00:02Could you give the Taoiseach some advice?
00:04Ireland is in the midst of a housing crisis now,
00:06and I know you have a lot of experience as a businessman.
00:08How can the state build tens of thousands of houses at speed?
00:12You know why they have a housing crisis?
00:14Because they're doing so well.
00:16They can't produce houses fast enough.
00:18That's a good problem, not a bad problem.
00:20That's a pretty good answer, President.
00:22No, it's true.
00:24Will you put more tariffs on the EU, Mr. President?
00:26Everybody should have that problem.
00:28That's okay.
00:30I know this gentleman. He'll get it solved.
00:32Will you put more tariffs on the EU?
00:34Will you respond to their retaliation?
00:36Of course I'm going to respond.
00:38You will retaliate with more tariffs?
00:40The problem is our country didn't respond.
00:42Look, the EU was set up in order to take advantage of the United States.
00:46Including Ireland? Is Ireland taking advantage of the US?
00:49Of course they are.
00:51I have great respect for Ireland and what they did.
00:54And they should have done just what they did.
00:57But the United States shouldn't have let it happen.
00:59We had stupid leaders.
01:01We had leaders that didn't have a clue.
01:03Or let's say they weren't business people,
01:05but they didn't have a clue what was happening.
01:07And all of a sudden, Ireland has, you know,
01:09our pharmaceutical companies and other...
01:11This beautiful island of...
01:13It's Ireland.
01:15Of 5 million people.
01:17It's got the entire US pharmaceutical industry in its grasp.
01:23And, you know, you mentioned housing,
01:25and other things.
01:27I mean, I have property in Ireland, as you know,
01:29and I love it. It does great.
01:31But I'd like to have...
01:33I'd like to see the United States
01:35not have been so stupid for so many years.
01:37Not just with Ireland. With everybody.
01:39You know, I looked at trade deals.
01:41I was telling the group yesterday,
01:43I looked at trade deals in Term 1.
01:45It's one of the reasons I decided I had to do this,
01:47because somebody had to straighten it out,
01:49and I didn't see anybody that was going to.
01:51I looked at trade deals that were so bad,
01:53I'd actually say,
01:55how is it possible that this could have happened?
01:57Who would have been so stupid
01:59to let these deals happen?
02:01For instance,
02:03when the pharmaceutical companies
02:05started to go to Ireland,
02:07I would have said,
02:09that's okay if you want to go to Ireland.
02:11I think it's great.
02:13But if you want to sell anything into the United States,
02:15I'm going to put a 200% tariff on you,
02:17so you're never going to be able
02:19to sell anything into the United States.
02:21You know what they would have done?
02:23They would have stayed here.
