00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. answered the accusations of former President Rodrigo Duterte
00:06regarding Interpol's arrest of the former President
00:10because of the case of crimes against humanity.
00:13The President's goal is to make the Philippines proud of its commitment to Interpol.
00:18This is Clayzell Pardilla of PTV for Balita Ang Pambansa.
00:24I will f**k you.
00:25I am telling you, if you get involved in drugs and we catch you, you will be killed.
00:33Almost four years since the investigation of the bloody fight against illegal drugs
00:40and extrajudicial killings of former President Rodrigo Duterte,
00:45yesterday, Duterte was arrested and transferred to The Hague, Netherlands
00:51to face the case filed by the International Criminal Court.
00:56Allowing the former President to face charges of crimes against humanity
01:02in relation to his bloody war on drugs.
01:06The Philippines has been completely isolated from the ICC since 2019,
01:11but the arrest warrant of the International Criminal Police Organization, or Interpol,
01:19as a member of Interpol, the Philippines has an obligation and commitment to uphold.
01:27We are not talking to the ICC.
01:29They are asking for a lot of things from us.
01:31The documents were not given to us.
01:34That's all.
01:36We cannot deny Interpol.
01:39When they told us,
01:41help us,
01:42we need to get this person.
01:46Because if you remember,
01:48all the fugitives here in the Philippines,
01:52like Alice Goh,
01:54like Arnie Tevez,
01:56who else,
01:57even the human trafficking in Myanmar,
02:01even the drug traffickers,
02:02who helped us to see our countrymen
02:09who are being abused and used in bad ways?
02:14Interpol.
02:16That's why we should help each other.
02:22That's why we did that.
02:25President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.
02:28ordered that Duterte's camp
02:31not to issue an arrest warrant
02:33not in accordance with the law
02:35and against the sovereignty of the country
02:38to arrest the former president.
02:41Yes, there is a very clear
02:46document that will explain
02:49when, how,
02:52sorry, that will explain the basis
02:56on how we conducted this arrest
03:00of former President Duterte.
03:03We followed every single necessary procedure.
03:07We had a very good basis
03:10on which to serve that warrant
03:14and to read him his rights.
03:16We followed all the legal procedures
03:19that are necessary.
03:20So, I'm confident that
03:24if in further examination,
03:26you will find that it is proper and correct.
03:31Especially not in politics
03:34and not in accordance with presidential elections,
03:37the arrest of Duterte.
03:39Politics doesn't enter into it.
03:41Why?
03:43He's never going to be a candidate for anything.
03:47Why go after him?
03:50Right?
03:51And this is 2017, I'm not even a civilian yet.
03:56So,
04:01this is the evolution of his case.
04:06And this is where we end up.
04:09Former President Duterte was arrested
04:12for crimes against humanity,
04:15particularly for his extrajudicial killings
04:18in his anti-drug campaign from 2016 to 2019.
04:23And as the founder of Davao Death Squad,
04:26who killed and raped illegal drug users
04:30and accused them of being criminals
04:32when he was still a mayor.
04:3512,000 to 30,000 victims of Duterte's war on drugs
04:41are said to be proven guilty.
04:43His sentence is not more than 30 years
04:46or a life sentence in serious cases.
04:50It is also possible that he will pay damages
04:53to the victims of the crime.
04:55From PTV Manila,
04:58Kleizel Pardilla,
05:00Balitang Pambansa.
