the weather.
05:04A lot of guys struggling and a lot of kilometres to go.
05:07So yeah, we'll see how it goes today.
05:09Tomorrow, I think stage six will be decisive for the final GC.
05:14So until then, it's a hard battle.
05:18How important is Tirreno-Adriatico in the build-up of your career?
05:22Oh, for sure.
05:25I'm in the very lucky position that the team wants me to gather experience for the future
05:32and support me and for me to learn how to ride the GCs.
05:38Yeah, a bit unfortunate to hit the ground yesterday during the final.
05:44But they still want to stick to the process and let me focus on improving my skills.
05:50So for sure, it's a very nice opportunity and a nice step.
05:54Do you think you have some freedom for now if there are some breakaways?
06:00For the Tirreno still.
06:02Yeah, I mean, still we want to stick to the process.
06:05We have to see tomorrow and the day after.
06:07It's going to be very, very hard days.
06:10But we have to see how it evolves.
06:11But for sure, we stick to the plan we had in the start of the week.
06:16Result, not that all important, but rather just focus on the process.
06:23And yeah, keep learning.
06:24Keep learning, basically.
06:26Is the Giro d'Italia part of the process after you have won the Giro Next Gen?
06:33For sure, I want to do the Giro at some point.
06:36What we will do this year, I cannot really tell yet.
06:40But for sure, after the Giro Next Gen, I really want to come back to the Giro.
06:45I think it's a very, very special race.
06:47Probably the nicest of the three of them.
06:49So we will see.
06:52Have a good day.
