00:16Now there's an all-out search for the parents
00:18and the toddler's identity.
00:20PIX Live's McGee Hickey joins us now live
00:22from SUNY Dallas State Medical Center's emergency room
00:25with new details.
00:26McGee.
00:28Good evening to you, Katie.
00:31It's such a terribly tragic story.
00:34Police are now confirming it was a man and a woman
00:37who dropped off that little boy,
00:40but they don't know for sure if it was the parents,
00:43friends, or neighbors.
00:45And more importantly, they do not know at this time
00:48what led to the death of that three-year-old boy.
00:52It was just after 11.30 Sunday morning.
00:55Police say they got a 911 call of an unconscious boy
00:59inside SUNY Downstate Medical Center
01:01at 470 Clarkson Avenue.
01:04When police arrived, hospital staff told police
01:07that two unidentified individuals
01:10brought a three-year-old boy to the hospital
01:13and then fled in a car.
01:15That three-year-old boy was unconscious and unresponsive,
01:19and police say he had visible bruising on his body.
01:23The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
01:26Staff inside the emergency room were visibly shaken
01:30by what they had heard happen.
01:32I heard that some lady bringing a baby lifeless,
01:37and when they tried to get to her,
01:39asked her what happened, and she just left.
01:41She just took off.
01:43She had a car parked there waiting for her,
01:45and they just left, leave the baby there.
01:49The nurse was screaming.
01:52What was the nurse saying?
01:54No pulse. They couldn't find no pulse,
01:57and they started CPR.
01:59But the baby, I think they said the baby probably died before,
02:02a while before she bring it in.
02:05So I don't know. That was it.
02:07Police were checking surveillance cameras
02:09and interviewing staff inside the hospital most of the day.
02:13Those visiting the hospital were upset
02:16by what they had heard happened.
02:18The lady said they just left the baby,
02:20because the man was waiting for the lady, and they left.
02:24I don't know nothing else.
02:26When you hear of something like this...
02:28I was sad and brokenhearted.
02:30I was, yeah, I was very sad.
02:32When I heard it, it was kind of, like, devastated.
02:36To know it's a little child, 3 years old, you know what I mean?
02:43And police say for the exact cause of death
02:45they'll be awaiting the city medical examiner's autopsy report.
02:49That generally takes 2 to 4 days,
02:52and of course no identity for that 3-year-old boy
02:55has been made public yet.
