00:00Madam Speaker, last week, President Trump came in this chamber and he said he was going
00:12to balance the budget immediately.
00:16I just want to go over some facts.
00:19Not politically, just facts.
00:21We've got a $36 trillion debt.
00:25That's where we stand.
00:27Now currently, we're running a $1.8 trillion deficit.
00:34So if you were to balance the budget, that would be zero and we should stay at a $36
00:41trillion debt.
00:43But what does President Trump do with the Republicans?
00:47What is their budget?
00:48Their budget actually is going to add $28 trillion of debt over the next 10 years.
00:59Now here's the kicker.
01:01It's not just that they aren't balancing it to keep it at $36 trillion, it's that they're
01:06adding more debt by adding to the deficits more than the current deficits.
01:14The current deficit projection would add $23.9 trillion of debt.
01:20But the Republicans want to add $28.5 trillion of debt, $4.6 trillion more of debt spending
01:30than the current deficit spending.
01:33I just asked for some math.
01:36You want a deficit spend to have tax breaks for the wealthy because you think that'll
01:40help the economy?
01:41Fine.
01:43But every American should look at this chart because the Republican budget is making the
01:48deficit and the debt worse.
01:51It's not balancing the budget.
01:53Now I want to speak about my second chart.
01:58Madam Speaker, many of us want to cut waste, fraud, and abuse from government.
02:06So where should we look first?
02:09Well, how about the Pentagon, which has 13% of the federal budget?
02:16Now Mr. Musk, who I've known for 15 years, he's firing all these veterans.
02:22You think, oh, is he saving money?
02:24Let's look at this chart.
02:26All of the DOJ firings, .004% of the budget is where Mr. Musk's cuts have come.
02:38That's 455 times less than the Republican tax breaks, which are 1.82% of the budget.
02:48I don't understand it.
02:49I mean, Mr. Musk, Elon, you're an engineer.
02:52You're cutting .004% while the Republicans are providing 455 times that in a tax break
03:02And you're not touching the main budget of 13% of the Pentagon.
03:08So I have a proposal for you.
03:11You can either come to Congress to explain this chart, why you're going after .004% or
03:18USAID .7%, as opposed to going to the 13% of the Pentagon budget, why you're allowing
03:26tax breaks of 455 times more than the savings you're finding at DOJ.
03:31You can either come to Congress or you can go to Jon Stewart.
03:36Jon Stewart called you out and he said, why not, if you want to cut waste, cut the Pentagon
03:41defense contractor budget?
03:43Why not cut the fossil fuel subsidies?
03:46Why not cut the drug manufacturers who are ripping off the government?
03:52Just talk math.
03:54Talk math about how you get actual cuts, because right now you're cutting .004% while
04:02not going after any of the real holy cows in our government.
