00:00SM Active Hub was launched at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City this week.

00:05It's a place where Filipinos can be active in sports to stay healthy.

00:10Here's Tsimates' reporter, Daryl Oclares.

00:15After the opening of the newest football field in Moas Cay,

00:19there's a new building in the Mall of Asia to continue promoting sports here in the Philippines.

00:26SM Active Hub was launched this week

00:29where an inclusive sports playground was built inside the Mall.

00:35But it's not the only one to be found in Pasay City

00:38because 44 pickleball courts and 14 running hubs were launched in different SM malls across the country.

00:47According to the president of SM Supermalls, Steven Tan,

00:51this is a part of their goal to encourage Filipinos to exercise and take part in sports.

01:00Actually, at the end of the day, we feel that health and wellness really should be promoted

01:06because we realize that, you know, of course, it is very important since time immemorial, right?

01:10But there's really this realization that really happened during the pandemic

01:15that it's really important for people to be healthy, right?

01:19And that's why we've been pushing for health and wellness.

01:24Ron Rio, founder of Rio de la Cruz,

01:28Women's Run PH founder, Nicole de la Cruz,

01:31and RWP Run Club and RWP Coaching founder, Patrick Rubin,

01:36thank you for your unwavering support, especially in running.

01:41When I started running in 2022 here in Moab,

01:45I remember when we were already in a group,

01:48the guards here were like, excuse me, do you have a permit?

01:51It's just really nice to see now that it's very welcome and open to everyone.

01:54Given the opportunity to have support from them, it makes our community bigger.

01:59And more than that, we can successfully mount an event for everyone.

02:03So having this mounted event, more people are now interested more in running.

02:09So the venue is a big help for us and for the running community.

02:13When Ron Rio started its business,

02:17SM has been supporting us by providing the space for us

02:21and for our runners to have a safe place for our races.

02:26The Active Hub is now open to the public,

02:29where those who are interested in the sport of pickleball can try it out.
