00:00The Department of Agriculture made it clear that Comelec will not prohibit the sale of NFA rice to LGUs.
00:08But they issued a condition for the upcoming campaign period that will start this month.
00:15This is what Vell Custodio reported.
00:19The Department of Agriculture clearly issued a memorandum of the Commission on Elections
00:23regarding the sale of NFA rice during the 45-day election campaign period from March 28 to May 11.
00:30Comelec will not prohibit the sale of NFA rice to LGUs.
00:36But Comelec said that LGUs should not sell NFA rice that is lower than what NFA rice was sold to them.
00:48It means that the sale of NFA rice should not be lower than P33 and it should not be given for free.
01:01This means that LGUs do not need to apply for exemption from Comelec
01:06as long as the conditions provided by Comelec for the sale of NFA rice are met,
01:11in accordance with the National Food Security Emergency on rice.
01:15The Department of Agriculture is also coordinating with the Japan International Cooperation Agency, or JAICA,
01:20for a possible P11 billion project in the post-harvest facility for rice
01:24that will be supported by the National Food Authority and other partner rice cooperatives and associations.
01:30We are discussing a possible project, the post-harvest facility for rice,
01:39for dryers and rice mills that will support the National Food Authority and our cooperatives and associations.
01:48This can start in 2026 or 2027.
01:51In order to continue lowering the price of meat, the DA is implementing the maximum suggested retail price for pork.
