00:00Our President Rodrigo Duterte is the first Philippine and Asian leader to be prosecuted by the International Criminal Court.
00:17Aside from him, there are six other leaders from other countries who are currently in the custody of the ICC.
00:22With him in the ICC detention center are Ali Muhammad Ali Abdal Al Rahman of Sudan, Alassan Aga Abdul Aziz of Mali,
00:30and from the Central African Republic, Patrice Edward Ngaysona, Muhammad Syed Abdel Kani, and Alfred Yecatum.
00:38Eleven others have already been convicted, including those still in the ICC detention center,
00:43like Aga Abdul Aziz of Mali, who was convicted for crimes against humanity, torture, persecution, and other inhumane acts.
00:52Also, Dominic Ongwen of Uganda, who was convicted for 61 counts of crimes against humanity and war crimes.
01:00Currently, there are other leaders in the country who are under arrest from the ICC,
01:04including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu because of the violence in their offensives in Gaza and the West Bank.
01:11President Omar Hassan Ahmad Al-Bashir of the Republic of Sudan, Kaugnay, for the first time,
01:16for the widespread killing of civilians in Sudan from 2003 to 2008.
01:21President Vladimir Putin of Russia because of their unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia during the war there.
01:30And Laurent Gugaubo, the former president of Cote d'Ivoire in Western Africa, Kaugnay, for the violence after the election from 2010 to 2011.
01:41According to a professor of Utrecht University in the Netherlands,
01:44the case of former President Duterte is special because this is the first non-war or election-related violence case and the first case from Asia.
01:58This is basically about extrajudicial killings within the so-called drug war.
02:04So it's basically about a president ordering its forces to sort of clean up the streets from alleged narco-traffickers,
02:12which led to thousands and thousands of civilian deaths.
02:16So I think it's also in that sense special.
02:18And of course, it's the first case that relates to Asia that is leading to a trial.
02:22So in many ways, it's really a first.
