00:00Your life doesn't end if you get a diagnosis of cancer, that is what I find out, it can
00:10be the most scary thing in the world but often it's the most scary thing in the world before
00:16you get the diagnosis and I think when you get the diagnosis one of the worst things
00:21has happened to you but you will find you're more able to deal with it and you will find
00:26there are pathways and you will find there's support and there's people there to help you
00:33deal with it.
00:34I had some bleeding and I went to the GP and he referred me very, very quickly.
00:47Then investigating me they found a cyst so I went for surgery in the Ulster to have a
00:56hysterectomy and get ovaries out.
00:58I had that surgery and then they tested it and it was found to be cancer.
01:07I'm very lucky in a way because it's not as far on and ovarian cancer can be very difficult
01:14and people find it late so I was very lucky actually that the initial consultant was
01:20on the ball.
01:21So now what I'm on is CT scan every year and the bloods every quarter.
01:29I think it's very important and people should look out for their symptoms.
01:33Symptoms last for a period of time, a few weeks or whatever then they should go and
01:38get it checked out.
01:40I did have some spotting so I would say if anybody is postmenopausal or in around that
01:47time and has that symptom definitely go.
01:51There's no use letting the fear of something overcome and what you do about it.
01:58Don't put it off and don't be put off.
02:02If you feel there is something there that you want some answers about just keep at it
