00:00Hello there. Welcome to your Wednesday evening weather update from the Met Office.
00:05It remains cold across the country through the next few days.
00:08The chance of frost by night and also some showers in the mix.
00:12The air continues to stream in from the north.
00:15Still a brisk breeze into Thursday.
00:18Winds perhaps not as strong towards the west there where we'll see fewer showers
00:22until later where this system here just pushes down the northern and western side of the country.
00:27Before that though you can see where the showers are.
00:29Central and eastern areas and some just making their way down towards the Midlands.
00:33A few running down the Irish Sea.
00:35Drier skies, western Scotland, northern Ireland, northwest Scotland as well.
00:40But where we see clearer skies expect a frost.
00:43So fairly widespread across the northwest.
00:45These showers will have a wintry mix.
00:47So some sleet and snow associated with them.
00:50Particularly over the higher ground but where you catch a heavier shower even at lower levels.
00:54And with that the chance of some icy patches as we start the day.
00:57Where you've seen those showers are where temperatures take a tumble close to freezing if not below.
01:02So it is a cold start yet again to Thursday.
01:05Watch out for some slippery surfaces and those showers continue across eastern counties.
01:09Some down towards central southern England as well.
01:12Brighter skies, southwest Scotland, the central belt.
01:15More cloud and rain then arrives across the far north and west of Scotland.
01:19Some showery bursts of rain here.
01:21Elsewhere some drier weather for Scotland.
01:24Although those showers continue across Shetland.
01:26And we'll see some brighter moments coming through as the cloud breaks up.
01:30Temperatures then typically 6 to 9 degrees Celsius.
01:33But notice the winds not as strong through the afternoon along the eastern strip of England.
01:39So through tomorrow evening and overnight.
01:42This feature here continues just to slide down towards northern Ireland, western Scotland.
01:47And again we could see some mountain snow associated with any showery bursts across Scotland.
01:52Into Friday some brighter skies to start the day.
01:54Watch out for some patchy frost.
01:56Again a scattering of showers particularly across England, southern Scotland.
01:59Dryer skies towards the northwest.
02:01And that's because this ridge of high pressure is extending across from the Atlantic.
02:05And what that means that will pretty much dampen down our shower activity through Saturday.
02:09Although still some showers affecting the far north of Scotland.
02:12And these could slide down across central and eastern areas into Sunday.
02:16Winds remain fairly light throughout.
02:18A bit of a brisk breeze developing along the south coast though through Sunday afternoon.
02:23Here are your temperatures on Saturday.
02:25It's a mix of cloud and sunshine.
02:27Most places will be dry away from the far north of Scotland.
02:30And temperatures typically coming in around 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.
02:34See you later.
